Anyone seen any indication of when the boxed set with the new Cataphractii is being released? I just scrapped my WiP Ultramarines Cataphractii in anticipation of replacing them with the new ones.

We've seen/heard nothing, but it'll almost certainly be January preorder now - unfortunately we've missed the pre-Christmas boat

Just popped up on the retailers order list - they should be getting them in this week, though the street date is listed as January 10th.

(With the Christmas break, we have a fighting chance of getting them painted up for the store Death Guard army before then ).

You know, I am not sure I am allowed to at the moment... Umm, more than you would want to pay, but a level that will make you think 'yeah, okay, that makes sense'.

Not sure that is useful

Cheers.

I would guess from that price that the Termies are actually going down in price together with the reboxing from 10 to 6.

I guess we should regard that as a win. Kind of...

Dang, good luck making non-Mk3 Breachers with those vambraces molded on.

Both of these units are really suffering from the stingy way GW does Heresy kits.

Really should have been one sprue per 5 Breachers, so they could have put on all the parts to make a really good kit.

I still can't work out what the chain bit on the left of the terminator sprue is for - chain bayonet for the autocannon?

Chainfist chain? But it's in both boxes, even the one with no power fists.

The old metal chaos terminators had a chain blade or regular blade under every shooting weapon (including the reaper autocannon) except the heavy flamer.

? some customisation for the guns.

Someone once said that "GW never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity"... I wonder who that was, and why I miss them?

Still, yes, a missed opportunity!

Still really looking forward to the plastic Glaive though - that should be something we get early in 2026, right?

Wait, why is HBMC gone? Since when?

AFAIK the plastic Glaive and whatever the Custodes spear teaser was are the only things left we know know must be coming.

Personally I'm hoping for another wave of Auxilia. Which would probably include inventing new stuff, as the only non-plastic units left in the Libre are Ogryns and Veletaris with flamers (and Flyers, I guess)

Aurox and Carnodon could easily come back. Solar Aux still need their Rapier variants as well, Astartes have theirs.

For better or worse? The new format, where the softback expansion books add new units? It is indeed entirely possible the other tanks will reappear.

I'd be very happy to see the Aurox and Carnodon claw their way back from Legends - in fact I just bought the STLs for both - but my gut feeling is that newly invented units are more likely. The Auxilia army list is... thin.

There’s definitely room for expansion.

If we assume Top Of The Line Toys went to the Legions (compare the Shadowsword and Falchion for one example)? Then any comparatively second rate toys would seem to find a natural home in the Solar Auxilia.

Still an elite fighting force, yes. But one to get the next best stuff. The more rugged designs which perhaps lack the speed and raw firepower of Astartes tanks, but are still powerful assets.

Third tier “well, it works and we can make loads, but all sorts of in-field drawbacks” would then be adopted by the Militia. There I’m thinking static artillery, antiquated but still functional battle tanks. Transports which are arguably little more than civilian trucks with added armour.

And within those loose categories? All sorts of design space exists.

I know and acknowledge that Marines get the lion’s share, and always have done. Aside from the main thrust of the historical setting being red hot Marine on Marine action? I’d argue the attention was necessary to make a proper, tangible distinction between the role of a Legion, and the role of a Chapter.

Likewise the Solar Auxilia now needs to push beyond Imperial Guard But With Brass Knobs On.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Do we think there is much likelihood of the Legion Basilisk or Medusa making a comeback? I see the official model for that is no longer listed.

I know you can get an enclosed Guard version, but I quite liked the old open-top, with marines throwing giant shells into the breach.

I wouldn’t say no, but perhaps not a priority in the face of their other artillery like the Arquitor.

I've got to say that there's just something awesome about the profile of the 40K basilisk which the enclosed LI/HH version just lacks.

The open top, manual shell loading and huge shield coupled with the massive dominating central gun just cries out about a huge artillery weapon that just lobs shells.

The HH version feels more neat, compact and mobile and just feels like a "lighter" gun all round.

The HH Basilisk is an insanely good model tho, apart from the anemic, rounded barrel. Did you know the breech enclosure is fully detailed with crew?

Oh not saying its not good and the 40K scale basilisk is old (even if it had a few revisions over the years).

I didn't know the HH version had the fully detailed interior though! I've mostly gone off the LI scale one - again its not that its a bad model its just not as "big artillery" as the 40K style (That shield does a lot of work)
