Secret Invasion: Nick Fury and Talos deal with a Skrull Secret Invasion on Earth.

Iron Heart: Riri WIlliams reverse engineers Tony Stark Iron tech to become a Chicago based Iron-hero

Armor Wars: War Machine deals with the darker side of Tony's Tech as it falls into the wrong hands around the world.

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: to be released 2022 holiday season. Filmed at the same time as GotG 3.

I Am Groot: A series of shorts featuring a diverse cast of characters from around the MCU.

Ah. I wondered how they were going to do that. So Talos and family are going to be 'good Skrulls,' and they're just going to do the evil Skrulls anyway. If nothing else its a way to drop in all sorts of cameos and do a 'but... mystery!' as to whether or not they exist in the MCU

'Holiday Special' isn't a term I want to hear ever again. Between Star Wars and, well, this:

Heart/Wars seems like it could be a single series, rather than two distinct shows centered around Tony's CGI nanobot tech.
Presumably the tone is different, but they share so much conceptual space.

The skrulls have, for a very long time, had different factions within their race. The comic secret invasion was done by what amounts to religious zealots who interpreted their book to say that Earth was their prophesised new home.

I could see Riri get her series first? And then When War Machines happen he gets some cross over/help from her? Or maybe she gets introduced in Armor Wars and then gets her own series in the aftermath? Either way I like that it's War Machine getting his own series. He deserves it and I always liked the character. I hope it's not Riri reverse engineering the nano tech and instead that she develops something closer to his Pre Ironman 3 level tech. It's sleek and functional. Not quite as weaponized. She can't step out of it in any direction and have it patrol around for her. It would be cool to see her start around there and then develop it in different ways.

Im glad we are finally going to star getting good regular content from Disney+
There is a real lack,(Barring "The Mandolorian") of content that adults can enjoy if they dont have kids. Hopefully this all breaks that trend.

Wondering if the Bad Batch spin-off is going to show them on the Empire side or them going AWOL. I saw them fighting over Clones but it's possible that's the Kaminoan Clone Rebellion rather than them rebelling against the Empire. Was it made clear at all if they're missing the clone chips that the rest of clonetroopers have?

Still doesn't seem worth the subscription..
I think they vastly overvalue their IP and the ability to capitalise on said IP.

Comics, sure. But the MCU didn't deal with that. Skrulls were introduced as poor stateless refugees that we suddenly have to care about in the third act because they're purely victims with no agency (its probably the weakest part of Captain Marvel), rather than the comics' rival empire on par with the Kree or Shi'ar, and the complicated intergalactic politics that logically follows. And GotG and Agents of Shield made an effort to establish the Kree as baddies (or, at best, indifferent), while the Skrulls just... weren't there. So the sudden reverse course into a more complex 'Secret Invasion' isn't set up properly for the MCU.

There's been fan theories for a while that Talos' daughter, who saw some pretty darn traumatic stuff during the movie, is going to be the Skrull Queen secret invasion villain.

It'd certainly add a personal element to the story, if Talos is on the good team

They have my interest. Though it remains to be seen of the MCU magic will work on an episodic basis.

I was just talking with a room mate about that. I really look forward to the series/episodic nature for some of these stories. Armor Wars would be a kind of crappy movie with a montage of smashing some suits. As a series you can really spend some time seeing a variety of enemies.

(Crimson Dynamo? Titanium Man? A return of the Iron Monger from Stane's Son? The return of Justin Hammer and his Hammer Drones/the person selling off the secrets?)

The same for Secret Invasion. We don't have time to have a lot of whos a Skrull who isn't mystery and betrayal but a series can really dig into it.

Also, trailer for the Loki tv show:
Spoiler:

I am totally onboard with a weird, time-traveling, Loki: Secret Agent Man.

It's worth remembering that the Skrulls have had 30 years to have integrated into human society at this point. Talos is still obviously buddies with Nick, but a lot can change in that time.

The pair of Stark tech shows just give both actors a chance to be the star of their own series. I expect Riri will be introduced in Armor Wars, probably help fix up War Machine in some episode and get James's approval.

We all know the GotG Holiday Special is going to be the greatest thing ever, right? Like Gunn is going to have an absolute field day with this particularly with everything that happened.

Surprised to see Riri getting her own series again after her run in the comics caused some backlash. In hindsight of Endgame however, this feels like a better segway into her introduction rather than that of the comics.

A shame the Fantastic Four didn’t arrive sooner, or we would also have Iron Doom running around too.

Armor wars could include a soft introduction of Doom. Or maybe not.

My current best guess is that we'll see Victor in a cameo role as Reed's rival in the F4 film but not as Doom so that he can be revealed as "Rabum Alal" when they want to do a proper film with him as the villain. There's a LOT of potential to build up Secret Wars with him as kind of the mastermind behind several multiverse adventures. Stuff like Mordue's new sorcerer master who helps him access the multiverse and stuff like that.

To expand on my thoughts about how their undoubted big screen magic touch might translate.

Overall, I think it’s important to say I’m hyped - but also cautious.

So far, they’ve done a pretty good job of making all but Infinity War and Endgame stand alone movies.

Yes, you’ll get more out of them watching the series - more so if you watch them in release order. But it’s not been essential.

With these series? Excited that they’re not just “meanwhile, back at the ranch” type pseudo-canon, but actual full entries to the ever growing MCU. And I for one will be just as religious in watching them as I am the movies.

But. The sort of but Sir Mixalot is apparently really rather fond of?

I do have concerns they might stretch things a wee bit. If you need to have seen Wandavision and Loki to make sense of say, Thor Love and Thunder? It could all go horribly wrong.

And I certainly don’t want a Cinema entry to polish off a given season. Much as I love Disney+ (I have two subscriptions. One for me and mine, another for the single Mums I know to help them maintain sanity through lockdown. Yes, I am lovely like that), having to essentially pay a premium for a season finale would leave me disgruntled (but still paying, however grudging).

In short? I’m an easily pleased idiot - and I am totally a fanboi. But they better not take the piss out of my dedication.

I assume you’re referring to the recent Secret Wars, with Battleworld and the Thor police? That would be pretty cool, and a good way to use Dr. Strange while he’s still around. I’ve heard some opinion that this would be a good way to introduce the X-Men as well.

I’m still sticking to the theory that Oscorp and the Seige storyline are going to play major roles, especially how Far From Home seems to be building Spidey up as one of the next “main” characters in a similar vein to Tony Stark. There was also that deleted scene, emphasizing the Oscorp building. The introduction of the Thunderbolts seems to be another clue (Dark Avengers), especially with Baron Zemo already out of the picture.

The impression that I have had is to have any Disney + Series to be a stand alone story. They are not making 3 planned seasons of Wanda Vision. They are telling the singular story "Wanda Vision" in this limited series and if those characters have another story to tell in the next couple years then they will get another limited series to tell that story.

But otherwise they can pull from the entire MCU to deliver individual story arcs in a more long form story technique with the series and put big 2 hour movies into the cinema when that is the correct format for the story they have.

Ms Marvel Khamala Khan can get her introduction not crammed into 2 hours and then appear in a Young Avengers/Champions 2 hour event in the cinema when appropriate.

More or less. At this point Marvel comics basically exists to prototype movie ideas. Up to Avengers they mostly cribbed off of Ultimates and right after that film teased Thanos we got the Infinity event to create a cast of henchmen for him in the Black Order. Given the multiverse push, Secret Wars seems like the most likely next major direction and I don't think its any surprise that the main "Avengers" at the end of it were essentially Captain America Falcon, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Star Lord, Lady Thor, Reed and Namor. Pretty much the characters you'd expect them to focus on post Endgame.

The slate of new shows is clearly pushing the All New, All Different line, which was all about building up replacements for characters whose actors were ready to be done after Endgame.

Now you mention Namor....you’d think they’d have covered him by now. Spesh given MCU went with Seaman.

My understanding is that Marvel still doesn't hold all the rights to Namor. It's tied up in something weird like the solo Hulk movies where somebody else owns distribution or individual rights or some crap. It's (maybe in part) why the Fox movies never used him.

I could be wrong about that but I seem to remember something about it.

In Endgame, Okoye was looking into earthquakes from the bottom of the ocean near Wakanda for Natasha, so they're definitely aiming for it.

I think technically Namor had some legal ties to the Fantastic Four that kept him from being introduced more directly. I wonder if there was some legal reason they started classifying him as a mutant now that I think about it.

Fantastic Four would be my guess. I’ve admittedly not read much of his stuff, but the times he’s shown up in the books I do read I’ve never been impressed by the always angry and the most arrogant man in the universe routine. I can’t recall ever seeing a picture of him where he wasn’t scowling.

There have been conflicts between Namor and Black panther before. And there where rumors BP2 was going to be a conflict between them.
If they go the Shuri panther route I can see a story of her coming into her own as a leader by contrasting herself to Make who is maybe destroying cities to protect his people
