Nice repaints on those Dwarfs, and the latest works in progress are looking very industrious!

My only minor nitpick would be keep the base rims neat and consistently painted for that final touch- I know you have the bases on your radar though

Absolutely!
That is the last step for me, It will be a army-wide 3-step last step: Terrain bases, then black edge, then matt-varnish.

After multi-fail with resin casting

It is faster to scratch build the cannons.

Used half BrownStuff half Milliput together.

Shouldn't of mixed in the Milliput, broke at the edges.

Those scratchbuilds are an awesome creation, I love that they are based on glue tubes! The cracked milliput can be repaired... with MORE milliput!

Pete the Wargamer mixes his milliput with green stuff, which gives the best properties of both.

Thank you guys!
They turned out a bit too crude for Dwarf cannons. But good terrain pieces.

Progress
I want to be able to remove the crew pieces.

All failed castings for terrain.

Scratch built cannons look pretty decent with their paint on, but yeah, compared to the legit version they aren’t as fancy. Nice gate guardians for Karak Garaz-Ngol maybe?

Good start on the bases for the legit cannons, will you be magnetising the crew the main base? Patching seems to have gone well

The cannons turned out too bulky and crude, more of an Ogre-kingdom vibe than the dwarfs.
Karak Garaz-Ngol's lore I imagined to be a surviving group of dwarfs with single thane that, after the end times, stumbled upon an underground abandoned dwarven outpost. Claimed it, and secretly gathering the straggling groups of surviving dwarfs from various clans, expanding underground mine, restoring living and production quarters ets. The entrance is either a: hidden trap trap door in ruins above or a wooden latter in the underground abandoned mine from bellow.

Great looking bases, so much interest they almost tell a story of their own! Also love that you cut small leaves from a real leaf!

I love the finished bases, they have so much life to them and as Gobert says it adds to the narrative behind them. Great work!

Oooh those robots look interesting. Where did you get them from? Will they be some form of iron golems?

Thank you.
I am glad the bases turned out good, half way through I did not know what to do with them.
When I'll get to basing the rest of the army I can go back to this page and see the steps for consistency.

The robots I got at a local dollar-store, like 10 years ago.

Cool robots, seem like golems in their appearance. Nice OSL glow that their blades are giving off too. But it’s their peg crossbow that is my favourite part, with that spring I wonder if they’d actually work

Not gonna lie, I like the way golems turned out. There is enough detail in the crossbows, because they where dangerously bulky.
The springs and cogs where to sell an idea of a fantasy auto-reload mechanism. That would be pretty wild if they actually worked.

Thanks for feedback.

It is my fail proof beard solution, instant contrast. Thin yellow wash over white base and then just wash the lower parts in oranges and reds.

Just washes, very easy but effective.

Those robots are amazing, I can’t believe how transformative the changes were from a regular gundam. There I was thinking no way it could end up looking like anything except a gundam plus bits, but I was wrong.

To be fair, the robot-mech did already look like dwarf-tech.
