Isn't that literally just a list of models in the codex that don't have plastics yet

I’d take them all the same.

Though if we are indeed getting Warp Spiders, what then becomes the Oldest Model Still Available?

I’m not sure how people can afford Eldar armies. Every unit is $60 or more, except for dire avengers and harlequins. The latter are are even more annoying, since it’s a 6 man squad with lots of options and they’re $15 cheaper than five man aspect squads

I think technically servitors are, though they're now under the range rotation thing and aren't immediately available anymore.

Eldar models are only updated every quarter of a century and Eldar get overpowered rules every single edition. You can build up an army over time and chances are you still end up with a viable army. Eldar are very stable in that regard, unlike a lot of armies.

The problem with that is the poor internal balance. One edition wraithknights are the hotness, the next they are garbage. Same with warp spiders, jetbikes, almost everything. As an army they are normally top tier broke, but what units get you there are always in flux.

Except wave serpents. They are always good.

Eh, low performance for an Eldar unit usually still means it's viable compared to the rest of the game, just that it's quite bad compared to whatever Eldar units break the game at the time.

Eldar also have their limited weapon options going for them. We occasionally saw fluctuations in Exarch options, but Eldar by and large escaped the death of variety brought by GW's no model, no rules obsession. A balanced Marine army used to be a pretty safe bet, too, before Primaris signaled the end of classic Marines and heralded in the era of no model, no rules. Eldar are pretty resilient to that.

If you want to slow grow an army, I don't think you'll find many better choices than Eldar, especially if you actually collect an Eldar army, not just an army spammed with whatever is most broken at the time.

Sans Yriel and Illic Nightspear, yeah. And technically autarch skyrunners I think are still metal/resin?

True.

I forget what edition it was, but I was looking at Falcons (because I love them and own a pair) compared to WS? Hot garbage. Compared to SM preds? Roughly equal.

One perk of never getting new kits is that NMNR just passed us by. Don’t need to worry about loosing options if things never change. It helps that most of the vehicles and weapon platforms were very modular and shipped with all the options pretty much all the time.

Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks coming to Kill Team probably explains the huge area of open water nobody can cross on the new game mat....

Jump/Fly troops will be bent so makes sense GW would release new shineys to take advantage....
