Speaker brackets may be the preferred solution. They’re properly chunky beast. Suspending them from the ceiling would mean only seeing the underside.

If you want to suspend something from the ceiling and have it be below eye level nobody will stop you. You just need longer string/line/cable/chains. And to acknowledge the fact you are going to bump into it all the time, and the resident floofs might treat it like a piñata.

I’d be more willing to have the smaller ships suspended.

Though for the massive ships? The ceiling above the stairs might suit.

Spoiled my solution in case it helps. I printed a support thing, but I was happy just to screw the things together permanently.

That does look cool. But the ones I’ve got are ridiculously heavy.

Some kind of bracket mounted to the wall, say holding them on their side would probably work.
