Introducing Warhammer Relics – The Official Warhammer Merchandise Festival Every year, we celebrate the vast world of Warhammer miniatures at Warhammer Day, and our massive library of video games with the Warhammer Skulls festival, but we don’t have anywhere to salute the mountains of marvellous Warhammer licenced merchandise with the attention it deserves – until now. Many lols at Displate thinking anyone is actually gonna do that above their sofa, but anyway.
Little protective boxes are something I'm surprised GW haven't done before, but they're not very... Warhammery tbh, and the prominent screws are kinda ugly.
We've made it enough to get an "official" DK guide. Woo. Still good times, I remember the days when DK got a bit excited about SW Episode 1 and printed a copy of the guide for every fourth man, woman and child in the UK and nearly went bankrupt as a result.
On a more positive note, a Darktide card game in a box could be a lot of fun.

Scrolling through, with pictures partially cut off, there was a moment I wondered what part of the sofa/cushions/throw was meant to be "Warhammer officially licensed".
I need more sleep...
(Although, it's probably a matter of time before every part of a home's interior is feasibly Warhammer branded.)

My first thought at looking at those display cases is they seem to have cracks on every single side where screws are. So the model is safe but its also open to dust getting in a LOT

I'm not particularly interested in the ever growing merchandising arm of GW.
The ultimate guide to Warhammer 40K miniatures does sound interesting though. Depending on what mood I'm in when it comes out (and assuming the price is reasonable) I might pick up a copy.

Honestly the Displates I'm interested in - the Bret Pegasus ones look awesome. The History of 40K could also be a very interesting book depending on what's actually inside it and how its formatted and such.
I think when it comes to merch its about hitting a wide spread because we all have things that do and don't appeal.

With regard to the DK book, I suspect it’ll be fairly “general market” and not geared toward those already heavily invested in the hobby and its worlds.
An alternative for those interested in evolution of the worlds might be the John Blanche biography thing, Blanche The Rise of the Grimdark

Honestly I'm more creeped out by the idea that pricey centerpiece models are some sort of precious investment, hence the mind-boggling 'Keeping your miniatures safe has never been more important' line.
But at least they decided to have some honesty and pop grey plastic in the cages.

I have some Burgschneider historical and fantasy costume clothing for larping. Decent stuff for off the shelf and at a decent price. Curious to see what new products they bring out for GW.
Certainly some of it looks good for the Copper Dragon folks at Drachnfest….

I just don't get the point of most of that, the displate stuff in particular. It's not even good Warhammer artwork? The graffiti marine heads are bloody dire.
But then I say that "what's the point in that?" about a lot of things so each to their own.

Definately interested in the DK book.
If I had the wallspace, I'd be considering the Dispate art - the Bret stuff (I wouldn't mind a deck of playing cards made off the first trio, actually) or the space marine helmets I do like.
If I had the body, I'd be getting the Burgscheider stuff or having the wife mock something up (she's in the SCA, does her own costumes). But considering I'd probably look like Henry VIII, I'll have to pass.

Agree on the marine heads, but I quite like the Bretonnian one and am likely to buy it to mount in my nerdcave.

If they keep on making old world/WFB merchandise for the household, when they eventually kill the game again the guy that burnt his dark elf army will have to burn down his entire house this time round!
I'm all for a good branded mug, pen, poster, or action figure to brighten up the background of the never ending zoom calls of modern life, but GW are just sticking their IP on any old tat now. The candles are still the biggest low they've released, but this just screams corporate IP branded goods and having a 'day' to celebrate it is just...cringe.

What's likely happening is that the merchandising firms are making good money and the more money they make across multiple brands the easier it is for them to just slap another brand on more generic mugs, cushions and whatever that they've got mountains of and run with them.
So GW itself only has to "generally" sell well to keep getting more brand items
As for too much I think its really just a case of scattershot and hit what you can. A lot of the Brand items will appeal only to niches of the already niche market. So you try and hit all of them and get a good income across a broad spread intstead of just a really limited block
The only one that stands out to me is Joytoy who seem to be dead set on making it possible to play a full 40K game with Marines and Xenos out of their toys.

It would certainly frightening your wife if you look like him. You could save it for special circumstances though...

Joytoy does infact sell terrain in there scale, that I assume is same as 40K stuff. So if you got a few spare piles of cash, a table (Stadium) is possible!

I actually quite like the marine heads (although individually... all three together look pants). The White Scars art and some of the Bret stuff is not so great... but the key with this sort of merch is that it's really quick and easy to throw together and assuming it's print on demand there is very little upfront investment involved. And some people will buy anything hobby adjacent even if it's not great.

Thanks for reminding me! I bought one of those kits (Mecha Depot Staging Area), tried to push-fit assemble it twice and gave up both times. I need to dig it out and attack it with tools...
