Is there a limit to the number of endless spells you can bring in a list? I tried looking in both the 2121 GHB and the BRB for 3rd edition. No luck there.

There definitely was a limit of three added at 2000. As it affected my Gloomspite ES spam jank.

Not 100% sure if it's still in effect but I'll see what I can find.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I am going to double check my GHB 21 book to be sure I didn't miss it there. I also forgot about FAQs so I need to check those PDFs as well.

There is still a limit, it depends on game size, and it's found in the GH on the saem page with leader/battleline/artillery/behemoth limits/requirements.

I'm pretty sure it's still a max of 3 in 2000pt games.

Wolfspear's 2k
Harlequins 2k
Chaos Knights 2k
Spiderfangs 2k
Ossiarch Bonereapers 1k

Also need 1 wizard per endless spell

Thank you! I found it.

Correct. Thanks all!

Second topic, are there any of the spells from Malign Sorcery or Forbidden Power (I've got both available) are are especially fun (Not competitive, just fun) to use? I'm really wanting to try out the Gravetide Spell with my Soulblight, that spell model just looks cool as all heck.

My usual favourites are:
Lifeswarm: especially if you're loading up on Grave Guard.
Geminids: Incredibly powerful especially against Unleash Hell units. Not as valuable if you're playing zombie hordes as their rules get around the issues it helps with.
Palisade: Vampire Lord on foot and Necro are incredible pieces but vulnerable to being shot off.
Horrorghast: Tons of potential with the Soulblight/LoB abilities but will depend on what your group is fielding to really shine.

I really like the bridge but it's not as useful to Undead as it is for others

Endless spells are tricky, because there is a very fine line between just being bad and being exploitative, with most on one side or the other.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Yeah, but this is for very friendly games. So I don't anticipate there being much of an issue with the power level. A lot of the stuff my buddy and I run is considered to be bottom of the barrel already!

Umbral Spellportal & the McRib can make for fun shenanigans when they aren't being exploited--they go both ways, after all...

Prismatic palisade is one that presents a general usefulness (it is currently just out-competed by other options) as it blocks line of sight for EVERYTHING as opposed to forests which stop working once something has 10+ wounds.

In general, while endless spells can be moved through they are still quite useful for movement blocking. Consider a friendly unit with an endless spell 3.5" in front of them; the enemy cannot go past it since they cannot come within 3" and so must make a charge move from the other side. Alternatively, make it so the gap between the unit and the spell is smaller than the opponent's base size, so they have to go around.

Do endless spells block movement in a 3" zone? I was under the impression that they were ignored for movement, you just can't end movement directly on them.

Damn this took a while to dig up.

3" is in reference to enemy unit. Units are models. As per this only warriors are considerea models for rule purposes. Terrain and endless spells are listed as examples of other stuff

At first was wtf. Never seen anybody play it like that especially in 3rd when endless spell movement blocking was reduced. Was willing to humour thought maybe everybody just assumed wrong and (un)intentionally gw wrote so. Certainly took some time to find...

Guess you could arque no definition for warrior...but for further proof incarnate can charge endless by own special rule. If endless were enemy units no need for such special rule.

Funnily enough gw literaly wrote rule preventing 3rd party models which is super stupid as they can't enforce and people ignore it.

I think Ninth was referring to your own units 3" area of denial.

By placing an endless spell defensively like that you force them even farther back due to the space the spell takes up.

Possibly creating a failed charge or at the very least disrupting efficient movement due to it's footprint and the coherency rules.

Yup, precisely.
