Time to pick the topic for the April round of the painting challenge! Poll will run for 2 days. We had a tie for second place last month, which normally earns a place in next month’s vote for a second chance. I’ve picked “Doomsday” to join us this month, and added "In the Deep and Dark” to the list of ideas to show up later.

Salute: Soldiers at attention, duelists raising their weapons before a fight, or anyone showing respect for the worthy. Your entry should be acknowledging another. It does not to be a diorama with both parties, but your mini(s) should be the one showing the honor.

Fluffy! Easter bunnies, dire wolves, lions, tigers, and bears. Or the ermine lining of a royal coat, warm lining of a winter hood, or a trophy pelt worn across the shoulder. Let’s practice painting some fur.

Bean Counters: Have you submitted your TPS reports? It’s a new fiscal year for many organizations. Entries should be record keepers, loremasters, scribes, administrators, accountants. Keepers of tomes and wisdom, and grudges. Focus is bureaucracy, logistics, and counting. Vampires allowed (One miniature painted, ah, ah, ah...)

Doomsday: The end is nigh! Whether a crazed cultist prophesising the end of the world, or a vicious warlock ready to commit such acts themselves, your entry should be themed around an apocalpytic event, either one to come, one that has already happened or one that will occur as soon as your entry opens fire!

I’ve gone for Doomsday as I can surely get some more mechs done under that banner.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Fluffy would be good for me too as I have an animal adventures set here waiting to go

I voted for DOomsday, but as always I'm sure I can find something for each of these themes.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Kinda funny how I set the poll, but might have trouble finding things for two of the options. Luckily both of them are tied for last right now.

I voted Salute as I have a limited edition Empire duelist holding the blade up to his face. I should be able to find something for all of the categories.

My vote went to Bean Counters. I have a fitting model for that and it reminds me of the time my Lexmechanic killed a Bloodthirster with a typewriter.

But it seems the gun lobby is too strong for the other contestants. Booooo! Make tax reports, not war!

Nehekhara lives! Sort of!

I feel like Doomsday is to much of a gimme for a chaos army, so I voted Bean Counters, because an Emperor's Children bureaucrat sounds hilarious.

Struggling about in Asmos territory.

I voted fluffy because I really should practice my greenstuff-fur-craft.

But I'll compete with either of these.

Went with salute, but I should be able to find something for any of these options.

Perhaps unsurprisingly fluffy got my vote. But I think I can work with doom too.

And if my math is right, that should be time.

Stock up on canned goods and shotgun shells, Doomsday is upon us for next month!

Damn, no mouse kin for me, then... and I'd just primed them all.

Unless I can say it's post-apocalypse and the mice have evolved into the dominant intelligent species?

Otherwise... uh... I guess every day is doomsday for the Eldar? I'm struggling...

If the mouse kin are out on an adventure to save the world from the Big Bad, they could count

Anything post apoc is good.

Eldar are big on dooms, thwarting them and surviving them. Maybe causing a few.

The themes are vague for a reason. If you think something could fit, it probably does.

Excellent, doon of the Eldar. I might do another Eldar Dark Reaper Exarch conversion...I wonder if anyone has done exactly that same model two months in a row?

Cheers,

CB

PS: I don't think I have posted my protest song for Marine Month yet.

April/May ’20 I had RTB01 marines, but also some unique lead in each month, so it wasn't the exact same entry both months. And I’ve done the front/back half of squads, but never back to back.

Hm, don't think I have anything that fits too well.
I guess Space Marines are constantly fighting against the end of the Imperium? And some of those battles are truly apocalyptic? Gonna have to see if I have anything that works at least a little for me...
