Whoops. Just realized I forgot to get out my RT IG. I'll just share a few older pictures of them here.

Spoiler:

I also have a handfull of RT plastic IG as well, but I don't seem to have a picture of them yet.

I noticed the hint of your collection in your picture and I am seriously envious of the whole thing laid out. I've been trying to get one of every old metal IG model and a Mordian Lieutenant has been on my list for some time. Unfortunately I never see one for less than $20.

I should mention I did notice that some of the RT models have plastic weapons added on.

Ouch. I wasn't even aware they made more than the nine Tanith. Six in the box, three in the blister.

6 in the box, and 4 in the blister actually. I've done a ton of conversions and used a lot of Catachans and stuff to fill them out. The worst part were the plasma guns. Tanith never used any plasma, so I've had to Dremel alll of the plasma guns off, and replace them with either meltas or lasguns. Change a few heads here and there for some differences. It's been a lot of work, on top of trying to find enough models. So this army is probably the rarest of Guard models I could find.

Haha! Thanks, I had a bit of an ado in my identification thread figuring out if that Commissar without his breastplate was even an official GW model. He was nicknamed "Commissar Smith"

Wait, if Tanith never used any Plasma, then why is that the only Special Weapon they were modeled with?
Also, what? There are four more I need to collect?

No idea why they only made a Plasma gun. It's super frustrating.

If there's one thing I love about my RT IG, it's that they really had a variety going in those days. There wasn't as much detail on the models, but each one looked different and had character. These days it seems we're heading further back monopose with fancy stickers replacing variety and character. *cough "purity seals" cough* I hope when they make new IG models they look good and have the ability to make them more unique without a lot of putty and modeling skill.

Hm, that's really neat. I never knew there was a wounded gunner either.

So I went looking through the collectors guides and I have a slightly off topic question to ask.

Does anyone know if this model was only released like this or was he one of the not-actually-limited models they later rereleased?
http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/images/4/4b/Limited_Release_-_Special_Blister_Pack_for_Space_Hulk_Day.jpg

Because I swear by some strange coincidence, that's one of the models I've been working on cleaning today. I'm not 100% sure since the paint is so thickly caked on in some areas, but I'm pretty sure it's him.

Sorry about that people, they were all deleted due to the fact that this website has a strong anti-recast policy and we do not let anyone post in a manner supporting it. I was going to post a note to that effect but got distracted by a small human and nuked them all instead of just the offending post.

So, uhm, Please do not post in a manner that condones, supports or promotes recasting on this site and my apologies to those people who have been adversely effected by nuking of posts.

Out of curiosity, does that include recasts of long out of production models?

Unless it is something in the public domain then yes.

Ok, thanks for letting me know.

Hey guys, a quick request to put the awesome big compilation pictures in spoilers from now on. We've got nothing against them, just that on mobile devices they stretch out the pages and do not resize, so tend to turn the text on the pages into a mega tiny font, as someone pointed out to me via PM with the following helpful image:

The rarest I have is probably Maximilian Weissman's Baneblade.
I have a load of other FW IG stuff that's long since gone end of life as well as the old Last Chancers and a scattering of OOP commissars.

The Slouch hat wearing rough-riders. Long before the mongol-hat-wearing 2nd ed version replaced them. Same guy has some Guard medics on metal black shadow bikes.

Some rare ones there. Seen all of these in the wild except the Mordian Plasma gunner. Didn't even know he existed until this thread.

Now, as for rarest- here's one I have never, ever seen out there in the wild. The Jarran Kell mini as presented by the GW studio. No one has seemed to notice this one, not even the CCM Wiki or SOLs etc. but if you look at the studio version of Kell, he has a purity seal over his power sword and the banner is raised just a tad higher, like so-
Spoiler:

That is the pic straight from the GW site and is still used for that mini, despite him not actually looking like that. That studio mini has been that way since he first appeared in the EOT codex in 2003.

Now, for comparison- here's some examples of the Kell that is sold to you.

Spoiler:

Now, we know that pre production minis occasionally get out into the wild (the unreleased section on the CCM Wiki is a testament to this), or they get changed slightly shortly after entering production; for example I once owned a LOTR Balrog with metal wings, which came in 3 parts. I bought that at a Warhammer World open day, but the wings were swiftly replaced with the plastic ones that came with that and the Fellbeast kit. Had I known how rare that was I would have kept it! Anyways... I have never, ever in all my years seen that version of Kell in the wild. Did that mini ever make it out of the studio? Anyone ever seen that Kell?

Wow! I never noticed that either, but now that you've mentioned it, I've noticed that the LE Cadian Banner seems to be based on the studio version of Kell and not the release version.

For reference, here is a previous pic of my own (Sorry for the substandard paintjob. I swear I'll redo him better someday when I have the skill to do so. ):
Spoiler:

The Banner is raised up higher like the studio version and you can just see the wax of the second purity seal that would have gone over the power sword just above the chainsword.

Maximilian Weissman was a character who had his own Baneblade. It came with two versions of Max himself, one standing and another tank commander version where he could be out in the hatch.

Ooh, even rarer would be the (crappy) metal heads GW released alongside these as upgrades for your Guard plastics. I think nobody bought those.

Hey, I bought two sets of those heads! I have a thing about optional heads as a headswap is a great way to make a mini unique, the head is IMHO the most important part of almost any mini.

The rarest IG mini that I own is prolly the forge world kasrkin tank commander, but I do tend to collect rarities so it has a lot of competition.

I have a full squad of the pretorians including the casualties, which I think are pretty rare, but I'd probaly say that for a model that there are few out there still, I have an original forgeworld baneblade, all resin one with the track sections each a single piece.

I've never seen anyone else with them, and it was £140 or so back in 1999-2000 time, I don't think many were ever sold

Well, I can account for 2 of those sales. And Max makes my third for a full SH/LoW detachment.

Would love to own and have rules for The Last Chancers missions, I think GW missed a trick when movies like The Expendables, Losers, RED and The ATeam were coming out that they didn't rerelease edition relevant rules and missions for The Last Chancers.

I would love to see the Last Chancers come back in a usable form. As long as it's not some overpriced gimmick junk no one in their right mind would use seriously, I'll be happy just to see them on the board again.

He got them when you could get a full unit of 10 in one of those hard plastic clear clamshell boxes (I don't know if other countries ever got those. The biggest PITA for getting models out of. ).
By 2nd ed, they'd cemented the "units in card boxes with foam trays thing).
