Got promoted sideways to the Victrix Guard, didn't he?

Seems like a step down to me.

No there was another one between Cato and Titus.

They just killed him off because only characters with stories survive

Did they kill him off? Another alternate option for some of these missing captains is moving over to new founded Primaris chapters as captains or chapter masters there.

Warhammer community post kind of implies the new Necron guy got him.

The Omnissiah’s messenger told me this:

The current Captain of the Ultramarines' 2nd Company is Sevastus Acheran, who took command after the former captain, Cato Sicarius, was lost in the Warp.

We’ve had a lot of 2nd company captains.

Agmammon was captain before moving to the first.
Sicarus, who was lost in the warp for a bit, and when returned moved to the victrix guard commander
Acheron, who took over wen Cato went on his walkabout.
And now Titus.

It’s a nice looking mixed command squad, but I’m a 3rd company kinda Ultramarine. So not my guys. Might pick it up anyway, but the budget is not bottomless and the pile of shame is already loaded with more then I can paint in a few years.

500 worlds looks to be our end of edition campaign. I wonder how much they are going to charge for something with a ~6 month lifespan?

"As for Captain Acheran, the former leader of the Second Company… well, there’s usually only one way Space Marine jobs open up, and we’ll be taking a closer look at that next week."

So either we're getting a short story next week about how Acheran meets his end... or maybe he's promoted to Dreadnought status

Wasn't Titus also the captain during the first space marine game?

Which is 200 years before now?

So does that mean it went:

Titus>Cato>Acheran>Titus?

Or were there more captains after Titus first stint.

Gw has a bad habit of keeping characters alive forever if they get a model or some merch investment. Making promotion in a chapter entirely reliant on how much merch their leadership cohort has...

Titus was only borderline canon until recently, his captaincy was never brought up in any books/codexes. After 2 came out they went back and fixed up the timeline to make him canon-compliant, he was very briefly captain between acheran and cato I believe.

I think Titus was between Agemmon and Sicarius., and again after Acheran

I really like those human members of the Wardens of Ultramar. I have always been interested in seeing the Ultramar Defence Auxilia and such filled out. And unlike Nevelon, I do have a 2nd company army.

Did they say when Captain Titus is due to come out?

Oh good. I was getting the shakes from not having a new Captain/Ancient miniature since last Tuesday.

Also let's make a Necron Destroyer Lord!
To replace the Lokust which is just shy of a quarter century old?
No!
To replace the Quake boss which is stuck on a sprue with a Cryptek?
No!
To replace the other one ..?
No! Welcome to the Redundancy Department of Redundancy.

Yeah, I like the character Necrons got, but I would've loved a new Destroyer lord and resculpted Destroyers to match the aesthetic of the rest of the line.

In terms of the Roman Aesthetic on the Ultramarines, Sicarius looks like they went with a senator/ classic look whereas the new Titus seems more like a field commander. He looks vey much like Maximus at the opening of Gladiator when he fights the Germanic tribes

Decent reveals, even though Gadriel and Metatron are a bit bland. Absolutely looking forward to an Auxilia release down the line, astropath is a great sculpt.

Necron wraith lord looks cool, I'd probably give him another head. Kinda miffed we're getting UM vs. Necrons again, but looking forward to the narrative.

Tau look strange, can't put my finger on it. Votann is whatever and the whip nid is alright.

Nice to see the Marines vs Necrons pair-up of 9th edition making a return, but not seeing the appeal of this Titus chap. Not against it though as his model would look good with a helmet on and his warden-chums seem to give the Ultramarines a bit character, and they'd be nice models as Rogue Trader characters.

The Tyranid Prime is quite nice.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

I reckon the earlier Ultramarine boys were meant to be revealed here also, until they were shown early due to leaks. Might be why they casually threw in the other xenos solo characters to fill up the time.

End of edition narrative looks a bit dull so may be a case of stay the course til the edition ends.

If they released squads of Ultramar Auxilia I would lose my mind!

It is a bit weird to have a commander of the militia as an advisor but not have the actual militia.

Do we need more for 40k rules then a paint job on a guard force? While it might be nice to actually embed some marines into it, or special ally rules, if you want to get some basic human soldiers on the field, we have an army for that.

And if we want special models for them, I think we can get in line behind all the non-cadian/krieg/catachan IG regements.

We could use IG for them, if we still had proper ally rules. But we don't. The concept is specifically to field marines and normal humans together. Also, making it bespoke thing that is intended to field alongside marines, it is easier to balance than allied IG would. And new models are always nice. (And they should be of course be "chapter serf militia" rather than Ultramar militia specifically.)

Though I would definitely be happy with just bringing back allies, as it would in general make army building more fun.

I for one am appreciating the irony and outright hypocrisy of Guilliman here.

Mr Codex Astartes, the Primarch that conceived of, argued for and arranged a decentralisation of Imperial Armed Forces. Because no individual should ever wield the sort of military power a Primarch during the Crusade wielded.

Except for me, with my little pocket empire and its mortal warriors being at my beck and call.

Yes! Guilliman being a power-hungry hypocritical despot is absolutely the best angle to that character and the only thing that makes me tolerate him even a little bit. But I don't think current GW writers are even aware of such nuance.

I'm not saying that I think it would be a good idea, just that I would like it (and buy it).

Though that does raise some questions: Are there more people who play Ultramarines than there are people who would play, say, Vostroyans? Are there more people who play Ultramarines than play Astra Militarum altogether?
