There are also rumors that the Marine Legions will get upgrade kits. I’ve heard that they will be enough to make the legion’s power armor unit and a handful of legion consul upgrades. Something like 10 shoulder pads, 10 heads, 10 weapons, optional head for a consul, weapon options for the prime consul, and a couple of Sgt upgrades. Supposedly similar to the Black Templar 40k upgrade vs the small sprue upgrade packs. So WE would get chain axes and gladiator weapons, DA would get big swords,EC/BA get fancy spears and swords, the NL would get a palm tree trimmer , fancy chain sword, and a sweet looking power fist. Some of them may get cool shields, guns, etc. but the focus would be to build a special unit. Again, that rumor was slated after all of the Space Marines had their core units. I’d wager it would be after Tartarus terminators get a glow up.

"palm tree trimmer"

I had heard vague mention of legion-specific upgrade kits, but nothing this specific. I think this is what Heresy needs, and probably in priority to filling out all the remaining units in plastic (although where on earth is my Sicaran Punisher??).

I could easily see GW splashing out on a few SoS units in plastic before finishing any other ranges. It's what they like to do.

Responding from my phone which is a bit tough to edit, but I’ve been hearing this since the resin Blood Angel bits were released. However, GW then released the HTH Weapons box. Then came the edition change. I think it would be a good way to drum up additional sales if GW released an upgrade sprue to let me make 5 Dark Angel Companions or 5 Interemptors I’d buy the kit. Heck same goes for my Emperors Children if I could build some Kakiphoni or Palatine Blades. They could do that for the Terminators as well for Phoenix Guard or Inner Circle Knights. They could tie it into the campaign books too.

Only stuff I'm waiting for release are the Sabres and the cheaper speeders. If they did do a bits pack for Recon/Seekers, I’d probably buy some too.

I’m avoiding Interemptors as I don’t fancy resin that fiddly.

Got the Cataphractii Knights set which wasn’t too bad.

Someone should have told that to GW on how they did the Skitarii Pilgyrms

It would be helpful if GW made legion-specific upgrades & transfer sets, going forward. Lets look at the upgrades for just the Blood Angels...
Armoury of the Blood Angels.
Helmets.
Shoulder pads.
Transfer sheet.

...and then...
Baal Predator upgrade.
Deimos Rhino doors
Contemptor Dreadnought upgrade.

That's six resin kits replaced with only two sprues, which would then become the following single Blood Angels upgrade kit...
1x Infantry upgrade sprue.
1x light vehicle sprue.
1x Transfer sheet.

...and would open up the possibility of Legion bundles. In this case it could be 10 Tacticals, 10 Assaults, 1 Contemptor and a Rhino.

I suspect this is the long term intent once the core kits are sorted and the other factions don't have units sat in resin jail.

I wonder if the economics of the legion specific stuff every make sense in plastic. Maybe the most popular ones? But the investment for a plastic mold is high, resin the inputs are higher but the mold is cheap, right?

There may come a point where even the resin stuff doesn't make a ton of sense. How much money do you make from a specialist unit someone buys once versus how much money would you net from selling that person a pre-supported, official STL for that unit they will have someone print one of? $40 STLs for a five good scuplts would fit the GW price point.

They made a Corpse Grinder weapon sprue lol

Tool costs are basically not an issue, that was a thing 20 years ago, not today

What can be an issue is production bandwidth; every casting of a legion upgrade sprue could have been a casting of the latest Marine meta unit instead

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

May be an intern accidentally pressing the big red button, but apparently most resin kits have vanished from the GW website (to an extent varying with your location - it seems focused on the European sites).

Could just be a glitch (15+ filtered things set to hidden); or could just be GW removing resin from their lineup.

That's often how they've done it in the past with removals; just wake up one morning and BOOM it's gone. Sometimes the warning comes days/week later or if there is a warning its a super short few weeks and then its gone (often with no new moulds so its as soon as stock runs out).

Shame if this is the case as GW still has some awesome resin kits

It's more likely an error though as GW was pushing resin with Old World and they are all gone and whilst they've done big removals in the past it was normally by game/army rather than wholesale.

EDIT I think it as glitch because all the resin and metal models from Old World are gone - its just showing plastics.

No resin showing on Mechanicum in the US. Here's hoping the missing plastic kits are coming.

This series is cool and it suits me being mildly curious about the lore of the Heresy, but maybe they should consider a mini-series of books or something? It would be ideal for those who prefer the lore told from a "historical documentary" overview, rather than a long winded BL series. "Lore of the Heresy" maybe?

I would highly recommend tracking down pdfs of the FW Horus Heresy 1st edition "black books" and "red books".

These excerpts Warcom are providing are a fraction of the lore that those books had.
Even the unit entries were dripping in fluff, with sidebars & snippets interspersed throughout the campaign sections.

All of those that Alan Bligh wrote were, as you say, "historical documentary" in style.

I think I might have to. Were there any particular books that covered the Knights? I honestly enjoyed the lore for AT: Doom of Molech, and pondered the purchase of Liber Questoris but wasn't sure how much lore they cover in that one.
