The posing on this model looks odd because she has her staff held out in front of her on fully extended arms. It gives her arms a stiff pose and shifts her shoulders forward and inward. Makes her look narrow in the shoulders. Try it yourself. Grab a broom and hold it out a few feet in front of you at waist level. Being a heroic scale model, the shift in shoulder width is even more noticeable.

As for the face, it certainly has character. I'll probably end up painting both it and the helmet before I decide which goes on the model. It might not look so bad in a less contrasted paint scheme than GW used.

Yes - I agree this is the main problem. The upper arms are so divorced from the shoulder guards of her armour that it makes the overall shape appear very strange. If I pick this model up I am going to try reversing the middle section entirely so that she's holding the mace in both hands behind her back, instead of in front of herself. I think this might look nicer.

take the end off the staff and make a negative of a purity seal for it. she has the melting wax from the candles on her pack, so she just needs the roll of parchment to attach new wax seals to everyone mid battle. Theres the new battle field role, she goes around attaching purity seals on units that achieve some sort of victory in battle and doubles the VP gain or something.

The 'shoulder guards' are designed to look like a mantle from a religious order, not fitted armor like a pauldron. It looks separate from the shoulders because it intentionally is.

They've done this style fora few other religious type models, it just seems odd and unfamiliar because this also clearly supposed to be armor. I'm dubious how well it would actually work in reality (I would think it would limit range of motion and drag on the neck), but warhammer style vs reality just happens sometimes. (For example, I suspect the cursed city witch hunter has the first realistic hammer in decades)

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Not gonna lie, this might be tied with Lelith for the worst model GW put out in the past five or so years

I highly reccomend seeing Lelith in person before passing judgement--I actually thought it was a different miniature at first. Hopefully this gal will be the same, though I find it difficult to imagine her hamhands looking anything but awful.

Gloves look super odd on that mini, and helmet must stay on. It's a servicable figure I guess, almost like it more than that repentia superior with two whips....almost.

100% agree. This was my first reaction.

Sisters need the exact OPPOSITE of a Commissar - someone to tell them not to be so hard on themselves!

Also the addition of this concept retrospectively breaks the plot of a lot of great Sisters novels. There have been so many times in past stories when a Dogmata would have needed to be involved in events, given their apparent role.

This actually makes sense to me. In 'Dead Men Walking' a new commissar is told the reason that commissars are even attached to a DKoK regiment (as most DKoK regiments have a desertion rate of 0%) is to keep them from going too far. I could totally see the SoB needing the same help with that, if not more so.

Someone official there who can say things like 'yes, I know the Governor didn't attend church on Sunday, but we don't have to flay the entire hive for that now, do we?'

One of them filthy casuals...

It's funny how Sisters now have way more units dedicated to keep them from running away like pathetic cowards than The Guard and Marines have togatger

This. Not sure if it's camera angle or what but Lelith looks better in person. She doesn't appear as thicc and her feet aren't that bad. I think everyone is used to the "if I step on a sidewalk crack I'm going to snap my ankle like a twig" feet of the old Lelith.

While I consider GW's longstanding tradition of providing large pictures of their models (as well as 360 views) a good thing as it provides costumers with a good idea of what they're buying (and something I miss in a number of other manufacturers), GW's heroic scale is not suited to being blown up beyond the models' actual size. It works specifically because the models are as small as they are, and giving people a better look at the proportions is just going to end up giving the wrong impression.

There's no good way around that (aside from not making heroically scaled models in the first place, but that's not going to happen) and I've just come to accept that I shouldn't judge a model's proportions based on the pictures provided by GW. Makes my life easier, truth be told, and me happier with the models I actually end up buying.

I don't think that's going to help me with the Dogmata since my big issue with her is that the habit hides too much of the trademark Sisters armor. Seeing that I think would have helped with the pose as it would provide a familiar element as a point of reference. As it is she's just wearing a sack with two arms awkwardly sticking out. Not a good design choice in my opinion, especially considering the deviation of her shoulder armor from the standard power armor. She's too much not like the rest of the army, and any possible other problem she may have only amplifies my dislike of the model.

Uh, what? Looks like she has the exact same shoulders as the rest of the range, just covered by cloth. Canoness even has similar cover, just unbuttoned...

What is with that Sister’s fingers? The left hand especially, they’re so long and the middle phalanxes are longer than the proximal phalanxes.

I guess that sister is the Grinch in disguise.

Individual, movable shoulder pads are the exact same as a single rigid shoulder piece connected across the chest?

Yes, will be released alongside a Broken Realm campaign book if I understand the WarCom article correctly.

Well damn. Three new Witch Hunter minis in such a short time frame? And really nice ones at that. My poor wallet.

My only complaint is that these are more special characters and they just aren’t part of an Order of Azyr box for Warcry (let’s be honest....that would be too cool).

Nice models, I feel the guy is missing a pointy hat for the classic witch Hunter look, but otherwise their a win.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Well, the pointy hatted one is in the Cursed City box so I believe they were trying to avoid having the same identical model in multiple poses.

She has a hat version also anyway.

The discussion, with all the details, is already in the AoS thread.

Suddenly...AoS is looking very Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter...

No! I've already got Castle Ravenloft for this undead-hunting tomfoolery...so long as they don't tease a Caroline Munro-esque mini I will not give in dammit!

Nice try Geedubs, but this nut is not for cracking...

Whilst I'm immensely grateful for the sculpts as they can just be kit bashed to my desires.... Mannnnn, these new cool witch hunter models are just making me super jealous of what they could do with the inquisition if they really wanted too in 40k. I've said before and I'll say it again, AoS is getting the best models produced currently.

40K and AoS seem to take turns in borrowing from each other; for example, Kill Team and Necromunda led to Warcry while the Soul Wars was reworked into the Indomitus Crusade. Another example is The Old World being pitched as the AoS answer to The Horus Heresy.

It might be that GW is using Cursed City and Underworlds to revamp Vampire Lords and Cities of Sigmar in AoS 3rd edition, and then later Chaos Heretics and Imperial Guard/Inquisition when moving on to 40K 10th edition. Its interesting that both Kill Team and Blackstone Fortress reintroduced Rogue Traders, and all that Imperial agents jazz.
