How do!

So having bought some new toys, and with tomorrow off work? I’m going to do another single day hobby challenge, to build, paint and base a kit.

Last time I did a pair of Castellax, and that went well. This time? I’ve a choice of three. Castellax, Thallaxi, and a Thanatar.

I’ll make a start around 9-10am tomorrow, and go for as long as it takes me. Vote in the poll to decide which kit I’ll be tormenting myself with.

Well, looks like it’s the Thanatar.

Daunting, but doable I reckon. So now it’s shower, shave, cuppa and brekkers, ready to make a start around 9am.

Build stage should be done by 12pm I reckon, undercoat done by 2pm (allowing for drying and making sure no surface is missed). Maybe sooner, if I can find my turntable.

Rest of the painting is actually pretty quick, so maybe all done by 6pm?

So far, so good. Legs and main torso done. Next up the arms, plasma mortar and then final assembly.

14:36pm, first drybrush is down. Next up is the Gun Metal drybrush.

14:57pm, second drybrush is done. And now dog can see rabbit in terms of the detail, mentally planning the colour placement for the next stages.

Copper down, and not just on the areas to receive Ork Flesh Contrast.

This is the odd bit, as from here? I’m in uncharted territory in terms of spot colours and their positioning. I know which bits I want green, but when it comes to detailing the underlying metal? Gonna have to wing that.

Old standard of brightening up the manipulators is a given. But not sure what I want to do on the ranged weapons.

Looks like a big old boy. I love the design but don't plan to do a Mech army, can it pass as a Marine Dread?

It’s about 50% as big as a Dreadnought. I’ll get a direct comparison pic in a bit.

But for now?

18:22. After a run to the shops and a friend over for a cuppa? Copper and Green done.

Green will need a touch up, but I’m happy with the placement.

From here, it’s just adding some brighter metallics, glow effect on the Plasma, and I’ll call it done. Oh and basing of course.

it’s not vintage vintage, but the same mould reissue.

Also the proper scaled X-Wing and an A-Wing.

E-Wing on order, and a Y-Wing to be procured at some future point.
