Pretty straightforward. I'm making a memorial for units that got "left behind" in previous editions. Legends and Index units don't count. Units that were 100% superseded also don't count. I'm also only looking at standard 40k editions, so units that only appeared in say Epic or Horus Heresy don't count.

Off of the top of my head:

  • Lord Macharius

  • Asdrubael Vect

  • An Ork that turned models into sheep.

  • I lost the link, but there was a Twitter account that posted datasheet scans from 1st,2nd, and 3rd edition 40k.

Do you want units that didn’t have models? Or if there were rules is that enough.

What about wargear? Like full sniper scout squads or las/plas razorbacks?

Same here, and doing a "Pariah" Nexus campaign (with a Necrons focus even) without bringing that unit back really just seemed like a massive tease by GW.

These were my thoughts as well. They were such a cool unit, they just didn't really jive with the new take on the Necron lore that came out later. I just wish they'd thought of a way to make them fit rather than just discarding them. Maybe some kind of advanced flayer virus where they were trying to hybridize into organic rather than just wear them?

. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

I don't think they need any adjustment with Newcron lore, honestly. If anything, them being the result of a pet project of some high level Necron personality makes even more sense to me then something that would be developed by the killing machines all united in the pursuit of wiping out all life that was the old lore.

I'm mainly referring to units that were playable in previous editions, but not playable in 10th Edition. Or models that were playable and usable many years ago, but are no longer playable and probably aren't even produced anymore.

    Wargear doesn't count.

    For Chaos,

Not including models that were placed into legends (i.e. mutilators, cultists with ranged weapons, brass scorpion etc.) as in my opinion Legends is still part of the game.

    Doom Rider

Greater Possessed (probably one of the shortest lived models ever)

Brass Cannon and Culdren of Blood (armor cast 2nd edition which would make great WE models)

There was a cultist cavalry unit in 2nd in the back of the book, plus a daemon prince that was the "first" before Bel'kor and it hinted that the DP was either Gangas Khan or Hitler. These did not have models, but you could use Chaos Warrior marauders on horse to represent cavalry which I did, and convert your own DP, which I did.

In 2nd, maybe rouge trader there were mutated CSM marines, kind of like possessed but they had more normal equipment.

Build your own LR variant with reaper cannons from like 4th or 5th chapter approved rules.

I think there were some more but don't remember, as I actually owned used all of the above, except doom rider as I never got my hands on him.

Some of you need to remember that Legends exist in 10e.
And that tourney play where Legends are not allowed is NOT the only way to play 10e.

For ex; I assure you that the Griffon Mortar carrier is still a usable unit.

The one that annoys me most by its absence is the stats for the Las/Plas turret from my original Razorbacks. Last seen in the 8e Index/Compendium/whatever-it-was-called book prior to the Codexs rolling out. :(

Are Inquusitorial Stormtroopers stilll a thing?

    Adeptus Arbites?

They probably don't count, but lots of options from previous codexes. IG doctrine troops would be an example, like Guarfsmen with carapace armor, chem inhalers and CC weapons.

Pariahs was my first thought, like posters above.

There's an awful lot of lost units if you look at Chapter Approves and Forge World lists like Kroot Mercenaries, Feral Orks, Lost & The Damned, Renegades & Heretics, or Eldar Corsairs.

    Ahh, cool.

If they're in 40k then that settles that.

And arguably contradicted by the first sentence. "Units that were 'left behind'" is pretty much the definition of Legends. This is a list of units that are likely to never get another rules release.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.
