I have 27 of the KidsLogic Minitech figs and they're awesome. Backing for some that I don't have already, plus the new Zentraedi infantry.

Got any pics? I haven't painted mine yet, bit afraid some of the detail will vanish under the primer.

I haven't painted any yet (waiting to roll around to that project; I tend to paint an entire army at once. currently working on Epic Squats). I guess I could take a pic of the giant tote they are living in currently? haha

Do you need to have the physical models to use veritech transformations according to the rules? The most recent comment seems to indicate that as the poster is lamenting the lack of non-battloid variants.

Yes, I realize it's highly unlikely that the company will police wrongplay on your private tabletop... but they are based in HK now firmly under CCP control so it's not out of the question!

The base game comes with all three modes, so I assume that it’s officially required. Maybe because most of the various Valkyrie types look nearly the same in fighter and guardian modes, they aren’t providing models to make every Valkyrie a trio?

Never underestimate the pedantry of tabletop gamers! Yeah, the complaint seems to be that the variants (like Rick's VF-1J) don't come with the other modes. I haven't seen the figs so I don't know if details like the skull squadron markings are inset into the model also but obviously the heads are the big difference and I don't know if they're moulded onto the body or separate either.

The few I've seen, the details are modeled on, but that was Battloid mode, where the armor cover slides over the cockpit glass. In fighter and gerwalk/guardian, you really can't tell unless you flip it over to look at the head.

If folks do want to grab some figures, but avoid the KS, shout out to Aries Games & Minis - he's got some. Good guy, I've done business with him.

The amount of skulduggery the company is engaging in on Kickstarter doesn't exactly help, either.

Yeah, them apparently ignoring their prior delinquent kickstarter under a previous company name/creator profile until it threatens their new ongoing fundraiser is a bit too similar to the prior boondoggle. If true, it reminds me of Palladium completely ignoring Robotech backers for (6-9+?) months as their license clock was ticking until their funding for their Rifts boardgame was at risk under their new profile/apparent shell company.

I’m in for a buck to watch the show.
I just need some popcorn.
EDIT - and wow they won’t accept a pledge for less than $10.
I guess I’ll have to watch the show from the sidelines.

I feel that nostalgia can be a MF, and too many gamers have been scammed through the use of nostalgia. Be wary of those nostalgia goggles folks, they can make things far too rosy.

Yeah, it's not helping their case that the Valk's don't just come with all 3 heads, instead of having to buy those as completely separate models.

Looks like another swing and a miss, Robotech style.

It looks like there's no way to just buy add-ons. I don't have any interest in the game; it just looks like a clunkier version of X-Wing to me. I just want minis. I guess I'll wait and order them when they're available for retail purchase.

Wake me when the Zentraedi Power Armor guys with the guns are available. I use the non-gun ones for my own projects,

Wake up! They now have an "extras only" pledge level, so you can just buy the Zentraedi with the guns, KidCthuluhu!

I'm another Ex RTT backer and it's sad to see they are getting close to a week left and only ten percent of what the original was.
It seems this version is what the original plan was before big Kevin wanted to become the next GW and change everything.
No way I would back this now, and the money they are making isn't going to go very far. After Kickstarter and Harmony Gold
take their cut, plus manufacturing and global shipping, that leaves not much for anything else.
If I was Harmony Gold I would sue for damage to the license.

I really want to back this as it looks really cool but the hesitancy a lot of you guys are displaying is giving me pause, which is probably for the best. The savings vs retail aren’t that crazy and should be easily replicated in a Black Friday situation, so I’ll probably wait for retail.

Are these minis (and those stand alone minis someone linked) the same scale as the RPG tactics minis? Is RPG tactics worth picking up? A local store has the starter box.

Admittedly most of us are gun-shy because of our previous experience with another company but it's also true that our consumer spidey sense is tingling as well with this one based on things they've been involved with too. Whether or not they had any direct control over those may be another story though and we don't know. Between that and just general worldwide uncertainty about supply chain issues that depend on China, if you're not willing to just give up your pledge with zero recourse, wait until retail.

I don't know about the scale and your question brings up a good point in that I personally haven't seen a side by side comparison that I recall. Admittedly i haven't actually looked either. Regarding Tactics, I'd say the Zent minis are still worth picking up but stay away from the UN Spacy/RDF ones unless you enjoy clipping, gluing, and gap filling multiple pieces to just get a single space marine sized limb every time or having to do the same to get a laspistol sized piece like the valkyrie head.

I don't think I've ever seen Kidslogic do a Black Friday sale. I just have ordered from them several times in the past as they released new Robotech models.

RRT I think is a cool/fun game but the UNSpacy/UEDF/RDF mecha are a pain to assemble. The Zentraedi mecha are much easier.

In terms of comparison, yes, they are all 1/285 scale, but the Kidslogic Minitech models are much much higher quality. Here's a comparison pic (not mine). Minitech in grey resin, Palladium in yellow plastic on the right.

Thanks for the scale comparison! Do the Zentraedi ones match as well as that in size?

This is a pic someone provided to me when I asked the size question a while back on the FB group. the Minitech figs are the grey ones. Looks same size, just the Kidslogic look closer to the animation and Shoji Kawamori designs than the Palladium ones.

Cheers, folks! That is EXTREMELY helpful. The size comparisons really help me figure out how I want to plan out these purchases.

Yeah. I have a ton of the RRT plastics, so my actual intention is to use the KL Minitech figs as the "hero" mecha as they are better detailed so I can make them a little nicer looking.

I can't see myself backing another Robotech KS. I wish them luck. If/when it comes to retail, then I'll buy it. Too much risk in this for me.

I don't understand how people are apportioning risk to this? Palladium aren't involved at all, are they? While the subject is the same, none of the same companies are actually involved, are they?

No but from the first page

Also I see the below in the KS comments - this seems concerning (assuming its accurate) no?

This creator (Minitech Games) is a subsidiary or brand team of the company Kids Logic. https://www.kidslogic.toys/pages/minitechgames

Kids Logic has a separate Kickstarter account (https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/kidslogic) with a link to that same page in their about section. That account still has an unfulfilled project, with the last update in January of last year. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kidslogic/dragon-ball-z-smash-battle-the-ar-powered-miniatures-game

Not only did they misrepresent the status of that project during the campaign, they've now abandoned that project & account, and are trying to create a second account to circumvent the new limit on concurrent projects, and mislead users about their history with Kickstarter

so while there is a history of them sellling (some) of the minis to retail, and them looking good there may be issues with how they handle a big pot of KS cash and delivering a playable game
