Looks like a Death Fields kit, but doesn't match any existing set I'm aware of. Has a very 'steel legion' look, but WA haven't previously made close clones of other companies kits, and the Raumjaeger already cater to those wanting a vaguely steel legion vibe. With kits for American, British, French, and German forces, I'd have expected the next big one to be Russians, but I'm not getting a Russian feel from the image at all. The other obvious in-demand style would be Arabs, but the clothing doesn't seem loose enough, and a trench club doesn't feel right either. The boots look like cavalry ones, so it might be that they are based on a nation which is famous for their cavalry, like Mongolia or (my best guess) Poland.

The email also said "Mood: trench-y!", so maybe it could be Weird War/Trench Crusade-adjacent?

The chunky barrel / muzzle of the gun looks too Death Fields / Warhammer styled to me. Trench Crusade tends to have more realistic gun barrels, and 'weird war' stuff is scaled to fit their historical kits, so should probably have more reasonable weapon proportions too. I guess it could be some more Marcher or Reptilian Overlords stuff, but it doesn't seem to match any existing miniatures or art from them I can find.

Looks like we're got the release date for The Damned Army Box. So... I guess it's over? Finally, after the three years, The Damned get a retail release...? Honestly, after all that happened it's hard to believe that the whole debacle is over, but im so glad it did. Personally I won't be buying the Army Box, but i'll be waiting for the separate releases for all the Damned army components as I kinda got myself a little "selection" of what I wanna get for my homebrew system.

With how long people waited for these, I've got a a feeling this'll be sold out in 24 hours, hah.

Basically it says that the release date of the Damned Army Box is next Friday, 29th May.

Wonder how the Dark age army builder bodies would look with the extra damned heads and weapons. Maybe get a few upgrade sprues... Would make some good mook villain troopers or gang members...

Good question!

WGA historicals are generally smaller than Deathfields, but I recently used a Raumjaeger head on Dark Age Army Builder body and it fit pretty well.

I know he looks a little bobble-headed here, but once I primed him it's not even noticeable.

(now if I could only settle on a color scheme )

Looks good. and prompted me to buy an army builder box and an upgrade sprue box.

That army builder box is a great value and it's great for kitbashing:

Are they the same size as the dark age Irish and the goths? I have to dig... but I think I have at least a sprue of each somewhere. I will test the damned bits on those if I can find them.

^ I don't have the Goths, but I do have the Irish. They seem a little beefier, but that's most likely just be the clothing.

More kitbashing:

They do look really good. On lunch I found my goth sprue. I think the damned bits look ok on them. I cut off the left arm and used the shotgun arms and a head from the female Damned sprue.

The Damned Army Box at £75 in today's market seems like insane value. The Mauler at £40 gives ne pause for thought.

At £29+ for a Death Fields unit, the army box certainly is. Certainly a good purchase if someone missed out on the Kickstarter.

I have paused at a Mauler but it's the same price as a Chimera, which is an equivalent model. I wonder if the armoured section can convert to a bunker or emplacement if one goes for the open top version.

Wow at those prices the infantry feels super cheap and the vehicle super expensive....

Yeah the pricing for the Mauler got me pausing and saying "uhhhhh...?"; still gonna buy two tho.

Remember the Mauler is 3x the tooling costs of an infantry sprue.

At 45€ I'd certainly not buy it just for the sake of buying it, but if I needed more of them for my army, in a heartbeat (tho I would check discounters first, obviously)

Checking back, I paid 120$ for a pledge of 3 Maulers, which technically isn't much less that retail, but I did get 14 free sprues with it - I think that's literally the amount in the Army Box

£38 for the Mauler is a bit rich for my blood, but the army box is excellent value.

Release Schedule: I had taken down that page because it was a pain to update manually. Working on a new system. But in the meantime we have also updated how we handle releases.
We are settling into a bi-weekly (every two weeks) release tempo going forward. Last Friday (May 29) was the first of these with the Damned Army box and Mauler.
This coming Friday June 12 will see two new sets for the Quar - both cavalry. June 26 will be the Barons’ War Retinue and Mounted Command boxes.
Then on July 10 are Egyptians and Shipping Containers (if DHL can find one of those molds!!).
There are two new bases sets that will slot into those dates as well as - face it - only I get excited about new plastic bases!
Going forward there will be a new release every two weeks. It might be one set, two, or three or more depending on what’s happening. And of course some games will slot into those spots as well.
This is our ongoing refinement of systems here that started with dumping preorders and moving to global release dates (ie products in both the US and UK warehouses the day they go on sale ready to ship).
Here are the other sets that are queued up for release after the ones above:

Boxes printed and/or product already in one of the two warehouses:

Rifleman Harris
Dark Ages Cavalry
Late Roman Legionaries (2)
Next up:
Villagers (2): Elves and Dwarves
Warring States Armored Infantry
Gladiators
CFB Horselords
CFB Landsknecht Ogres x 2
Quar Starter #2
Three Damned sets
Pete the Wargamer Set #3
50mm Square Movement Stands
DFA Starter - with two new teams
More CFB and Quar
Secret Imperial Conquests set
Hardsuits
More Warring States

And of course there are ongoing restocks that just happen as they complete production and ship to the warehouses. And also lots of outsource work for other companies mixed in there (about 1/2 the tooling and production we are doing now is outsource)

That should give a good picture of what’s to come over the next few months!

Happy Wargaming!

Tony

True, but for some reason that logic rubs me the wrong way. Yaay, it's cheaper than GW's tank that used to be 40 bucks...

At 30 bucks it would be a "yes-please"! At $40 it's still a fair value, but at that price there are alot of really cool 3d printed Chimera substitutes out there.

All this to say, it's been interesting to see -over the past decade especially- how GW's skyrocketing prices have moved the Overton-Window for what we consider good-value at the value/bargain end of wargaming.

Vigo. Spain.

The Mauler its way too expensive. I dont know if thats what they have to sell it for to be profitable, it has a good amount of sprues. But its not a great vehicle kit even compared with older GW ones at basically their same price.

And the Damned Army Box is good but tbf it could had been better. I love Wargames Atlantic and have a full conquistadors army for ToW with halflings, but when talking 40k here, we are comparing their miniatures with more modern ones, and The Damned would had been fine alongside 20 year old cadians in style and proportions. But we no longer have those.

I agree that , outside rising costs yadda yadda, GW prices have allowed many others to raise theirs in a way that is not justified by the quality (Like many Mantic kits prices)

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I dunno... I would pick the Mauler over the Chimera at the same cost any day, both as a build experience and as a sculpt.

It does feel like Atlantic RRP has gone up by like 30% in the few years since their "we're absorbing the rising cost of shipping" post.

And Mantic asking GW prices for happy meal sculpts is indeed... tragic.

Hoping for some more hints of what that previous news letter picture is as the lower body looks like it could fit perfectly for Steel Legion proxy.
