So the repackaging of the 2010 Leman Russ (adding all the turret weapons) gives you an extra half a Leman. Turret, hull, sponsons, but no bottom or tracks.

(also the kit has no pintle heavy stubber, no dozer blade and no HK missile, not that I am bitter )

Anyone found a good use for these bits?

A static turret might work, or a wreck. Building a wheeled tank might also be possible but anyone seen a good conversion?

first thing that come to my mind would be resin parts for wheeled conversions, as some shops selling them to replace the tracks with wheels and in this case replace the missing parts

another one would be to use historical models as base for a conversion

you can always turn it into terrain for wrecks

I think Models and Minis used to sell a wheeled conversion for Lemans but I also think they're out of business.

I guess this thread also applies to what to do with half a baneblade since they also come with 2 hulls and turrets.

Blood and Skulls Industries also sells a wheeled and an alternative tracked conversion kit.

Also if you are not opposed to 3D printing I would be surprised if there wasn't a file for the tracks/hull flying around somewhere.

I have one spare turret too and considered using it to build some kind of river patrol boat

After you build what you want, stash the extra sprue away until you can buy a junk russ hull for cheap, and then rehab with new sponsons and turret.

Also, IMO having two turret options is nice to help future proof your collection. It's easier to build some of the weaker turret options if you build the other turret with a top choice. So exterminator/punisher,.
You can be a coward and build for current top choices like Vanquisher/executioner. Or be a chad and build the kit with triple heavy flamer, Eradicator/executioner.

If you use track guards you could theoretically almost get away with no treads.
Guard the top, mud the bottom.

It almost would have made sense for them to just add in one more tracks/bottom sprue and sell it as a two pack. For three times the price, of course!

Y'know... making tracks out of plastic card (and not looking like excrement) would be a neat challenge...

Blood and Skulls Extra tank armor kit also covers so much of the sides, that an aspiring modeller doesn't have to replace that much to finish it off:

Keep it in the fridge until you make another recipe that calls for half a Leman.

How much of the Hull is included? Could you just add tracks and plasticard for the bottom? I'd be interested in seeing a picture.

Really though, if I had those parts, I'd just print up (or find someone to print up for me) this hull without the sponsons:

I think the main problem are the side-walls that are missing, not the track links themselves.
On that note: if one has the side walls and doesn't specifically care for track guards, 1/35 Panzer VI Tiger tracks also look pretty cool on Imperial Guard vehicles.

That makes sense. In that case I'd definitely just print more hulls to slap the turrets and sponsons on.

Nah, I suspect people prefer a kit that provides them with one complete vehicle with no missing elements, and even provides a start on a second one.

I didn't know this and now I want to buy a Leman Russ and make two by using plasticard and card for the missing parts of the second one. Makes the kit a lot more attractive to me actually!

Yeah, The number of russes I've already got and the current MSRP (really, $60?) makes me unlikely to purchase a new one, but I'm a sucker for extra parts and it is tempting....

Some of those "hull leftovers" sprues wound up in my FLGS bits box a couple years ago. Bought them up for $5 each. Turning one into a Destroyer Tank Hunter (using Baneblade cannon), one into a Thunderer (using spare Baneblade Demolisher Cannon, and one into another LR variant of undetermined type. I already had a couple spare sets of tracks from using Blood and Skulls sides for a command tank and an Ork looted vehicle, so I'm pretty well good to go.

This is the way.

Honestly, I'm surprised some 3d file designer hasn't already designed a hull sides-tracks-and-bottom, ready to drop under the leftover hull. Seems like such an obvious win.

Or maybe they have, what do I know?

So I found some left over Taurox tracks from when I gave them wheels, this weekend I can see about mating 4 tracks, a hull and some sponsons to make a second Leman.
