Massively simple paint job but rather fun and effective.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Female Custodes are painted with golden base . I also made the second model with the same body, but with head and weapon changed for helmet and sword.
At first I chose this model as a joke, but at this point I think they are not that bad. The green blade was a test of colour, but I think the metal one will look better.

I might not be able to enter this month. I was busting my ketsu on this guy...

...only to realize I don't have a proof photo. I thought I did, but apparently not.

I have a potential backup plan (the proof photo is already on Dakka) but I don't know if I can get to finishing it. We'll have to see what time & humidity have to say about that.

But I'm loving the competition. Keep up the good work, everyone

The Custodes are ready. I must say I am positvely surprised how they turned out.
I tested the Tamiya golden paint and glossy black base on them, and I am happy with the results. Metallic paints on 3D print usually look more rough, but here the gold is quite shiny.

And remember:

So I present:

Well it might not be the triumphant return I might have hoped for but here it is.

If you ever wondered what your giant goblin-mount mole creature would look like if you fed it enough magical emeralds this is apparently the answer.

Month is slipping away, check your progress and make sure you are on track.

Reminder that there will be no vote for next month, due to the tie this month. “Footslogger” will be our topic for July, so break out your good boots.

I'm suffering from overexposure to real life again. Good thing I didn't pick anything ambitious this month as I haven't made much progress yet and I doubt I will before next week.

Real life needs to settle down and stay in it’s lane. We’re painting here! Priorities…

Hope things calm down for you.

I should find the motivation to assemble one of the new Terminators, too. They look so cool in pictures, but I just can't seem to get into the right mood.

I'm making some progress on my plasma support unit for my Raven Guard. Hoping to finish them in the next few days so I can maybe make a start on an entry for the Centrepiece comp.

Lots of good work this month (as every month, really). Here is my progress so far:

I'm having a very dodgy month unfortunately - I've spent a lot of time sat in hospitals with my son, who's started having seizures.
So unfortunately I'm not getting much time to paint. I got a couple of hours in tonight, and will hopefully get a couple more evenings this week. I'm aiming to get all four Kroxigors painted; but it may have to just be two of them. I'll see how it goes.

Fingers crossed!

Tonight's progress:

Second this. Hope all goes well. Both I and one of my nephews had seizures as small children and grew out of them. Scary as heck for parents to deal with though. Fingers crossed things work out.

Krox are looking great!

Oh mate, that sucks. Been there and it's very stressful. Much love. Also, painting looks great, and any you can get it can be a great destresser.

Hang in there, Lovejoy. There are effective treatments out there now. My son started having tics, and then seizures, when he was in elementary school, but after starting on his meds, his symptoms haven't reappeared.

My entry is all finished and photographed!

Kaela Mensha Khaine:
Spoiler:

The lave-like glow took a long, long time to get it as good as it is. The NMM bronze works well enough IRL, but kind of breaks down in these large-size photos. The base was a bear-- I built it up with putty to give the peg in his foot something to grab onto. I then applied some cracking medium, planning to do a lava base. The medium didn't stick to the putty though, and curled up so much that it looked like eggshells. I ended up scraping most of it off. I'm quite proud of my green-and-red alien plant, though.

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Really sorry to hear that Lovejoy, hope everything works out okay. The Kroxigor look excellent, like the soft skin underneath the scales, nice contrasting colour.

@JoshinJapan - nice work finishing the base on your Avatar, the classic cactus is a great touch.

Thanks youwashock, Nevelon, inmygravenimage, JoshInJapan, Geifer, XvArcanevX, and Pariah Press - much appreciated!

And JoshInJapan, that Avatar looks fantastic - love the bronze!

I've made a (very small) amount of progress tonight... I did the back scales bluey-purple. They looked terrible, but I kept working at it, trying to get it to go right. It didn't, so I've made a last minute switch to red. Not sure about that yet... I'll see how I feel about it tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about that Lovejoy. I really hope the whole family is coping and that things can return to normal for you all very soon. I really like the red on that Krox. It looks quite natural and adds some interest to the colour pallet.

Vej- the deep red flames are looking great. Proper magic fire.

Lovejoy, here's hoping everything works out for your boy. Also, your Kroxsies are looking great with the red.

I have no idea if I'll have an entry this month.

Little dreadnought is finished, ultramarine style

I have been trying to find my green paints, but no luck yet, I must have put them in a separate box from the others (in the middle of moving)

If the unpainted dreadnought didn't have dark angels stuff glued all over it I would have painted it an other color

I'm going to have a look this morning again and if I can't find them, there's a shop in town sells some citadel paints I'll pop in there and see what they have, need to get cracking not much time left.

Hope your son feels better Lovejoy
