Nice looking minis.
Though I'm still thinking that using 1:144 models opens up poses and selection significantly, even if it takes up a bit more space.

Same, especially as they haven't announced their 'evergreen' (that always appears in Super Robot Wars) Char's Counterattack MS.
I'll likely try to pick up original series stuff, but I'm secretly hoping for Reconguista in G and even non Gundam IPs they have.

We finally have news on this after the game was demoed at Bandai Fest Las Vegas over the weekend. Much to my surprise the actual game is.... a reskin of the World of Warcraft Collectible Miniature Game from 2008?!
Never would have guessed, but rather excited about it. WoW minis had some really unique ideas that just never got time to fully develop. I've been kind of shocked no one has attempted to implement some of its mechanics, let alone under a completely different major IP.
Saw some smart fixes in the rules and curious to see how they play out. It's probably a LITTLE simple overall, but definite changed this from something I was cautious of to a game I'm genuinely excited for.

Absolutely. Quick overview for people who never played the short lived game its based on:
The core mechanic is a timeline that determines character activations. Each MS has a token on the timeline and activates when they are the last token on the line. You pay for actions with time. A quick attack or run will bump you up a couple spaces where a big attack will stop that model from activating again for 4 or more spaces on the bar. Models are never destroyed. Rather removing their health pushes them back their activation on the timeline for repairs.
It's mostly a move and attack system with objectives to destroy or capture for VPs. This wasn't entirely clear, but also like WoW Minis it looks like army building is just a matter of taking 3 mobile suits of your choice. Each suit is pointed by the amount of VP given when defeated. The player with the most VP after the timeline completes twice wins.
In terms of clever changes, I think the big one is that each suit has a starting place on the timeline. WoW had a bit of a problem where you could take a party of long range mages with expensive nukes that could do enough alpha strike damage that the opponent couldn't recover by the time their cooldowns recovered. The initial delay is a cool solution that theoretically also means flashy heroes show up to the battle to save the day after the grunts start the engagement. There's also an action to charge up an energy resource that is likely to be required for certain big attacks that should also help with this.
A LOT rides on the model rules themselves at this point, though I'm kind of curious if playing for the most points at the end of the timer will feel a little anticlimatic. In WoW you plays to a VP threshhold for victory that I tend to prefer. It'll likely depend on the objective game and how much can be eked out of those final few activations before time expires. In any case, excited to see how it turns out.

Much appreciate the update and rules breakdown, LunarSol. Some of my favorite boardgames have this timeline mechanic (e.g. FFG's Horus Heresy, Thebes, Patchwork, Glen More, Auztralia). I am looking forward to this.
Any word on tentative release quarter?

Sounds like it'll be easy on the wallet too... even though I am a little disappointed I won't be able to field a sea of GMs.

Firestorm still have to get product photos in place.
That said I'm 100% going to call it that naming this a card-game is going to baffle and confuse people and might hinder its marketing somewhat.

Those might be the literal card game ones rather than the miniatures game. They had some released that included miniatures to use as fancy tokens. The confusion might be naming the two games the same thing, or using the name of one on the promo boxes of the other (?), and I'm confused already.

The 5v5 are from the same setting and timeframe, so a reasonable representation of what you could have in one of the shows. The 3v3 has them all from disparate shows of various timeframes and universes.

The deluxe starter is the final battle of the original series. Probably going to need to pick up both as it looks like different mat sizes depending on the number of suits you take.

Prices aren't bad. I might get the Last Shooting starter, Gouf/Magellan Attack and Witch From Mercury packs first.
On another note, I wonder if the models might have cards for other pilots or builders, considering certain suits have changed hands?

I want to point out that - as you imply - this bit of news is perhaps more significant than anything specific about the game. It would be like Disney/LFL/Marvel "just deciding" to make a game company - if Disney was also one of the world's top manufacturers of plastic models.
If I were GW, I would be having a serious strategic planning meeting right now.
