So gw does harmless bundle. Bohoo. Big bad gw.

Some people just are looking any excuse to attack gw. Guess because they are so lousy bad at coming up with legit critique they come up with lol-bad ones.

Probably because the very existence of this bundle is literally pointless at best, and an insult to their playerbase's intelligence at worst?

Its does actually have a point; encourage customers to hit the £150 limit to get that limited edition Primaris Sarge.

But yes, its little to write home about.

You know what they are good for? Seriously?

They are good for parents who find out that their kid wants to get into the game but don't know where to start. They go to the website and see here's a bunch of models from the same army, in a bundle, the parents don't need to get educated on the models or what goes with what. Same with grandparents who want to buy their grandkids a gift.

It really is time to stop blaming GW for kicking your dog. The website is not meant for long term players, we know where to get deals and where discounts are. Their website is for newbies and people looking for gift ideas. That's why they have wishlists and do promotions. They are not trying to compete for best discount against the FLGS or online stores.

Ok?

The criticism is that they’re pointless at best as they offer no discount.

No, it offers "no discount" from buying the SKUs bundled within individually.

There's already a discount present. Necron side is really the only one benefitting though.
$28 Overlord+$38(*2) Deathmark/Immortal set+$49 Tomb Blades+$60 Night Scythe/Doom Scythe=$140 Combat Patrol.
Individual items are $213.
There's a $73 built-in savings already.
Add in the $45 Warriors and $55 Ark to the $140 Combat Patrol, you get the $240 pricetag...which includes $73 discounted from the simple fact of the Combat Patrol being present. $313 individually.

If you want to make an argument that the Marine Combat Patrol isn't a good value? I'll agree with that. It should not have taken the SC: Vanguard components. It should have been full kits to begin with.

At worse they’re a predatory tactic to get the unfamiliar to buy them thinking it’s discounted by calling them a bundle.

$313 =!= $240.

You're welcome to believe there's no value to the bundles. You're welcome to believe that there's no real use for them, etc etc. But the Combat Patrol: Necrons is a $73 savings over buying the 5 items contained within by themselves.

LMFAO Nobody is talking about the discount in the Combat Patrol because it's available as a separate box already. There's no discount in buying the three items in the marketed limited time "bundle" compared to simply buying them any other time. Anyone could make the same "bundle" at the same price by simply adding all three items in it to their cart and ordering them.

Grannies not getting ripped off. At worst she just isn't getting the savings she would get if she took the time to go into a gaming store around the unwashed masses to find where to get the best price. If it really was a concern for grandma she would check online for better deals. Before anyone says old people don't do that they barely use their smartphones , I work with helping some of the older people in our church to get online and many of them have become very versitile with the whole pandemic. It's amazing what they will learn if it helps them to stay safe and still see/talk to their grandkids who cannot travel.

Legit LOL, I appreciate the audacity of the argument!

"Dear Customers, why settle for a 35% discount? What if I told you that you could spend a $100 extra and save 10% less? Do I have any takers!?"

I mean good for GW and I'm sure there is some non-zero number of customers who will use this offer as a permission structure to buy a new army. Still, you have to be a wicked GW fanboy to take advantage of this "offer" instead of getting a real discount at any number of web retailers.

For goodness sake, at least throw in a lieutenant/Necron special model or something...

They just did that with the "Make your own 150£ bundle" with a free marine sergeant model, and quite a few people have complained about that too.

Why would GW devalue their own product by offering deep discounts? That is exactly why they have trade partners to discount the products. Why make it look like you need to discount your products to customers when you are going to make money selling it to the discounters and they can take less profit?

Everyone seems to be missing the fact that GW will still make the money selling the item to Miniaturemarket or Element Games or whoever. Let them cut their own profit margins and deal with the hassle when they can just sell it at their full overpriced level.

The discount sets they do have are all start collecting bundles (Sure not as great of a deal as if you buy it through online dealers) and starter sets like Indomitus and Dominion. You save money over buying the parts separately and you get unique items in those sets.

What if GW started only selling the start collecting bundles online only and did not make them available to the online discounters. Would they still be a terrible value? Or would everyone get their pitchforks out. Just look at every years holiday bundles and see how fast they sell out. Sure stores can get them, but in very limited numbers and i see fewer stores discount them because they will sell even at full price because the discount is great. So when people complains about not getting a discount, it sounds more like entitled children just wanting more. GW is having a hard enough time keeping in stock, they seem to be doing just fine with these bundle on their site and I haven't seen them have to clearance any of these bundles out that has sat around for an excessively long period of time. You WANT more of a discount and you cry because big GW isn't listening to your genius ideas, but in the end you are still buying GW product. wether you get it from them where they make a ton more in profit, or you get it from an online dealer they still make the money. The fact people want to bemoan how they make their money is silly. It's not about being a GW defender or being on the payroll or a white knight, it's about being smart enough to see that GW is making huge money and it is because they are being shrewd business people who know their target market, not a person on a forum who thinks they are the target market and it should be catered to their wishes.

GW is a company, they're not our friends to worry about their feelings. As a company, they have none. And their profits won't be damaged by a bunch of complainers on a website off the beaten path of current hobby discourse.

So yes, if people want to complain about completely pointless bundle that exists to give a feeling of getting a good deal to a potential naive customer, they can, nothing is changed by it. The theoretical suckers will buy it (GW keeps doing them, they must be working), GW will get it's sweet sweet money, and some people here will save on going to real therapy by venting their spleen.

Kan isn't a corporate entity, so yeah, insinuating he's some sort of paid shill does count as an attack.
