New Warhammer Community Website!

Your Warhammer News, Improved

The Warhammer Community website has been updated to be easier to navigate, search, and read. It's the same news, reveals, updates, and your favourite articles, but a new experience.

The New Warhammer Community Website is Live!

First impression is that the new page looks very busy.

The search actually seems to work now instead of just giving 200 barely/not related articles.

Might be a little too restrictive even.

I think I'd take this over how it was before.

And now it's not working at all. Alright then.

Also a dark mode would be nice...

They've given WarCom the website equivalent of "the Landlord Special". Can we change it back please? I hate rolling taskbars on websites.

It adds functionality! Wowee!

The thing about 40k is that no one person can grasp the fullness of it.

Not a fan of that large navigation sticking around when you scroll down. I hate features like that.

I suppose if the search function is improved it's an overall win.

It’s alright.

Long as I can find my Necromondays, Heresy Thursdays and Rumour Engines, I’ll be sound as a pound.

"very busy" was my first thought too. It also feels more like its taken hints from busy news sites just without the ads for random things everywhere.

I'm less hostile with this than the updates to the webstore as typically the GW news is fairly fast flowing and easy to keep up with - and the new site does make more of a show of downloads and resources on it than the previous one.

Wasn’t a huge fan of the last one. Big flat page with no organization, hard to find anything that wasn’t new news.

This one looks like the pendulum swung to opposite way, with everything fragmented and subcategoried.

Typical GW.

We’ll see how it goes. Overall looks better for it’s needs at a glance.

Wow. So they can implement a save list of my favourite articles, but they can't (re-)create a 'wishlist' on the store.
:-(

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

Really boggles my mind with the amount of money GW has that they can't hire someone with a good sense of UI and website design to make it intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. Very busy to look at the website now, but if I remember correctly, GW has a history of bad websites mainly due to nepotism so it wouldn't surprise me if this was another similar case of hiring people who were referred by an exec.

There's an option to switch to the German version now, but it only has about one article/ week.

Other than that it looks okay, no biggie. Slight redesign if you ask me.

Guess it’s getting hammered with traffic, as it’s a bit on the wonk.

Gee Zuzz I thought my phone was broken. My eyes hurt. It's bouncing around all over the show faster than a hopper squig on crack!

Hmm besides the growing headache and realisation everything is organised into tiny little sections which may or may not work properly over the coming days... weeks... months...I guess I'll just have to get used to it. I might need a bigger screen. Oh well.

It's somehow very busy but also way too much white space.

That top bar needs to scroll away. I hate that.

Dark mode would be awesome because there's so much white.

I don't need all the product icons across the top but also have them in the drop menu.

The pop-out menus are way too massive as well. On PC they take up most of the screen.
Haven't tried on the phone yet. Not optimistic that it would be better there.

Bam, said the lady!

I see now on the site there's a flesh coloured smurf fondling a tape measure. If his name is James he looks very happy with himself. And with the tape measure.

Hoping the site settles down eventually. This will take some getting used to.

If the issue is when you first go there you do not see any articles, try clicking menu in the upper right and then All News and Features on the far left of the menu (or a more specific category) to view articles. I thought maybe it was messed up at first too until I tried clicking things to discover that.

Don't particularly like how it looks, seems very busy and like just a wall of articles with little thought to make it look nice. Reminds me of search engine / blog ad pages.

The categories for different games are good, at least. Search is an improvement, but it still doesn't feel entirely accurate. Searching for "Leagues of Votann" for example doesn't include the article from last month about the book they'll getting soon, even though "leagues of Votann" is even in the title of the article.

I like that updates docs appear at the top of the download page now. That's a great addition. Otherwise its.... similar?

WAIT I just realised the worst thing about this.

We got an entire James Workshop video without one mention of Codex Zoats! :(

The chears option is and the balk with the differt games are nice but its to bussy. I liked the old one because you could see the new articles on one page and it was not so bussy.

Main observations:

- Lots of clicking to get to what I want to see.

- Images load slowly.

- Can't click on images to resize them

- The notifications appear one over another, it's just a crowded mess and I can't read them.

- The saved content feature might be useful... maybe...

- The menu takes a full minute to read and I still don't know how to navigate to articles relevant to me.

- The downloads section might be useful... but it reminds me the rules of 40k are always changing.

- The warning about cleaning browser data is antiseptic.

- The icons for sorting things are placed awkwardly placed and appear on pages with no content.

- I almost completely missed the search feature. It's hiding to the left of the main brand image and overshadowed by the options to the right.

- This concept probably looked better on paper. Needs improvement.

What is the difference between the US English and UK English? Is it just going to be content that is specifically for the US vs for the UK? What if I want to see content for both?

Maybe you'll get Space Marine Armor instead of Armour. Who knows what with GW. I expect it will be just links to different stores.

its looks like a trashy clickbait news site, but all the intrusive ads are for GW product.

Could have been made with a square space template for how un-original it looks.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.
