Votann are all genetically engineered. Would they ever create a breed that was basically their version of an Ogryn? You know, a sqat that is a massive 7 feet tall?
Just wondering, as I really don't like the look of Thunderkyn, and I'm brainstorming alternatives.

It's 40k so yes.
The Votann create an entire ecosystem of unique kin skeins for specific roles, so ratling and ogryn equivalents should be a given.
Arguably they could also create standard human template kin as well, for whatever purpose they want.
They're actually uniquely positioned to create pretty much any shape they want - eldar/tau/human/ork shaped for specific purposes.
Plenty of conversions avaialble.

Yeah. So far as we know, the Votann’s Genebanks, from which Kin are “assembled”, don’t just have Stunty Genes.
However, as being short is a commonality, it’s clearly of advantage in the Galactic Core.
Outside of it, I don’t see why Ogryn sized wouldn’t be of sufficient advantage to be selected. But, it would need to prove advantage over the standard size when allowing for technological assistance.
And that in itself must surely be part of the rationale of the Votann. A couple of generations of Ogryn sized Kin may well sound like a combat advantage. But in terms of overall resources? You got to armour them, arm them, provide vehicular support etc.
If the answer is Embiggening existing equipment? Surely it’s an easier to Embiggening the kit, but making a suit of armour into something piloted, negating the need for the pilot to be physically larger?

It's been a couple weeks, and I'm surprised I didn't think of this before. What about larger Ironkin/ Cogs? Basically a Votann version of the Kataphron robots? The Cogs aren't totally sentient like a full-on Ironkin, and veiwed more as a tool. A robot like that wouldn't take up any more room for transport than a Thunerkyn suit.

My take on Ironkin is “we don’t ask them to do anything we wouldn’t”.
Otherwise sure, I guess they could make large robot lads.

There is a distinction between the fully sentient Ironkin, and the non sentient Cog units.

Well now. Dakka Done It Again!
Because there are indeed now “oversized” Ironkin in the form of Steeljacks.
