I went to a swap meet the first weekend of 2021, and ended up walking out with a bin of old High Elves. I sold off enough to make my money back, and ended up with enough to field roughly 3-4 thousand points in 6th/7th edition. I haven't really painted any WFB since my attempts at an Empire army back in ~2002, but I had always kind of wanted to to High Elves. While I initially thought about doing standard blue/white, I ended up going with Grey and Green at my wife's suggestion, and I kind of admit it has a slightly more sinister look. anyway, I've got some archers finished:

They look great in that green. Well done and congrats on the find and subsequent sales.

I have to concur on this with Eldarain. They look great in that color scheme.

Yes, those look awesome. They kind of look like what I'd imagine the Elves living in the Old World who didn't come back to Ulthuan but who weren't yet Asrai might have looked like.

I am super excited to get the stl files to start printing a new Bret army - well, maybe I might enhance my current Bret army , but a whole new army is so tempting - I really like these sculpts.

Those green HEs look great, quite a Classical Elf feel to them I think.

The Mercians look like they should be a good fit for Brettonians

Not my personal favorite when it comes to the sculpts, BUT I do like how companies like this are trying to go the full 3D printer on their miniatures.

No, it's because I've been assured on multiple occasions that 5 man cav units always win combats on the charge. When I disprove the statistical likelihood with math, the goalpost is immediately moved to mean Chaos Knights. Well, here they are. I expect to run undefeated from here on out...

How have I not found this thread yet??

I've got a couple of bigger WHFB projects that I'm slowly starting to work on. Originally I'd planned on building up a huge Empire and WoC army to fight through the Tamurkhan book and the End Times campaign, but being the perfectionist that I am I came to the conclusion that I would never have forces big enough to 'properly' (in my own head) represent these armies on the tabletop.

With that being stated, I've decided to make different plans. I'm going to try and trade my WoC army for an Orcs and Goblins army, then build up my Storm of Chaos Slayer army and turn my Empire army into an Averland army. Then I can run a World's Edge Mountains/ Blackfire Pass/ Badlands campaign! Huzzah!

With all that said, I'm really enjoying seeing people's WHFB projects here. It really helps keep one motivated, and you folks are seriously skilled!

Continuing my slow process of repainting my Empire army I finally go around to finishing the crew of my second cannon as well as my Mercenary Averland Crossbowmen! The amry represents the Aver River Guard which was my first army that I started back in 6th edition. Its always been in a state of "almost done" but now I decided to finally just do it and finish this up. I honestly haven't fully counted how many points I have but hopefully I'll be able to get an idea once I fully build and prep everything.

Next up is to strip these guys and get them ready for a new paint job. The Warrior Priest and Engineer were the 2nd and 3rd model I had ever painted. My first mini shall remain untouched however.

How do you guys feel like I should go about 'modernizing' the Storm of Chaos rules and points?

What I'd like to do is bring SoC up to 8th edition standards, starting with the Slayer Army and going from there.

Thoughts on how to go about this? Are the points costs similar enough that points should be good, or should I work to overhaul the points as well?

You know, I actually did that once (modernize the Slayer Army for 8th). I'll have to dig around to see if it still exists somewhere. If I remember correctly it was fairly easy, basically updating the points for the dragon/daemon slayer and the troll slayer unit to match 8th, and then fudging the points of other things a little bit to match similar rules from other books.

Spoiler:

I have 3d printed and primed a friend for 8th edition battles. I plan to use the Warhammer Armies Projects armybooks when I play 8th in the future.
Looking at this guy's stats, 6 WS4 attacks with Thunderstomp doesn't seem like a whole lot. I'm worried I'll throw him into an infantry unit and he'll whiff his attacks and Thunderstomp and lose static combat res.

Last time I played WHFB 8th it was Dwarfs through and through, and mostly Slayers at that, so frankly I have no idea how Monsters work besides I can sometimes kill them if I'm lucky. Maybe his statline is prolific. Anyways, my overall project is Lizardmen, and then maybe some force to invade Lustria. All 3d printed, if I can find decent enough models.

That would be awesome if you still had that lying around and wouldn't mind sharing it!

My former WHFB goal was to build up massive armies for the Empire, Kislev, Warriors of Chaos, and Demons of Chaos to play a really big Tamurkhan campaign. Since that has become increasingly unrealistic, my new goal is to trade off my Warriors/ Demons of Chaos for an Orcs and Goblins army, swap out my Middenland-specific guys for Averland units (which means I can get rid of my Ar-Ulric, Teutogen Guard, and Middenland BSB, but that I need to find Marius Leitdorf...) and run a Karak Kadrin + Averland vs. Orcs and Goblins around Black Fire Pass campaign....

Funny thing is that this army and the Dwarf army I painted up were purchased of less than a year. Our goal is every 6th Edition army.

So I finally found it, and it's less extravagant than I remember it. It's actually more notes than a full thing.

Slayers, Daemon Slayers, Dragon Slayers all have stats/rules/point costs from the new book.
Ungrim Ironfist added as a Lord choice.
Look, Snorri, Trolls! has been changed to free Strollaz on all units. Powerful rule, playtesting may prove it needs to be random again.
A Glorious Death has been totally removed.
Dispel Dice replaced by Natural Resistance from the current dwarf book.
Brotherhood of Grimnir's Musican and Standard Bearer points cost changed to 10 each, to keep with modern costs.

And that's how 2014 me decided to update the Slayer list for 8th edition! Although looking at things, it seems that I had somehow missed that Ungrim Ironfist (and Garagrim!) actually had rules so didn't need to be added... Garagrim allowing Giant Slayers to take 1 weapon rune each seems extremely powerful. I'd probably port him over fairly directly (giving him the new Slayer rules) and drop his cost by 50-75 points.

I've played a Slayer army several times in 8th. They work pretty well as printed. The only thing we change is to use the runes from the 8th ed book, just as Gav Thorpe suggested to use the list with the 6.5 ed book's runes when it was released. The list itself is fairly solid in 8th. Fighting in two ranks does a lot for the army.
