Someone posted painted Cobalt on FB today and boy does it look lovely in Sector Mechanicus type grime. Almost ordered another set, but then I realized I'm gonna be better off doing it later, as whatever the new stretch goals are they'll be more useful to me than another Wolverine tank.

Is the wolverine tank only included in specific pledges? Only in this campaign?

I agree. If we do indeed get our Rampart pledge tomorrow, I will try to get a full review of the three sets on my blog with a few days.

it comes with the 'free' strech goal pack when you buy a core set https://gamefound.com/projects/archon-studio/rampart---stylish-and-modular-terrain/products/details/3429#/

but it's one per order unless you pay for more separately (and the stretch goal packs you order separately don't come with it)

Holy Toledo.

I went for the $49 pledge and didn’t get the closest look at the teeny little images. I thought that was just a bonus sprue, and I thought, “alright! Bonus sprue!” I expected them to have a bigger picture of the tank.

IIRC it's 3 sprues of bits plus the tank.

Our Rampart 2 late pledge arrived today. So much stuff! Three basic pledges came with three of the tanks, which surprised me. The Cathedral set came in what I think might be the retail packaging. Very quick turn around, just a couple of weeks.

If you are comsidering a late pledge I would get it in ASAP.

I will try to get a review of the kits on my blog in the next few days.

Question for GG, do you think any of the sets would work for 40k fortress walls? Something tall enough to be credible with battlements to put people behind?

Maybe the Cobalt Foundry?

None of the current designs look like fortress walls. There are some pieces that do not have windows or doors, that can work, but they have a lot of other details that makes them not convincing as fortress walls. There are also no good pieces included to make battlements.

The new design looks like it could possibly work as a fortress wall, but I think there are better options out there.

Mantic makes decent fortress walls.

Not quite as cost efficient anymore

Wolverine tanks used to be one per order, not one per core set. This might be an error in your favour. I think the Wolverine serves better as a Chimera than a Russ.

The Cathedral does have new packaging, the older packing looked like the other sets. It is the best of the three sets in my opinion, and has a lot of versatility for medieval and gothic gaming. Pick up the Apse set, it is relatively expensive by sprue count but is worth it.
I am fairly disappointed by the Cobalt set, the windows and doors are very weird. Cobalt does have the best walkways though, and the synergise well with Cathedral walls for a 'Cities of Death' feel.
Kazumi has issues also with the connecting square section columns, you may need to resculpt the face reliefs when you do building corners. Kazumi walkways do not work, or can they be made to work.

Stretch goal boxes contain some good stuff, but Archon has got a lot better at stretchgoals since.

Late pledges seem to have been continually active since early 2020.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I do not think any of the current Rampart sets would make good fortress walls.

As usual Orlanth you are a source of useful information and I agree with you.

And now, my review Archon Studio Rampart 2 Kickstarter…

TLDR: We are very pleased.

As someone waiting to play Ghost Archipelago with Wargames Atlantic Conquistadors vs Aztecs on Kazumi terrain, I feel a bit singled out by your blog post.

I got some for similar reasons…and for the upcoming Shadows of Brimstone Adventures games…and because my son is currently obsessed with South and Meso-American ruins and temples…and Stargate SG1. If we have fun with the sampler, I’ll probably make a second pledge in the new year.

Looking forward to see your Kazumi temple painted (tho if you are as slow painter as I am it might take a bit ) With regular air travel resuming I might be able to travel back home and get my cathedral pledge soonish.

You are not alone, I too am waiting for those elusive Conquistador and Aztec models.

Sadly I am a slow painter with a long backlog of work…so it may be awhile before you see my Kazumi Temple pieces painted.

Kazumi for Stargate… hmm… tempting…. No, must reist yet another genre… but so tempting!

I picked up the Kazumi temple partly because I like the mezoamerican design and partly for our D&D Tomb of Annihilation game - unfortunately I haven’t been able to get the DM to actually use them, though.

I ended up with 3 of the Wolverine tanks - they’re very nice and it caught me off guard that they’re a combination Russ/Chimera. They do look like they better suited as Chimeras.

This is a video I made some time back, prior to having painted the Kazumi ruins.

Shame about the delay but if they got an epiphany now on how to improve the project, so much better.

Well… now I think we can expect to see a bunch of miniatures as stretch goals for another terrain Kickstarter.

I could do without the stahlhelms making it look like more Space Nazis are coming from the dark side of the Moon.

But to give credit where credit is due, the terrain looks better than I expected… even if it is not something I need for any of my projects.

Would be amazing if they did a "townsfolk starter" equivalent from D&L3 for this next Rampart campaign. That set was practically worth the pledge cost itself.

I'm trying to recall if those infantry are actually designs from their Empires of Men resin campaign from quite a few years ago.

I'm okay with postponing things too.

Plus it'll give me time to catch up on trying to paint my D&L terrain.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
