Complaining about having to cut some hoses off of a model at a flush surface is a bit silly given that it requires no more effort than that needed to get the parts off of the sprue in the first place.
Plus - free hose bits.

Designer's Note: Hardened Veterans can be represented by any Imperial Guard models, but we've really included them to allow players to practise their skills at making a really unique and individual unit. Because of this we won't be making models to represent many of the options allowed to a Veteran squad - it's up to you to convert the models. (Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition)

Compared to the original artwork of Coteaz, that new cover comes across as if it's not even something from the same series/setting, but rather something far more colourful and cartoony with a completely different tone.

Llike almost everything digitally drawn past 5th edition. Gone are the days of marvellous artwork by Karl Kopinski, John Blanche, Adrian Smith and many many others. It’s all just tasteless product wrap now.

The Necromunda artwork would beg to differ...
Why they can't have a more consistent quality is beyond me, although in this instance having to use the very bland base model isn't going to help.

Lemartes looks very good. Astorath's shoulders are somewhat awkward.
Who knows what is going on with the release strategy at the moment. I do wonder if this might have been pushed up because of the very bad reaction to the IA Codex, or if it's just a cockup.

I know it's just the camera angle, but Lemartes looks like he's lost a chunk of his torso somewhere along the way. Also not a fan of that steel ballgag he now apparently has.
Also Astorath is continuing that space marine tradition of one foot leaping off a rock that was made popular by Ragnar and Dante i see.

Lemartes is a bit plain but helmet is cool.
Astorath looks goofy, but he always looked goofy. If anyone in the line needed a change, it was him. Pretty uninspiring box set overall. The new Asmodai beats both of these characters for quality.
And yes, whoever did Coteaz probably did Astorath 😂😂
Edit: on second look, it’s just Astoraths face/mask paint job that looks silly. That’s an easy fix.

That Lemartes is quite a different feel than the original miniature, and I think i do prefer the more stoic look he had before, but that Astorath seems like another miniature that feels like a cheap imitation of the previous version. Just doesn't seem an improvement to me.
