Gald for the SoB though.

Because gw wants to promote their models, and they've made 99% of all CSM models look like Black Legion.

At least this could mean we finally hear something about the new CSM codex. Please remember the other Legions gw, please.

I dunno. Three-model kits just bother me- the model to dollar value is going to be really terrible.
Plus, the options available are kind of... meh? And the sheer impracticality of the giant holsters and the shields on the backpacks. Seriously, SM arms don't articulate that way- there is no way for a Bladeguard to get a shield off his backpack, beyond a 'magnetic release' and a lightning fast anime-style 'spin and pose.'

Still, it is nice to see another piece of the backlog get checked off.

I like the sword and board idea but agree - esp when you are using mag locks for the shield - why bother with a holster. Been cool to have a gun/shield hand/arm but It won't be hard to glue it to the gun arm I guess. Apparently theyere are different options for left and right gun/sword/shield hands so thats cool

I think shield-bearer thralls would have been a great option. Thematic and avoids the whole “can’t physically reach my own backpack” problem. Just treat them as token models like familiars.

Sounds very cool - might be some good conversions.

Thralls are really unexplored in 40k - be cool to have them in the game as something actually new but in lore for the Astartes. We know that some Chapters use their thralls more in combat than others.

Thralls would be fantastic for marines. Maybe make them combat units for some chapters and support units for others?

It would be really cool to see something new in the marine line that isn't just "A new marine with a sword" or a "a new marine with a gun."

I was going to say they got battle buddies, but I like your idea of servitor/thrall squires more. Unfortunately, I don't really trust GW not give something like rules for the sake of having rules on models. I still haven't glued down my Chaos Sorcerer in Terminator armor because I still think someday they might make it wargear again. Much rather just kit bash something and inform my opponent they do absolutely nothing in game. I already have a couple of servo skulls as tokens that are like that with terrain. They are just there as decoration and for the non-turn player to move around the table if they get bored.

Not enough Skulls....

Come on GW, YOU ARE SLACKING!!!!!

I would just like to see something other then a useless additional Space Marine. They are now to the point where they are now specializing in turning off the faucet, and others in just doing the dishes.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

How many melee specialist units Primaris Marines now have? Three?

I'm baffled by some of the way parts fit together there. I know quite a few of their recent kits have been fairly limited with pose-ability and such because of how things are modelled, but it's got to the point where for some reason you've got the front half of a torso, belt pouches, a single knee and a lower leg without a complete foot together as a single part? I just don't get how doing the parts like that makes any sense. Even more so when it seems to result in 3 very similarly posed and detailed miniatures, other than the arms and head.

It's to ensure you can't do gak with those parts other than use them for exactly what GW wants you to

That is, straight up, the physics of making hot plastic squeeze into a giant block of steel in action. The parts are like that so you can get all the detail the model should have without compromising the sculpt with big ol’ plane slices and filled in undercuts.

You could do basically the same pose as a single piece but you’d end up with lots of places with little or no detail and what detail there’s sort of smeared. They don’t want to do that and with their parting software they don’t have to, so they aren’t.

I would love a servants pack with a mix of servitors, gun servitors, chapter serfs and reload servo skulls with various ammo types.

Well definitely Assault Intercessors and Bladeguard. Not sure how much Aggressors and Dreads walk into that territory. Reivers we can just kinda laugh at.

Quite shameful that the kit includes only three shields. Lots of nice bits otherwise, but this kit should have had at least one spare shield.

Are those the ones with the magic anti-cover rifles or the magic hit again on 6s rifles? Woops. Auto-wound on 6.

They are the ones with the dual combat blades.

The blades that got nerfed to only -1 AP and no bonus attacks.
I'm not sure they count as a melee unit anymore. At least not by SM codex standards.
