Samuel L. Jackson to star as Nick Fury in new Disney Plus series
Ready your celebratory eye patches

Details on the new show are very much scarce, but Variety’s sources say that Jackson is “attached to star,” which may indicate that it’s a Nick Fury solo series, or at the very least Fury-centric. Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot) will produce, according to Variety. Polygon has reached out to Disney for confirmation.

Jackson has played Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from its very inception in Iron Man (2008) — but the last time we saw the former Avengers coordinator and director of SHIELD, he was in space. In an end-credits scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home, he was seen vacationing on a Skrull “holodeck” in deep space, in the company of loads and loads of friendly Skrulls.

As to what he was doing out there, that’s anybody’s guess. Keeping an eye out for any more big purple extraterrestrials? Starting a new SHIELD, but in space? Marvel fans naturally assumed that we’d find out in a later Marvel movie, but perhaps the answers are coming from a smaller screen.

Eh.
Lukewarm to be honest. Fury's been feeling less and less necessary to the MCU. So 'Samuel Jackson needs a Paycheck the Series' gets a shrug from me. Maybe if the premise is interesting.

And honestly D+ needs to demonstrate that the shows they've already set up (Loki, WandaVision, and Sidekicks America) are actually any good before I get excited by anything further down the line.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Yeah, his relevance peaked shortly after Winter Soldier, once the Avengers were a thing he wasn't really necessary for plot advancement to get heroes to work together. The crappy cop-out way with how they wrote his character in Captain Marvel (really disappointed with the backstory of how he got blind in one eye) just further solidifed that in my eyes.

More Fury is never a bad thing.

More Sam Jackson is never a bad thing.

I trust Kevin F's part of the MCU to produce good stuff. I am sure if they are doing this it's because they have a good story to tell or information to give.

That being said I am least excited for this entry. Or probably about as excited as I was for a Black Widow movie before I saw anything for it.

Probably the top of my list is Moon Knight followed by Loki, Wanda Vision, Falcon/Winter Soldier, Ms Marvel, She Hulk,...

I am kind of hoping She Hulk see's a return of Samuel Sterns aka The Leader. That set up from 12 years ago can pay off now.

honestly I think this could be good if they do it right. if they're willing to make further use of the age reduction tech they used in captain marvel they could even go back and show us furty working behind the scenes to put the avengers together etc. it could be really fun to see him playing chess master (and potentially patch a few plot holes)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Curious, which plot holes?

Besides Ironman 3. That movies existence is a plot hole.

honestly I can't think of many although I'm sure someone could list some, I know one news site that still obsesses over the infinity gauntlet seen in Odin's treasury dismissed by Hella as "fake" in ragnorok (which is a bit of a plot hole as it's implied in infinity war the gauntlet was just created but it's an easter egg they're having fun with, not worth over thinking)

proably the biggest plothole is Old Cap TBH.

But we know the gauntlet was't just created, as we saw it at the end of Age of Ultron.

What's more likely is that Thanos did what he did to the Dwarves and with all the turmoil on Asgard they never noticed that Nidavellir went silent.

Well,

1) The Gautlet in Odin Vault - Yes, Thanos forced the dwarves to make the gauntlet. But we don't know for how long they had a mold for the gauntlet. It could have been something designed 10,000 years ago that Odin decided not to have forged because it would have been too dangerous. That doesn't stop Odin from making a non functional replica he leaves in his treasure room.

Remember, the mold for Stormbreaker already existed when Thor got there. It's not like they didn't have a bunch of molds for objects that had not been made yet sitting around.

2) Old Cap - We either switched perspectives at some point and began watching the divergent time line in which cap stayed in the past OR we were ALWAYS watching the divergent time line in which cap stayed in the past. It's not really a plot hole just because someone didn't stand on screen and exposition the answers at you.

3) Extremis is a real plot hole - Tony literally cured death in the MCU when he fixed extremis so you don't explode or become a lava monster. He removed the arc reactor from his chest which means it can repair giant gaping holes in you and he cured pepper which means he made it stable. Why the feth did Hawkeye need a cradle with fake skin in Age of Ultron? Tony could have just been handing out little vials of extremis to fix everyone of everything all the time.

That was the only good part of that otherwise blah-tasticular movie.

Ehhh, old Cap just deliberately kept under the radar to not mess up the timeline. Peggy would have been the only person who needed to know he was alive and he told her that he came back in time and needed to remain anonymous.
