Normally I don’t like topics that are genre locked. “Can this be fantasy/modern/sci-fi?” Is a yardstick I apply to everything. Beep boop is a little hard to get into fantasy. We could widen it out in the description to silly little things making silly little noises, which could catch familers, animal companions, fey things. But that’s a bit pf a stretch.

That said, it seems to be getting traction, so I’ll put it in the poll. Which I’m going to try to get up after work today, so keep the ideas coming.

To be fair, golems and goblin/gnome steam robots are pretty established in many fantasy settings.

With Nevs permission I would like to adjust my entry to include a Deathwing Knight I fancy messing around with over the next few days. If I like how he turns out might submit him rather than the ghoul if that is ok?

Here’s my proof pic. I feel the ghoul is in a place that needs a lot of glazing so my plan is to maybe save him for when I have more time and try a weathered and battle worn stippling approach on the Deathwing character in time for closing…

You can change your entry at any point up until the last minute, as long as you started in the month. So that’s fine.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
I like the idea of a golem or other magically created construct as an analogous fantasy version of a robot.
Even though I'd most likely paint a straight-up robot if that theme wins.

Also, if I'm not mistaken,

Maybe extend it to other non-biological lifeforms - genies, elementals, not-undead spirits, living goo, etc.

OK, some topics to vote on for next month. Giving it 3 days, as it’s a bit early this month.

Footslogger matches my army theme better than any other comp theme ever, but somehow, I spent the first week of this month groping for inspiration.
Then I left town for a week. In the day that I had back at home, lightning struck and I assembled this guy.
Then I left town for another week. I finished up the greenstuffing (this is more of a conversion than a kitbash, since these two kits don't really bash) last night and primed him today. So I'm in but with precious little hobby time left in the month with which to paint him.
At least he's a real "foot"slogger (unlike you feetsloggers):

Making some progress, but hit a motivation wall.

Face is about 80% of the way there. Looks good enough on the table and any improvements from here on out will require serious time commitment.

B. A. is partly done, Hannibal and Murdock are barely more than base coated. I'm hoping taking some pictures motivates me a little.

And then there's the whole problem of bases . . .

@Gulgog TufToof: I feel the same way. I was looking forward to this one and thought it would be easy to get done, but life has been getting in the way too much.

I've finished priming my minis and put a wash on them so people can at least see what they look like. We'll see if I can manage to paint them the next few days.

So long as you’re adding more boyz to da Waaagh!, that’s what counts right? I’m looking forward to seeing those ladz painted.

@jazzyjeff, I can imagine with a subject like yours that you would want to do them justice and it would be challenging with a deadline. just keep telling yourself, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Lotsa fun stuff so far. The A-team is delightful, and TV accurate as well.

I've painted quite a few models this month (follow the link in my signature to see everything), and it's been tough to decide on my entry. In the end, it has to be Raging Annie, from Bad Squiddo miniatures.

Right I’m happy with this fella. Got a whole ton of Deathwing to tackle at some point in the future (after various other projects) so thought I would try out my general ideas on this guy; a ‘mini of the month’ from my local GW store not long ago.

Very happy with the result to be honest. It was primarily achieved with layering ultra thin paint with a stippling technique and I found the whole process super relaxing and easy to achieve. The weathering was done with sponge chipping and the odd hand painted scratch and from then on it was simply a case of painting in the details; which was by far the most time consuming part.

Here he is:

My French Solar Auxilia squad is ready I found a picture of the actual uniforms from that time with armour, and used it as a reference:

I plan to use these guys on diorama, so they have no bases at the moment. I present:

What did you add to the shield? It's hard to make out in this photo.

It'll be easier to see on the painted version. I'm just waiting on the clear coat to dry, then I can start photographing.

Sorry guys I've not been around much to comment on things, its been a busy few months.

I started this month by making and undercoating some Witch Hunters for this challenge as they always seem to be on foot but part way through the month I had a change of heart and quickly knocked out a few Bretonnia Peasant Bowmen after randomly watching the Kenneth Branagh Henry V Saint Crispin's Day speech, I thought they fitted the theme better (both them footslogging around after the nobility and also in an Agincourt type sense with some muddy battlefields firing volleys into the incoming men at arms) and I was interested in painting them on a long base.

and here they are, a happy few.

Finished my entry with time to spare for once. Here are the final photos of my Tomb King:

I used Army Painter Speedpaints for the vast majority of the model, and I kind of phoned it in on a lot of it. I was also having to work around a bad prime, as when I primed the model with Wraithbone spray it was too hot and humid outside and the model ended up a bit chalky. I feel like I managed to salvage it adequately, and it looks good from tabletop distance, so I guess I'm happy with it. Don't spray primer in high humidity, kids. Wait for cooler dryer weather if possible if spray priming.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Late entry for me (and yes I've got them further on than this but only during this month)

I'll see how many i can get done of these Heretic Troopers for Trench Crusade based on Wargames Atlantic French with mixed heads from the Germans and French. I was going for a faceless industrial vibe.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

A little close, but done, some Oathsworn Miniatures critters from Lovejoy's latest kickstarter:

Spoiler:

Didn't figure out what the little bit on the shield below the hourglass is, (maybe its holding strap?), and not painted up to Lovejoy's standards for here, but still fun to get back to the line all the same.
