From the Hollywood Reporter

Cowabaunga, dudes, it looks like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a brand-new sensei.

Neal H. Moritz, the veteran producer behind The Fast and the Furious franchise, is in negotiations to take on the job of re-starting TMNT as a live-action film franchise for Paramount Pictures. Toby Ascher, who works with Moritz at their Original Films banner, will also act as a producer.

The move occurs as the Skydance-owned studio is taking a magnifying glass to its slate and existing IP. As opposed to some other titles, namely Transformers or G.I. Joe, Paramount fully owns the TMNT brand, having picked it up from co-creator Peter Laird in 2009, and it is seeking to fully unlock its potential.

'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents
cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable
defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

As a big fan of the og TNMT (yes, those comics where everyone still wore a red bandana), I always felt like the nickleodeon movies had the right atmosphere. I hope they will retain that vibe going forward..

Every new set of teens needs turtles that reflect them. I used to care more, but honestly I think the core turtle mythos is more fun to see retold than to see it carried on forever as the Middle Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles.

That’s a genuinely good point I hadn’t thought of before.
