Your pedantry is noted.

10 is a normal squad, and as I said, small for HH.

I remain convinced it was a spelling mistake that went to print and they just ran with it.

The Dark Angels look cool, but I'm not a 40k player.

FEC look great. That Varghulf is amazing. I don't play FEC, but that may pick one up to paint. Looks amazing.

That Kruelboyz Underworlds band is one of the most uninspired Underworlds bands I've seen. Kind of a shame because generally these UW has some of the best minis out there.

Excited for Heresy Assault Marines, definitely need some for my army.

Enforcer vehicle looks really solid too.

They really made Night Lords before they made Noise Marines -_-

I dont disagree with you on any of this, i'm just pointing out, they could have put asssault beakies in boxes of 5 instead of boxes of 10. Glass half full, yknow?

Night Lords got minis before Emperor's Children.

Ok.

Oh and Valrak was right. Again. Again. That's going to annoy a few people.

And I just had horrid thought: "Night Lords Squad" as a specific unit entry in the upcoming Chaos 'Dex. A vestigial unnecessary bit of clutter, like the "Lieutenant w/Combi-Weapon".

Didn't expect a Night Lords kit for Kill Team.....looks pretty cool if you ask me. Seems like a strange choice to do a subfaction specific Kill Team before more generic things.

I guess I have enough CSM extras and leftovers I guess that I can just start a Night Lords army on the side?

Guess this is our new normal. Valrak being a reliable source of rumors... next time I hear him say he heard a Rogal Dorn kit is coming for 40k, I'll believe him.

Did Tomb Kings need a bone dragon?

No.

Am I glad they did it anyway?

Yes.

Bone Dragon looks pretty awesome.

Also looked like on the ground we can see very old skeletons (booooo) and the previous Tomb Guard kit (yah!!!!!).

This is such a thin preview. Showing us half of everything. Didn't even make a full hour this time, with 7 systems.

So... a normal GW preview.

Honestly kind of surprised they didn't show us the Tomb Kings range like they did with the Brets, "very early 2024" implies January or February to me.

I like that the Venator's plastic.

Weird that they didn't show off the Mandrakes, if in fact that's a 2P box.

Old World will follow AoS in requiring every army to have a Large $175 centerpiece model.

Pretty sure Fantasy had them for all the factions too (maybe not Dwarves?), they just weren't as expensive because of inflation and GW constantly increasing prices greater than inflation.

I've been saying this for years:

GW previews are like normal previews, but in slow motion.

You have to wait for their next preview to see the other half of what for anyone else would be a full preview.

I mean, FFS, previewing half a new KT box. Who does that?

Honestly I felt like this preview went fast. They used to spend a full 10 minutes I think on each preview piece, this time they kind of spoke to the extent they needed to and moved on.

Assuming they dont get the Dark Eldar treatment and don’t actually get rules for 40k.

You aren't wrong. It wouldn't be so strange if they were Warhammer community reveals - but showing off a single part of a box feels just bizarre.

I don't mean actual time the preview takes to show in slow motion.

I mean the rate of reveals is very slow.

The mummy king gave his bone dragon a headpiece so you'd know he's a special bone dragon.

Nothing too amazing, especially considering they made their countrymen stay up halfway into the night to see it.

A Protoss colony world

Wow, some nice previews here, even if I was hoping for a little more... well, more. My thoughts:
Orikan the Diviner: Nice looking model for sure, but I can skip him since I don't play Necrons.
Asmodai: Now THIS is a way to improve on an older model. I play Dark Angels so I'll have to get him of course. I just hope he has good rules this time around (for the first time ever); he'll never earn another black pearl if all he does is guard my shelf!
Deathwing Knights: OMG I WANT THESE NOW SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! Seriously, I love the original Deathwing Knights (as it happens I'm working on a squad currently) but these are a definite improvement, and not just because they match the new Terminator proportions. I'll probably get two boxes and give them the swords since I already have a mace squad. We'll see how the rules measure up though.
Flesh-Eater Courts stuff: The models are interesting and well-executed to look like what they are, but that aesthetic is not my cup of tea. Plus I don't really want to start another AoS army right now.
New Kruleboyz Underworlds team: Probably some of the coolest Kruleboyz sculpts yet; if there was a scene for Underworlds locally I might actually consider getting them.
HH Assault Marines: I really like the models; if I was planning to play Horus Heresy I'd definitely grab some as it's a nice kit with lots of options.
Palanite Enforcers Tauros Venator: Ayy, they brought back one of my favorite vehicle designs from 40k and turned it into a cruiser. Palanites would be my go-to if I wanted to collect a second Necromunda faction, so it's nice to see them get some vehicular support.
Night Lords Kill Team: Unexpected, but very cool. I doubt I'll get them myself but the models do look great.
Tomb Kings Bone Dragon: Wow, that thing is awesome! Almost enough to get me to actually play TOW when it releases, especially since Tomb Kings would likely be my army.

As far as the 40k codex release schedule, it's nice to see that they plan to release a bunch in the spring, as so far we've only got two dexes released and the edition is nearly 6 months old already. Yes we've got Necrons and AdMech dropping soon (tm) but this has been the slowest codex release rate in the last three editions so far. I am of course super hyped for Dark Angels as they are my first love in 40k, so it's going to be a long winter for me. I just hope they are getting more than Asmodai and the Knights (would love new Ravenwing Black Knights or something).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 25 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings
