I like them! The scheme is simple but has a good mix of colours, and the finish is gritty but not overdone. I am collecting ideas for my Ultras, and this will be added to the pile.

Cheers

It'll be Sons of Horus first - there's a thread about them somewhere down below, which is due an update.

Right, barring a chair that’s my home office/hobby space sorted.

Chair should be arriving tomorrow, which will mean it’s Modelling O’Clock once it’s assembled and in position!

The really good news is that, with the completion of the Whirlwind Scorpius, I am now completely up to date with all the new Heresy releases that GW has put out so far!

Lovely contemptor. The rust and grime look excellent! I like the less polished look that you normally don't get on the IVth.

Very nice indeed!

From a gaming standpoint, does the volkite pair well with the c-beamer on Contemptors?

I honestly have no idea ^^. I just liked the look and wanted a couple of unmistakingly dark age of technology weapons.

If memory serves in 1.0 you could only have 1 C-beamer on a dread, so having something like the Volkite helped protect it from deep striking squads which as they tended to come in close, would render the C-beamer less then useful.

This is my quandary with HH models. I have a reasonable idea of what will be effective, but it's not necessarily what I want to do in terms of the models. A big part of the appeal of the game is putting these weird looking weapons on things.

I like your Contemptors very much. I especially like the dust/mud effects, and the reddish sheen to the metal. There are a couple of stray blobs of paint that I'd clean up if I were you (like the dots on the lascannon barrels).

Both have high range. And the S value on the bigger volkite is high enough to start scratching paint so in a pinch you can impromptu use the Volkite to finish off a smaller tank with the C beam. Sure the C beam is the "better" at on distance but both are good weapons against infantry of any kind.

So yeah, it will do ok. Granted the fist is normally the best option because of brutal, but let's be honest, the contemptor is sucha good model, if you go in slightly non optimal that still won't really detract from it's performance.

Currently working on 2, soon 3 Heresy era projects in two different scales.

Today I finished a second Iron Hands Contemptor Talon for Epic 30k. Just base pigments and maybe shoulder decals left. 6mm scale, GW 90s models.

And finished the acrylic painting and weathering stages of my first 5 EC Legionnaires for my new army project. The stereotype is to do EC super clean and crisp, parade ready but that has been done to death by way better painters than me. And in the from darkness of the far future, there is mostly just war and very few parades. So I have gone for a weathered grimdark look. I want to depict my Traitor EC in battle conditions!

Just matt varnish, oil/grime and pigments left. Pretty happy with how these are turning out.

More from my projects can be found at my recently started hobby Instagram account @allalongthehobbytable if anyone's interested.

Did a Tactical Support Squad today for White Scars, with Rotor cannons because they have to either disembark or walk on from reserve when using ChogBros.

Left the pads off as I think I might want to print Heavy Support markings for them. And a fancy sergeant helmet.

I'm finally getting to use my Mechanicus transfers for something useful as it turns out one of the Iron Hands Clan symbols is just a skull inside a cog, and I have many of those.

Any you've managed to make Salamanders look cool, which is a feat. Sadly nothing can salvage the legions that are just... black.

I bought the Masters of the Chapter and two of the 6th Ed extras many moons ago when I first started HH with Emperor's Children. I ended up sticking two in my Iron Warriors and I've been dredging up as many rescue models as I can to prevent my bank from hunting me down. I lost the hammer for the Master of the Fleet so I replaced it with the sword instead. It worked surprisingly well and with a spare Firedrake head he looked relatively fancy enough to be important.

Awesome looking dreads there @Albertorius ! I take it one is the new plastic kit and the one with a more static pose is a resin/3D print?

That's it indeed, as the new one is very poseable I decided to take advantage of it... the downside is that it takes forever to assemble and there's some noticeable seam lines.

I don't really notice any outlandish seams in your build though? Anyways, unlimited posability is still worth it IMHO. I never liked the way the old Contemptors looked, the poses were subpar. Such stiff looking poses look passable on a Castaferrum, but not on a Contemptor.

I did fill them all, so I sure how not ^^, but for example there's a seam right in the middle of the torso, and on the roof od the torso (as it's a separate piece) and shoulders have big seams front and back that you need to fill up and clean. Getting used to resin prinded parts, it's just much more annoying xD.

Still, it's a pretty great model, and it's very easy to make modular (the gun arm doesn't even need magnets or anything, as it stays put just by pressure.

Stupid bloody winter blues. Got a touch of SAD, as it’s been miserable weather when I’ve clocked off work, then it gets dark. And it’s completely sapped my hobby motivation.

Hopefully I’ll get out for a walk at the weekend, get whatever the sun feels like doing and get it rekindled.

I want my EC Officers to wear the finest Artificer wrought wargear. Here's my Mk VI sergeant decked out in Artificer armour and one of the Legion's finest Phoenix weapons, perhaps rivalling the flashiness of even mighty Praetors of other legions.

GW plastic , FW resin and resin printed parts, and some cutting and filing to get the pose I wanted.

Very nice! You're right about people tending towards the cleaner, parade ready paintjobs for EC (and it certainly suits them) but it's nice to see a grittier take on them for a change.
