Yes, I assumed the other two books would essentially be temporary.

The new rule book is the main draw - the other two just let you play immediately - till they're overwritten by whatever the "House of" books are called this time.

I wish they'd go back to some form of comparative melee skill - I'd love a comparative shooting skill too but don't see that happening...

I really detest the 40k static X+ to hit rule they've decided to use in necro. Of all the games they make, the one with model progression, XP and stat changes should have something more interesting that 'i hit you on a 2+'...

Even if they kept the X+ and you both rolled your A value and used some to block and others to hit, you'd get something more interesting that two people who seemingly hit a a blind man just as easily as they hit a super ninja.

But I expect this new edition will be more of the same.

This might well get me back into Necromunda
I dropped off the treadmill and the avalanche of books I missed out on were just too intimidating.

My biggest hope for this new edition is they drop the absolutely ridiculous "don't FAQ anything, instead just reprint the rule better next book" which meant you basically need to trawl through every book ever printed, as well as know the release order, to know what the rules were!

And just generally I hope they refocus the game 'down hive'. But given it's gonna be built around the existing miniatures that seems unlikely.
I'm not a fan of the fething planetary governor running around my Necromunda table!

Probably the less literary versions like House Escher, House Goliath, etc.

You sure it's not Dirk Hardpec, Punch Rockgroin, or Rip Steakface?

This new edition looks like what I expected to get in 2017. My main impression of what to expect up to then was a rulebook and a gangs book, possibly an extra book for odd gangs. Let's just say what we got was something else entirely. The game didn't get stable until 2023 rulebook IMO, that's 6 years later. How long will it take for the new edition to reach that level? Ideally this new edition would be released in 2019 then it could have prevented all the mess that followed. A new edition can clean things up, but will it? Also, compared to Blood Bowl, cutting all the bonus content allows for drip feeding the same stuff over again, looking like "new content" for new players.

I think KT got incrementally better with each edition. Underworlds managed to not mess up a working formula (by much at least) for each new season while I played it. Blood Bowl is at least playable with some back and forth, but haven't tried latest edition. I'd be happy to be surprised by this new Necromunda edition, but I lost all hope many many books ago.

I find it possible that the model for these new Gangs books are the HH army books for the last two editions rather than indexes. The N17 hardbacks don't contain all that much in the way of unique rules, after all.
