I find the new one looks far better- actually fitting the C'Tan and necron aesthetic rather than being some minion of Nagash who got lost and tripped over some scarabs.

Maybe if was on a slightly smaller base, he wouldn't look so... unfinished.

He looks like they spent a lot of time on the top part and then just slapped a giant base on him.

Naw he's just a hovering model where you want all the attention up top. Plus they already did the exploded rocks thing with the Dragon.

Also never overlook the joy of a less developed base. It means you can rebase it onto your own MUCH more easily because there's just energy links down there. Sometimes a really detailed base is a nightmare because you either have to hack half the model apart to rebase or accept that one model in your army won't fit on the custom bases you've been using for the rest

Oh, whoa. Not until 2026. That was leaked way early.

EDIT: Ah! From the WarCom article, this box is the last one in the Tomb World series. So yeah, this was leaked way before they planned anyone to see it.

Perhaps only a few days, depends if there is a middle bit or if the next season is two 2-part series. Deathwatch vs Necron with the terrain out in September, then Sisters vs Raptors with the big boss out in January 2026.

A third one would make sense in the middle, with perhaps a fourth one rushed to make space for 40K 11th ed being more like the Inquisition vs Chaos cult set.

The Nightbringer will become the culmination of the story that begins with the new Kill Team: Tomb World boxed set, which will be up for preorder in just a few weeks’ time.
And tomorrow, we’ll be looking at two new Kill Teams, which will be arriving around the same time as the Nightbringer.

I think this picture really shows the problem I have with the miniature

It's a fantastic update, other than the size. Look at how much bigger it is, but the only reason it's like that is because they for some reason decided to make the bottom half of it unnececarrily take up a huge amount of space, with an extra-large Robe end that's spread out wide and Scarabs to make it even bigger. If it weren't for all that, which doesn't even particularly add anything as it's just empty filler really, it wouldn't be too far off from the original.

I think I prefer the old one. The new one looks too furious. And not sure all the added Necron stuff really help the look.

I don't know, the older one looks a bit silly in that music frontman way.

The new one will at least be significantly less likely to tip over on that base.

The size of the Void Dragon has kind of set the precedent going forward. If the new Nightbringer was going to be much smaller than the Void Dragon there'd inevitably be some people moaning about that. I expect the Deceiver will get a similar size increase whenever that resculpt comes along.

It’s not like a massive glow up in size is out of line for minis based on old metal models. Greater demons, Avatar of Khain, etc. They now get to be giant centerpiece models. The scale of the game has shifted dramatically over the years.

I guess the generic C'tan will also get new models, maybe?

I would seriously doubt GW would release any other c’tan model in a large time window around the release of a redone Nightbringer, it’s not even just a big release they wouldn’t want to undercut but I guess the finale of this series of releases.

Putting Nightbringer as a Kill Team release could mean that they can drop the Deciever alongside the next Necron codex. Hopefully alongside redone Lokhust Destroyers/ Lord

Unlike those examples the Nightbringer isn't really that much larger - the old model on a flying stem wouldn't look out of place next to the new one.

It is basically the same size with lot of "air" to make it appear larger, easier to break and terrible to transport
just another "never touch it after painting" model not meant for gaming (which is ridiculous as KT release)

The only thing I don’t much like about the new Nightbringer is that it appears to be actually holding its scythe in the manner that some mortal peon might hold a gun. As though it’s a separate piece of equipment and not the thing’s sheer malice manifested through its necrodermis.
Fortunately this can be corrected with some simple adjustments.

on the forum. Obviously

Eh, I don't like the new one. From a technical standpoint it's impressive, but in terms of composition and practical design it's inferior.

You can't really use it as a game piece because it has too many fragile flowing bits, and it I daresay it actually has worse composition compared to the original because it's too "active"; it lacks the stoic, alien menace of the original (a feel that necrons are supposed to have) and instead is flailing around like some damn anime character.

The paint job isn't doing it any more favors, as it makes it look even more like a cartoon character, like something you'd find in WoW or Fortnite.

Ok, my Void Dragon is pretty solid despite floating in a web of fragile looking lightning - I don't know how you guys handle your models but I have never been worried about breaking him. The only thing that has happened once or twice is that the tip of his spear is caught in a sleeve (it is sharp!) and needs to be untangled.

It's the damn Lychguard who keeps having their phase blades broken off than annoys me and is the reason I always pack super glue when I'm going to play a game.

I hate models with swirly stuff. The base model itself is ok, but all the unnecessary detail on it like the necrodermis cloak, scarabs (totally out of place), the swirling ribbons behind the back are horrible... I'd rather play my old nightbringer than get this model, and I'd rather not play him at all rather than rebase him on the unnecessary large base...

This seems like the kind of model perfectly suited to magnetic trays, but would be terrifying to use in a foam case where parts like the scythe can snag and break.

As far as the tabletop goes I would much rather use the swirly guy on a large base than the resin model whose 40mm base will tip over if you breathe too close to it.

I've never run into one of these butter finger gamers either.

With only minimal sculpting I think he'd fit right in with a Nighthaunt AOS army, a more ghostly paintjob and he'll look like a Grimghast boss

Shame about the leak really, I feel bad for the team involved in putting it all together because I'm sure they'd have enjoyed the reveal at the appropriate time.

I think it's a great new mini, the lower half could maybe have been toned down a touch. A slightly more muted colour scheme will really make it spooktacular.

I agree it’s a shame about the leak, feel bad for he team behind killteam on his one.

As for those hating the model, are you all on crack?!?!? It’s stunning. I love it. Huge upgrade on the original but easily recognisable as the nightbringer. If it’s too delicate for to handle without breaking go play imperial guard or Marines where you can hamfistedly throw your boxy tanks around with glee. 😂

I can't decide if he's Doctor Doom, The Silver Surfer or a Grimghast Reaper.

Good shout actually, I wonder how hard it will be to get rid of all those scarabs.
