I REALLY like all of these new ork sculpts. New Zogrod looks great.

I'm iffy on the head of the Mega-armor Warboss, because it doesn't look like a GW ork head. It looks like an Artel W ork head.

Right, because that's why they redid the Tau Fire Warriors.

Cadia is blown up, anyway.

The planet yes. There's a whole system.

Why do you think they make the Beastsnaggas ? Because it's something no one owns, including the ork veteran players. You want to play them ? Gotta buy them all from scrap.

You missed the part where they are not their own army, eh?

There's a bunch of different ways that things can play out that have the end result of "veteran players buying stuff". New weapon options in the squads, new units that are part of a dual kit with the squads, new upgrade kits that use the squads as the basis, etc.

The only one buying cadians is because he doesn't want to go 3rd party and starting a new guard army.
Because the only thing worse then cadians at this stage for that faction is catachans.

Atleast we the upgrade sprue we now got finally all the special weapons. Still though this is an insult.

People may want an entirely new guard kit, but I don't think they want to pay the prices and the reduction in compatibility with other kits and 3rd party providers that goes along with it.

Troke did say that it was "a couple of units" of the Boyz plus the riders, Nob, and character. That would be two boxes of the Boyz, the riders, Nob, character, and book.

Also, these beast snaggas 100% look EZ build. I expect they’ll either do a Necrons and release them in a box of 10 of these EZ build ones, or we’ll see a multi part kit in the full release.

Reality is futuristic human "normal soldiers" are harder to cover by copyright than, say, gothic Space Marines.

It's not that hard to find in the competition.

Guess they can make primaris sized guards, but that kinda kills the interest of the astra militarum : being a simple human in a galaxy filled with horrors that are way better than you in every aspect.

But didnt the guy with the glasses say that the upgrade kit is just a segment from the new guard kit, or something along those lines? Did I hallucinate?

Can someone bother to rewind that bit of the stream?

If what I heard was correct, there will be a new guard kit coming later, these are just the heads from the new one, you'll have to wait for the full kit.

Like I said, I'm tired of their falsely mysterious tease.

It's a grey knight vs thousand sons limited box, it's obvious. Can be Castellan Crowe or another character pulled out of their magic hat and it would still be a grey knight character "exclusive at launch" or something for the limited box.

It's just a tease for another future preview that will tease a bit more, that's all.

Correct, the way it sounded made it seem like they're going to cease selling the Cadian infantry squad as its current incarnation and instead there is a new kit coming that will feature this.

With any luck, it will be like the Genestealer Brood Brothers Squad, which is a set of Cadians plus a Heavy Weapon Team plus the GSC upgrade frame.

Don't need to, read the WHC article

which is why boxes of Cadian Shock Troops will soon be upgraded with a whole new sprue of additional parts.

I'm a bit torn. On one hand, yay Guard. On another, the Cadian box desperately needed to be remade, I feel. Depending on how it's going to impact the price, the new sprue could also make the army even more expensive to build, which is hardly ideal.

I'm liking a lot of the head sculpts, replacing the old lackluster ones is a quick and dirty way to make Cadians look a bit more fresh, though as mentioned above, the bodies are really too bulky, IMO, to make for convincing women with just a head swap. The guy with the ski mask under his helmet is my particular favorite from the set.

The Orks look nice. I'm especially loving Zodgrod, his slightly lankier physique and crazy hair-squig give him a real wild man of the mountains vibe. The Warboss is likewise a nicely realized concept combining the savagery and slight comic overtones of the Orkish aesthetic in a nicely synergistic whole. I'm not yet sure how to feel about the lore implications of the Beast Snaggas, but the replacements-for-Boarboyz-boyz are nice models.

One thing that's always puzzled me is that if orks and squigs are a part of the same ecosystem of related fungi, should they have the same skintone? Kind of want to see what the squighogs would look with a more greyish-green one, their studio paintjob is a bit too 90s for my taste.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Sure, but I hoped the Boyz box would at least give each dude one alternate build. Imagine a whole bunch of 20-man units in a Beast Snaggas army, all incuding the same 8 dudes twice over. Awful.

Weren't there rumors eons ago that Chaos Space Marines were going to get a stand alone sorcerer and it would have 2 helmet options, one of which was a Thousand Sons helm? Wouldn't be surprised if that's in the new box along with existing stuff.

I have no idea how they can tackle that book in the new format without supplements. It has 15 subfactions many of which are amongst the most divergent in terms of fitting into a unifying doctrine equivalent (Word Bearers/Night Lords)

I guess they could drop the 7 that were patched in during 8th.

My prediction for a while is that it releases alongside a "Legions" supplement to supplement all the legions. Seems like a very GW thing to do. Tack on a 30$ tax for a supplement for all those legions.

The Orks look okay, but also weird in that there seems to be absolutely no interchangeability in them? It seems the same body is always paired with the same head, the same gun and the same axe. Makes the repeated models stand out like a sore thumb.

You'd think they'd make those bits at the least swappable for a bit of variety, if not having entire arms swappable.

I bet it's an ETB box, just like the Sisters Army Box, which later got everything relased separately as multipart kits.

How noticeable you think boobs are going to be under a bunch of armor? Especially at the scale the game is, it's a bit silly to complain there aren't tits on the armor like with SoB.

That said, they should've redone the kit.

You're the one who started talking about boobs. If you think female bodies look identical to male ones, I've got some news for you, and for the GW sculptors who make a distinction in their other ranges. Even Eldar Guardians from way back in the dark ages have male and female options.

The better "defense" would be that the Cadians are deformed and anatomically inaccurate no matter what gender they are.

You've still chosen an incredibly stupid hill to die on. There are innumerable factors that influence physical appearance, from genetics to diet to training to sheer randomness. There's no such thing as Universal Male Body Mark 1 and Universal Female Body Mark 1. A squad of Cadians all being exactly the same height is far more anomalous than female Cadians not showing their hips through their equipment. At best, the features you're talking about are averaged-out features across multiple individuals, or culturally-stereotyped features. You can easily find two "male" bodies that deviate from one another more than another comparison pair of one "male" body and one "female" body. In the case of Cadians, a layer of clothing and al layer of armour additionally obscures whatever averaged-out features you're expecting to see.

There's nothing wrong with sculpting different bodies, but there's also nothing bizarre or absurd about using differently-sexed heads on one set of bodies.

That said, they should've redone the kit.
