That sounds like some recent fluff. Sorry, but everything after and including the 5th Edition Tyranid codex is BS. The hive mind was a warp entity before then, and the Tyranids used the warp for FTL travel, not Narvhals or gravity nonsense. Also, before the Newcron retcon, the Necrons and Old Ones (and likely many of their creations) traveled to or existed in other galaxies. The whole retcon to everything happening only in our galaxy has made the setting smaller and the scale less reasonable considering the time spans and tech level. The retcon even had to eliminate Necron FTL (inertialess drive, and nerfed the space fold) to keep everything small and lacking in the grand scale of 3rd/4th.
The 5th edition writers made simple things complicated, complicated things simple, and big things small. Their fluff doesn’t hang together in a cohesive whole, even if you discard all the old material.
So, I guess if you liked the fluff where now Necrons use the warp/webway for ftl because they couldn’t come up with the science that allows Tyranids to make gravity bugs, then never mind. Automatically Appended Next Post: Xenology, for all its faults, lined up with the out-of-universe background given in the Oldcron codex. And the writers of that codex made it pretty clear where they were going with the background.
