I've heard rumors and murmurings the Horus Heresy release has been pushed "well into next year", not sure what that means exactly but I don't think we'll see it soon.

I've also been hearing rumors from unreliable/unknown sources that holiday battleforces aren't happening this year... I didn't put any stock in it BUT over the weekend I noticed somewhere on warcom (or maybe it was the livestream) that the red gobbo was referred to as being something ot the effect of "the last holiday treat in store for us this year". I can't find the source now but I know it was through an official channel because it caused me to raise my eyebrow as depending on how you interpret that the implication is that there are no *holiday* battleforces coming.

I don’t believe battleforces aren’t actually happening. This is the product like edition set (Dominion or Indomitus), which always happens, so no matter the odds GW will put it into a schedule.

As for the battleforces I predict in 40k they put Dark Angels, Sororitas and some xenos, maybe orks and drukhari. In AoS it might be ossiarch, stormcast eternals, lumineth, slaanesh. What do ya think?

Since orks got love this year, I bet one of the AoS ones will be some combo of Orks.

I feel like Sororitas and Lumineth are still too new? It takes about 2 years for new releases to be eligible for xmas battleforces.

I noticed that Dungeonbowl is a product that will be out this year when reading the Warhammer Day overview page description of it.

“What if you took Blood Bowl and stuck it in a dungeon, complete with mysterious portals, magical treasure, and competing Colleges of Magic all battling to get out with the most loot? You get Dungeon Bowl, a triumphant return to a true Games Workshop classic, coming later this year.“

I’m guessing it will be a Black Friday release. GW seems to like to release boxed games and boxed sets on Black Friday, so that would be fitting.

That's when Blood Bowl came out last year

Yeah keep in mind that the last time we had a similar leak of product photos like this, it was for Indomitus and that didn't come out until 8-9 months later. Mortation's leak was almost a full year before release.

I wonder if we really should even use the word 'leak', i mean, i think it's pretty apparent by now most of these things are leaked by GW.

It isn't.

I've been involved in a bunch of things that the internet was very insistent was a controlled leak at the time, and they definitely weren't and people were definitely fired over them.

Controlled leaks are very rare.

Yeah, because GW just loooves to kill sales of stuff they currently have on offer, especially really expensive FW gak (seeing plastic Mk VI look vastly better than resin range and will be far cheaper, too) for close to a year pointlessly, eh?

Then we have to assume leakers are either worst photographers in the history of the humankind or are deliberately doing bad photos. With even bad cameras of these days you have to screw photo pretty damn spectacularly bad(more like intentionally bad) to get as lousy photos as these leaks tend to be.

Yes, because of course every time there's a leak it's from people who could otherwise have crowded round the unreleased item in front of their managers cheering as they take professional level photos with perfect lighting and bragging about leaking it online.

Battleforces would be a strange thing to axe since they're almost purely in-house product.

If they can't get the boxes from china?

they could make them direct only and white box them but that would generate a lot of bad feeling with the distributors and independant stores so i could see them just dropping them for a year especially if they're as short on product as they seem to be and dropping them frees up casting time for all the new releases in the latter half of the year

edit: i supose they could white box for distribution, but i don't recall them doing that and i'm not sure brick and mortar stores would be happy with a bunch of blank boxes taking up shelf space without saying what was inside (online would work ok though)

GW has released this class of Battleforce for the last five years, and have released a total of 26 battleforces in that period. The first two years only had four 40K SKUs before bumping up to six in 2019. Here is the breakdown:

Tau: 4
Marines: 2
Tyranids: 2
Adeptus Mechanicus: 2
Necrons: 2
Space Wolves: 2
Astra Militarum: 2
CSM: 2
Imperial Fists: 1
Craftworlds: 1
Drukhari: 1
DeathWatch: 1
GSC: 1
Orks: 1
Death Guard 1
Blood Angels1

I'd wager heavily that we'll see:

+ Primaris – Heavy Intercessors, Eradicators, Servo turret, maybe IH themed
+ Primaris – Bike/landspeeder assortment, maybe DA or WS themed

Beyond that, all of these would be relatively fresh additions.

+ Orks – SpeekFreeks, All six of the buggies
+ Genestealer Cult – bikes, dune buggies, and some heroes.
+ Eldar – wouldn't be shocked to see banshees and wraiths, or maybe a Ynarri hodgepodge
+ Adepta Sororitas – Could honestly be anything
+ Custodes – A mix of anything.

Chaos options seem like either Thousand Sons, or maybe a Chaos Demon pupu platter, though that could be one of the AoS slots.

That said, given past performance, don't be shocked to see another Tau assortment :-)

As for AoS, Lumineth and Ossiarch seem like good bets, both have broad plastic ranges and are far enough from original releases.

What do you all think?

So you really think GW has an elaborate potato camera leak program to supplement Warhammer Community, including the Rumor Engine, and their Previews?

I'm not buying that.

Is easy to see when something is an intended leak or it isnt.

If GW acknowledges it in a couple days, or it was intended, or it was so close to release to not matter.

But when you have stuff like this, or mortarion, or primaris, and they go radio silent for months and months... then that was the good gak.

Not sure when the list was last updated, but following what's been confirmed today for pre-order next week, the remaining Black Templar kits and the Blood Bowl Kroxigor can be crossed off.

Here's what it looks like. After the Templars, there are four release weekends, maximum before Christmas.

Here's what's remaining in 2021:

+ 40K Black Templars remaining releases
+ Khorne Bloodbowl team/Kroxigor
+ Necromunda: Outcasts + Scenery
+ Dungeonbowl - unconfirmed
+ AoS Stormcast - Dragons - December
+ AoS Nurgle Battletome - December
+ Shadow Throne: GSC vs Custodes Box + Codices
+ Battleboxes

It's easy to imagine some of these being doubled up and so it's plausible to see it all coming before the end of the year.

That said, it's kind of wild how many $150-200 products are being stacked up at the end of the release calendar. In the last month we've seen BT LE, KT: Chalnath, and WarCry: Into the Spiderverse. And if this list is right three of the next four weeks will be primarily driven by expensive boxes.

I imagine we should expect to see GW doing online only bundles of stuff going forwards, if they hit the sweet spot on savings they'll get the sales to clear out some stock at higher return than people soaking the christmas army boxes through 3rd parties.

NOOOOOOOO!

Hoping that it was just a clerical oversight, but would make sense given the state of the world. That said, it looks like there might be some "web bundles" that offer a discount in the offing. E.g. this Nurgle Bundle is the daemons + mortal battleboxes with a pack of Nurglings tossed in for holiday cheer.

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/servants-of-the-plague-god-2021

Retail price is £135, bundle price is £94.50, so it represents a 30% savings and a break from prior GW convention where web bundles offer no discount.

Sadly doesn't look available in the US.

Supposedly(I think it was DaveC that posted it?), they'll be doing online only deals direct like they've done with these Warhammer Day things.

Best guess(this is from me) is that they weren't able to get boxes printed in time and they've had such weird stock issues anyways this year they opted to do something different.

Fingers crossed it's something like the paint deals they offer in-store, where you get to pick a bunch of colors and get some of them as part of a "buy x, get y free" promotion.

Shameful display. Webstore deals don't do jack for me as GW won't deliver duties pre-paid to me, no matter what they claim on the website.

Kind of surprised that Dungeon Bowl isn’t the Black Friday release and Black Templars are. GW seems to like to release boxed games on Black Friday.

Also Dungeon Bowl is in the Holiday gift guide at 160 USD. More than I was hoping, about what I was expecting.
