I'd prefer a normal warpfire dragon. Then again, it'll be galrauch but at the same time we all know that it will be warpfire dragons.

Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

I mean, moot point since the set doesn't build Galrauch anyway.

That sorcerer is alot beefier (admittedly with a deformity) and much more armored than expected.

Chaos Sorcerers have always been decently armoured and good fighters by wizard standards.

It rarely happened in actual games, but I am pretty sure back in WHFB a Chaos Sorcerer would also pick up something like an Empire Battle Wizard and just break them over their knee.

Chaos Lords being the best fighters in the game (YMMV if you rate Vampire Lords higher, iirc they were both so strong everyone else was below them) made them obviously overshadow the Sorcerers, but the Sorcerers were far from helpless.

Especially in 6th when MoT just straight made a Chaos Lord a Lvl4 Wizard.

Yeah, back when a standard formula explained increasing hero / wizard statlines in 4th and 5th edition, a Chaos Sorcerer was using a Chaos Warrior as a base back when a CW had a statline just 2 attacks and 2 wounds below a top-level human Lord...

Chaos sorcerers beeing able to hide in chaos armour make me think they could be corupted nobles dabling in the dark arts and teleporting to the battlefield to do their twisted art incognito. But this dragon mage look like he live a long and hard life hidden in a cave close to a bar that dont ask to many questions.

Even in ToW Chaos Sorcerer Lords are only 1 I&Ld off an Empire *General* (and better than a Captain) and come with heavy armour. I don’t recall it being much different in 6th-8th either, though back then Chaos armour was full plate rather than a ward.

Though challenging Empire Wizards in past editions was always dicey as they often had Van Horstman’s Speculum to swap stats and paste whoever tried.

Chaos Warriors/Sorcerors/Lords have always had a mixed heritage of "can come from anywhere as long as they prove themselves in the Wastes". Some Sorcerers are Marauder Shamans who've earned their Chaos Armor by deed, some are fled Imperial Wizards(Egrimm van Horstmann was the head of the Imperial Light Order of Wizards) who've made dark pacts with the gods and Chaos Dwarfs. Chaos armies have always been a meritocracy.

I like the sorcerer, they managed to pull off the "disfigured yet powerful" look nicely.

Fun times. Forever running out of magic items points because they could do too much. Beatstick or sage? Plus the Mark was so expensive you never had more than one lord and one hero.

They probably should have given a different rule for the mot. Rather than making a lord a level 4 wizard, maybe it have them 1 level.

But the mot on a level 4 wizard gave them army general rules, in addition to magic buffs. A sorcerer lord of tzeentch leading the army wouldn't be physically as equal to others.

And I always was a huge fan of that. A Chaos Sorcerer is still a Chaos Warrior with all that entails. To quote Archaon himself: "You think I am not versed in the arcane? HAH!"

It's a great resource for old miniature lines and the website has been around for almost 30 years. While I didn't see these particular ogres when I looked, I'd probably start looking at the late 80s/early 90s catalogue entries judging by the look of the sculpting.

The new Battle March: General’s Companion is available to pre-order next weekend, so we sat down with Dave from the design studio to learn more about this expansion.

Excellent little read this, like the idea of the Random Happenings for a smaller scale game. Really looking forward to where GW are going with TOW.

It's exciting. Looking forward to seeing more. We are pretty stoked on the thought of some really narrative battle development.
