on the forum. Obviously

After listening to player feedback, GW will introduce alternate activation.
As a new twist though, you and your opponent will activate units at random with a patented random draw mechanic.

As part of the balance changes, most armies have been simplified to be marine equivalents.

To speed up gameplay, instead of rolling to hit, wound and save you just roll to hit and for damage. This is where everything being made into a MEC equivalent comes in handy, as they have the same required damage roll.

To herald these departures from the Warhammer 40k formula, the game will be rebranded as Bolter-action.

I was reading all about Ahriman in a Blood Ravens novel by the master lexmechanicae C.S. Goto, and I'm pretty sure your website link has a couple... misrepresentations.

Every army will consist of one special character.

The rest of your army is predetermined based on which special character you chose.

438-By integrating AI into digital sculpting GW can make larger models than ever before, beginning with the plastic 28mm Warhound.
439-Due to the use of AI digital sculpting, the plastic Warhound unfortunately has 3 legs.
440-Since the plastic Warhound as 50% more legs than the resin one it will cost 50% more than the resin one.
441-The plastic Warhound will sell out in the first 3 minutes.

This is, by far, the thing in this thread most likely to actually happen.

You think it would take that long?

I doubt you'd even be able to make it to the checkout page before its gone.

442 - To mitigate the problem of selling out so quickly, GW will move to a service payment model. No-one will own any of the models they lease, and therefore they only need to make one 3 legged titan, and can put their research and development budget toward the much better model of hiring a logistics wing whose role is to travel the world picking up models that are reaching the end of their lease period, and deliver it to the next user.

443 - The marketing department will not get the memo, and will name this new wing MINIature MIgration SERvice for You.

Well we know that won't be true. Somebody'll pirate it by the end of day 1. Day 2 at the latest.

In order to combat Piracy of 11th Edition GW will enact several new policies

1) Daily stat updates. Only on the secure Warhammer+ site can you get the daily update to your army stats! Copies and other sites will always lag behind!

2) GW store manages will require you to "Scan to Play" in store and at GW sponsored events. If you don't have a phone with the legal app installed you won't be allowed to play.

I can see this future.

I was watching some guys play some wargame the other Saturday and I asked why they kept looking at their phones so much...

They said you can't play without the app...

At that point I wandered off.

In fairness with all the updates its often easier to use the GW app as well for quick stat checking

GW also helps encourage this by having really odd ways of laying out information in their books or requiring you to cross reference several at once

Yeah, the app is already pretty much required. I saw a guy playing AdMech the other day using a codex with all the updates written in; it was really tough to read.

Apparently there was stuff happening in their app that was directly influencing the game they were playing.

Ahem...

If I wanted to stare at a screen, I would go play Boltgun. I come to shops to get away from that stuff.

That's why a big fear for me, is the always online aspect of an integrated tabletop game and electronic device.

The last RPG I played with other people had our GM so overloaded with electronics (laptops, speakers, etc.) I thought he was setting up for a Daft Punk concert.

The super rare gold edition is the only one that includes stratagems.

Sadly, the Chaos Space Marine edition will be replaced with the Pyrite Edition halfway through the year.

It costs the same, but half the units have been removed.

Dark Eldar also get a Pyrite Edition, in which the remaining half of their units are removed.

To be fair, his rules were not bad. It was the over the top fluff that got him most of the hate.

(Not saying the rules were perfect or anything, but if you want to dredge up hate that’s like 5 editions old, get the right stuff)

Taking inspiration from that one slop game tabletop shop sim, all minis now come in random loot boxes, with random sprues containing a single bit of a mini. Maybe you’ll get a space marine head, maybe you’ll get a grot arm, who knows? Each box contains 9 common parts and 1 guaranteed uncommon or better bit, such as a torso, or maybe even a beakie helmet with a 0.01% chance! Also, kitbashing is illegal and you must assemble all minis with accurate bits.

No, his rules were also trash if you look at a trend of when power spikes happened in game editions. His books were often major contributers to the arms races between books or flat out broke the edition. Chaos Daemons in Warhammer Fantasy 7th edition, for example.

I suspect that the game Boltgun is simply the ultimate expression of a Mat Ward Ultramarines codex.

I recall the 5th SM codex being solidly mid teir, which was my army at the time, so I may be biased.
