It's very little to go on, but it does look like the Kasrkin camo pattern on the wrist

My biggest fear is that GW will just make karskins an upgrade sprue for the current cadian kit.

Spoiler:

I now wonder if the announcement of a new Combat Patrol next week is Cadians. There's supposed to be a new box of them(NOT THE REPACKED BOX!. The repacked box was announced before this rumor list was made) in addition to the Kasrkin.

That is 100% kasrkin.

The only Imperial Guard model I can remember that had an auspex was the stormtrooper sarge with a plasma pistol.

The older storm trooper models also had more squared off bracers.

Given they release with/after a codex and there's nothing to indicate guard getting a book, this is a stretch.

And given that they don't seem to have issues releasing units outside of a codex again, it's not as big of a stretch as you might think.

The SC: Guard box has been kind of an issue for awhile now.

Yeah this is very much the angular 'outlined' camo scheme as on the old minis and the illustration Kan posted on the last page, here's the metal kit:

I’m still thinking it might be Van Saar. Something for Ash Wastes.

So would the combat patrol be full of new but monobuild models? Like the slaves to darkness Start Collecting and how they originally released the new ork boyz? Not gonna lie, if that's what it takes for us to get updated cadians, I'll take it

If that was VS, it would look way more advanced. They use ovals, not squares as primary primitive shape. Not to mention no camouflage.

I'd be more worried to get shiny, new Kasrkin only to be stuck with the core of the army still being the ugly, old Cadians. Because then you definitely want to do something with the shiny, new Kasrkin but are stuck with the ugly, old Cadians to make up the core of your army. And that sucks.

Don't be silly. That auspex doesn't look like it belongs in Infinity.

I don't think referencing 40k rules for a KT unit is a good basis for that assumption, if you're postulating a guard kill team you're probably nearer the money would be my guess.

There's also the Gravis Captain and Primaris Ancient who received free rules, in advance of their codex release.

Simply put, the SC: Guard box has been a dumpsterfire since day one. Given that they've now been pushing HWT-less Infantry Squads(Brood Brothers box is the only one featuring a HWT) as releases? Introducing the updated Cadians that were rumored to be coming(Marshal Loss might have the screencaps of the description? It matched up to KT's Core Book p23) as a Combat Patrol, alongside of Kasrkin ala the Slaves to Darkness set or Shadowspear or Sisters with updated datasheets online would not be as far-fetched as you lot seem to think.

Sealed environment suit, chunky and robust auspex. I still think it could be Van Saar, or at least something Ash Wastes related (such as the new gangs we’re heard mentioned).

Looking at the camo, I do agree it’s camo. Originally saw it as a bit of shallow detailing.

Probably Karskin

I do want to believe that it's Kasrkins, with that camo pattern. But, isn't it a bit too obvious?

If it really is a Kasrkin (or at least a Stormtrooper), I am wondering where that put's the Scions in the future. The build for 40K has so far been, that you stick the odd units in a seperate detachment, to keep their unique abilities or have them in your army's main detachment sans unique rules. Kasrkin and Stormtroopers are sort of competing and if the IG dex needs one thing it's trimming down of the 4+ elite small units, not getting more of them.

But who am I kidding, if this is true, I can finally field my Grenadiers again under regimental rules.

Krieg! What a hole...

The idea was to perhaps allow regular IG armies to have their 4+ units intergrated in their Regiment, with Scions being their own thing, with the possibility of keeping Deep-Strike and maybe the hotshot Volleygun?

40k also isn't a stranger to subfactions having a significant amount of bloat by the virtue of units unique to them that aren't really all that different from the units in their parent faction.

Imperial Guard are the logical next faction to receive Codex Supplements IMO. Seems weird that thus far they have been basically limited to Space Marines.

CSM, SM, and Guard are basically the "Big Ones" for it--with Aeldari and Drukhari being the next ones.

Scions as an auxiliary unit with deep-strike, volleyguns as options vs Grenadiers/Kasrkin as DKoK/Cadian specific 4+'s with standard specials and a signature special to boot.

Elfs being shoved together into Craftworlds (and Ynnari being reduced to a 'craftworld' with weird build rules) suggests to me that its paradigm shift time, and the idea of supplements is being scrapped.
And Chaos Marines are doggedly (but slowly) sticking to god-specific legions are the only true variations and get their own book, no supplements allowed.

We'll see how Marine Codex 9.5 or 10.0 handles it, but it looks like an 8th edition concept trial that had no legs, rather than something they're going to expand to other factions.

Yup. Krieg Grenadiers already had their signature bit where they have access to some heavy weapons, but they weren't super hot, tbh.
