So facebook flagged this up for me in an ad. and I don't seem to see it posted anywhere else. Might be of interest to Robotech fans, as the earlybird is still active. Looks to be a nice selection of mech models and a dogfight style combat game.

Sounds like the core game at least is 100% finished & ready to ship. I'm guessing the Kickstarter is mostly just to take preorders for the add-ons?
I ordered a few mechs from them last year. They are very high quality resin with a lot of fine detail. Took about 5 or 6 months to arrive. Although overseas shipping at the time was probably more of a wreck than it is now.

The stretch goals list both US dollars and Hong Kong dollars. I'm guessing these guys are based in Hong Kong?

From the text, this sounds like an updated version of an existing game that they published a few years ago. Has anyone here played that game?

Why is the basic set 3 veritechs and one lone zentraedi officer's pod?

And actually, no matter what, you get a single normal battlepod? Those things fought in swarms and got blown up a lot. Far more common than the artillery and recon variants. (let alone female suits or zentraedi just wandering about on foot).

Not sure why or how you'd insert the SDF-1 or a cruiser into this game scale.

The destroids and veritechs might be nice for a battletech fanatic though. Depending on the scale.

Oh I know (and I think what you get for what you pay for the game is a bit light), and I want to eventually buy some of their minis, but I'll never again do a Robotech KS.

I am guessing it is a Dog Fight, so 1 on 1 battle. The Veritech models represent the 3 forms of the single Veritech and the Zendradi is doesnt have a transformation so it remains as it is.

Yeah... it just doesn't represent anything from the show very well. Which was always hideously outnumbered but better tech and better pilots (with certain exceptions).

One less cm and I'd be buying all the Armoured Veritechs.

Although seeing how S&H is not going to double a pledge to Japan I might send some money their way.

I wish them well and it looks nice; I know this company has nothing to do with the previous debacle so I hold no grudge towards them. That said... screw Harmony Gold. They did nothing to publicly address that Palladium was screwing over their own die hard customers for years and instead just kept reposting their propaganda until it was literally too late and Palladium had washed their hands of their obligations. I didn't need to hear about Robotech skateboards and super deformed tchotckies while waiting years for crowdfunded rewards that never came.

Fool me once...

As I recall, the Dog Fight game is available now (or at least, the minis in it). I've bought the resin Super & Armored Valk from them, but the models are too expensive for a large game. Having to have 3 models for the veritech is ... ouch.

But as others have said, Palladium and Harmony Gold have poisoned the water so badly I'm not going into a KS for anything Robotech. I'd have to see the actual product on shelves/in hand before I put down money.

Interesting but wow yeah not a great history for Robotech Kickstarters ha.

Also I see the below in the KS comments - this seems concerning (assuming its accurate) no?

This creator (Minitech Games) is a subsidiary or brand team of the company Kids Logic. https://www.kidslogic.toys/pages/minitechgames

Kids Logic has a separate Kickstarter account (https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/kidslogic) with a link to that same page in their about section. That account still has an unfulfilled project, with the last update in January of last year. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kidslogic/dragon-ball-z-smash-battle-the-ar-powered-miniatures-game

Not only did they misrepresent the status of that project during the campaign, they've now abandoned that project & account, and are trying to create a second account to circumvent the new limit on concurrent projects, and mislead users about their history with Kickstarter

Caveat emptor. I bought two of their Robotech 'Minitech' miniatures: a destroid and a valkyrie. The detail was great, the destroid looked good, but the valkyrie had a badly miscast arm. I was able to get into contact via email with the company, Kids Logic, to ask for a replacement part. Even after providing photos, they refused to send a replacement, then simply ghosted me, stopped replying to any emails.

So, those were the first and last of their miniatures I purchased. Given their refusal to replace a single, defective part even after providing photographic proof, I would caution anyone thinking about backing that Kickstarter. I certainly don't plan on backing.

Even after 10 years the wound still aches!

It is important to note that Palladium is not involved at all in this, and that the company has already produced minis for Robotech.

Of course it is still the same Harmony Gold company. But even HG is not as toxic as it once was since they made peace with the Macross owners Big West last year.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-04-08/big-west-studio-nue-harmony-gold-usa-agree-to-global-distribution-of-macross-robotech/.171570

So yeah I am a burned PB Robotech backer and long-time HG hater, but I honestly say if you like the figures buy them.

I doubt I will, but that's more because of the Closet of Shame and the wallet of How Much Will College Cost?! than any long-standing gripes.

EDIT-I should also note that licensed games are riskier for KS than original games since you have the additional approvals of the rights holder and the additional costs of the license, I generally recommend only buying licensed games retail.

apparently this company has some issues too. Shame as I'd buy the SDF ships.

Just repeating Kevin Hamiltons post so people can be aware this can be a long scam. This creator (Minitech Games) is a subsidiary or brand team of the company Kids Logic. https://www.kidslogic.toys/pages/minitechgames

Guilt by association, going to bed with children you wake up wet and all that. Also, Harmony Gold can go feth itself.

Only way I'd buy anything endorsed by HG again would be if I was able to actually exist and for me to be able to actually check it before buying.

I've never heard of that saying, lol. It's kind of creepy but the logic is sound. If only kickstarter offered a diaper of sorts... A guaranteed refund/insurance for projects charged to every creator on their first project or any creator with a history of not delivering in full within a year of the advertised date as determined by a standard post mortem backer poll.

But having had twin babies... yep. The Spanish version checks out.

This is a big fat NOPE.

KS changed their campaign rules to disallow what effectively becomes a ponzi scheme, and circumventing this should be all anyone needs to know to just run, not walk, away from projects such as this.

Its not just caveat emptor, its 'open your damn eyes and look at the chicanery'. Youre not too cool to be robbed, and FOMO is gonna result in the only thing you miss out on is the money your throwing at sheisters.

There's a few out there doing battletch stuff, but mecha that isn't pure battletech or warhammer style is actually rather rare right now. Surprising, but despite how big things like Gundam and such are, there's a huge gap in the stl market it seems. That said I've a feeling it might be that the western english speaking market has this gap, but that the asian market might well have mountains of it, its just wrapped up on sites that don't have english on them so don't feature or appear in searches etc...

Also burned by Palladium, but on top of that, them utterly ignoring the people asking for ANY update on their other account's project tells me this is probably just a repeat of Palladium's clown show.

I waited for retail on the Palladium KS, and am still sitting on 2 starters, destroids, and artillery pods with 0 intention of them ever getting built/painted.

I will wait for retail for this as well, and take a look at it in the flesh.

I ordered minis from Kidslogic a couple times. Aside from some (understandable) shipping delays, I had no issues.

I’m mostly interested in filling the gaps in my collection of Robotech minis at this point, for Palladium’s game that I backed all those years ago. Most of these mecha were made by Palladium or I’ve bought from Kidslogic already, but the Zentraedi infantry look like they’re worth picking up. This kickstarter’s success increases the chances of more mecha being produced in the future, so I’ll back it in hopes of getting some Gnerl fighter pods eventually.
