Phenomenal. And the mini-me is just great. Another classic you have done great justice to. I can't remember if I still have this guy. He sure isn't painted, if I do.

Totally not part of my Marine force but in my defence they were great fun to paint. Slambo and Chaos Dwarf friend.

Brilliant synergy there with the big and lil bros. Love the background for them too.

The mottled red armour on the Khorne champion is a beautiful effect. He'd make a great basis for an inquisitor conversion, daemon sword and all...

Cheers guys! Wish I could find more of the old Chaos Warriors and their matching dwarven companions to paint together - though I really should not get too distracted from finishing off the Marines I have acquired to date, there's just so many nice sculpts to paint and so little time...

A long time between hobby sessions but I managed to get another Marine across the line last night.

Was good fun to paint.

Nice work bringing the basing elements into the pose. Jump pack looks great, too.

Cheers! I had several attempts at the jump back before settling on that approach... I'm happier with how the chequering went than the heat effect on the jets, but the jets were better than the other attempts!

I just need to find more of the darn jetpacks in metal, I don't have quite enough for a full squad...

Well. I didn't get the Christmas Marines done that I hoped to get done by Christmas... but I did get this guy done after Christmas!

Old school as heck! Gotta love that face.

Isn't he ever! Fierce eyebrows, stern look, facial scar... straight out of an old action flick.

That guy had great eyebrows, this guy has a great moustache... one of the Pirates from Rogue Trader is joining him as one of the Penal Legion members.

Another proof of why a Warhawk Jump Pack will always look out of place on a MKVI marine instead of the MKV resin pack.

Nicely done.

That's what's missing from all new GW sculpts: mustaches!

Great work making these older models come to life.

Killer 'stache. Love the helmet, too. And the lopsided bandana. This guy is all-around great.

Cheers! I had to google what the Warhawk jump packs were... I'm out of touch with the HH stuff!

It's funny how few moustaches and eyebrows are in the current sculpts... I didn't notice when painting the modern plastic stuff until I came back to these old minis and was surprised to find both sculpted on here and there!

He's another one full of character! I'm going to have to rummage through my primed minis and see if I have any more Adventurers/Mercenaries/Pirates to make a squad out of, they're all such fun individual sculpts.

Finally managed to get a mini finished after many months of not being able to. Captain Dozier - managed to fit in some freehand too which I was happy with.

Oh, yeah. He's a weird one. So many design choices here. Excellent paint, as always!

Thanks! I do wonder what the story is behind the sculpt - it looks as though his chainsword arm is a graft, and potentially the power glove arm as well given it's unusual design compared to the typical contemporary power glove/fist shape. Oh, and his bionic eye/skull... or is that just a cap and lens that sits in front of an uninjured eye?

I can't find out who sculpted him at this stage, either...

Thanks CB!

Ugh, so long between finished minis. At any rate... here's an old 1988 Terminator next to the 2025-released Saturnine.

More pics of the old mini here. It was a blast to paint... I didn't enjoy the modern one nearly as much, having to glue fingers on separately for the power fist felt like a bit much!

The exo-armour marine looks great! I am so jealous of how neatly you freehanded REVENEBO on there. What’s your secret?

I start off mixing the blue with a little while and outlining where the letters will go - much easier to fix mistakes when the colour is barely lighter than the base colour. Then I go for a 50:50 mix of the colours, then I go straight white.

It's just a smallish Winsor Newton S7 - I was using a size 3 Artis Opus for this and it's frankly easier with the bigger brush, but that brush is no longer quite pointy enough to pull it off any longer so I have resorted to the next pointiest brush I have. Having a bigger belly makes adjusting the viscosity of the paint much easier (smaller dabs of towel or water make less of a dramatic difference) and means you can work for a lot longer as the paint dries so much faster on the smaller brushes...
