I was finally feeling good enough to paint a miniature from start to finish, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's my entry for this month's painting contest, and it's an old school plague Marine. I managed to work through the shakes in my hands, and I'm very happy with how he turned out. It's nothing golden demon worthy, but I am proud nonetheless. It's probably my best work so far.

I feel "Okay" about what I just did.

My son has been feeling a bit "internet isolated" since school let out. During the schoolyear they issue the students Chromebooks, but since it's summer he's had to rely on his phone, which has limited some of his desired activities.

He wanted his own laptop or computer tower. Well.... those are a bit expensive at the moment. I could get one, but I thought of something else.

I found my ex-wife's old laptop. I don't know why I kept it, as she accidentally ripped the screen part off the keyboard part years ago and the screen hasn't worked since.

Well, HDMI cord to the 70-inch TV I have in the kids' rec room, cordless mouse and keyboard, and I have a ghetto computer tower. Yeah, it's a bit dated and slow, but free and will get him by for now. I really wasn't looking forward to having to time-share my PC.

Nice We gave an old laptop to our son recently who refurbished it as a Linux project.

I had such a Frankenstein PC once! School I worked in was a Technology College, so heavy focus on IT.

One bright idea was to buy laptops for certain rooms. Anchored down like, but space saving compared to tower and CRT. Somewhat cooler to run too.

Of course, kids are utter horrors and once in a while a screen would get trashed, or the base unit broken. We’d of course make do and mend. Put an intact screen on an intact base, and now you have but one broken laptop.

We ended up with a “spare” base unit. Which I took home and hooked up to a monitor. Bingo, Frankenstein Computer. Wasn’t pretty, but it worked, and in a way that would have lasted in the school.

Me not have computer as child. Me have bailing wire and two by fours.

Me raised by Kiwis (not the New Zealanders, nor the birds, just the fruit)... they not teach me much.

I need no machines to teach me life lessons. I learn when I was in 30s the most important things, like "Fire taste bad," and "Women always right, even if reality says different."

Me wonder why I am single.

Done so much, I’ve had to buy a second notebook. Also got those little sticky tab things, so I can part out the first book by which words and phrases are where.
