That's very close to the current FW version. Might get a few games with the old guy as soon as the codex is out.

Think I need to go and buy the classic model as way to get the bad taste of this bad model out of my mouth.
We waited 3 decades for this... oh well. The spear is a nice touch, but everything else just feels off somehow.
Still not sure why the Avatar needs to be so big.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused. |

Really love seeing the model on warcom, very tempted to grab it when it releases. As for the more recent leaks I understand why they are moving Wraithlords to the Elite spot but it's a very crowded place already. Wonder if they're moving Wraithseers back to HQ or to Elites.
jojo_monkey_boy wrote:How does a leak like this even happen? I wonder what happens after the fact behind closed doors.
Also, those plastic flames are silly looking.
Marketing for some companies intentionally leak bits like this to keep interest going months before a release. They may also release an image 24hrs prior to a reveal to build credibility that the 'leaker' has real information, even if ultimately it doesn't matter since it's the same person pushing out the leak and the official image.
I don't know if GW (or whoever they contracted for digital marketing) is savvy enough for that kind of guerilla marketing though.

I think a lot of armies that have a large selection of units have a problem with this; even smaller armies do. It's why GW has been adding bonuses where if you take an elite slot character you can get another without taking up another slot(like Death Guard have). At this point GW needs to clean out some of their stuff or open up a new slot with a new designation.

Yes, a shouty bare head and a spear! So there are actually four heads and three weapons and all look good. It will be really hard to decide how to assemble this.
EDIT: Sorry, three heads.

Yeah splitting elites into two categories could work. I also prefer having Elites move into the troops slot (especially one that come in 5 or 10 man squads) and being slightly more expensive than your run of the mill troop. Like Immortals and Warriors or previously DA and Guardians. I would be all for putting units like SoB Celestians into the troop spot to free up room in the Elites section.

I really wish the avatar didn't have those flames coming off him, those don't look good. And I wish he, and every other model, weren't standing on some debris for no reason. And the blood coming out of his wrist is weird. Aside from that, he looks okay, pretty much how you'd expect, but with a boring pose. It's pretty cool that there are weapon options and an unhelmeted head, though. I suppose that's something.

Really digging the single crested helmet as well the barehead.
Im curious if the weapons will have different profiles. The axe is interesting.
Now I'm not sure if I should bother doing anything with my FW or hoard it until it goes OOP for monies

Oh, you’re right, the bare head was shouty all along. I misinterpreted the earlier blurry picture.

I do not do magnets but for those that do it is a really good way to have all options covered with just 1 model.

Well, in this case the actual preview is in the middle of the night or at 'feth o'clock' in the morning for a lot of people- including much of their usual audience. So, reminding people that it exists to check out the next day is probably a good idea.

There's a lot to like with this model but that bloody wrist does not look right to me.
It looks almost like someone swapped out a larger, much bloodier hand for a smaller one but then forgot to swap out the bloody wrist as well.
Given the other options, I had wondered if there was an alternative hand that fitted better but if there is then they're not showing it.

Might also be the paintjob. The hand is clean, but the arm is bloody. Painting the whole thing in blood might help it look better.

When I first saw it I thought "magma" rather than blood. I mean he is supposed to have a molten body and the only other phrase normally starting with molten is magma.
On a different subject I'm wondering how much taller he is from the current Avatar. I hate the thought that I have to buy another version of the same model to use him in games.

I really do wish, that they would do this new pose and options but with FW level of lava body detail and the second helmeted option. Sadly, this is impossible to achieve with plastic, so instead we now have those slightly irregular muscle groups and a paint job to make up for the lost effect.
And the bloody hand doesn't look like blood at all, it looks like he tried to hold a candle, but then forgot that he's from molten lava.
So, in the end, I'm staying with the FW one.
