The problem with Nurgle fiction is that it tends to be boring and repetitive.

Some 40k Factions are as dull as a doorstop.

Khorne berserkers make for a cool tabletop, but I couldn't fathom an entire story of Blood raging nutballs screaming incoherently at each other for an entire novel.

Same with ultra-powered groups like the Grey Knights.

No one knows they exist, so they can't really interact with anyone, they can't be corrupted, so that angle of potential conflict is tossed out the window... and they fight daemons who, much like Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget, swear revenge after being defeated... again.

That's not true at all. They can interact with any # of other characters throughout the story. After they've handled whatever daemonic problem was important enough to attract their attention though? Then they purge all the witnesses...

They didn't purge anyone at the end of Wrath of Magnus, even after being led through the Fallen prison.

This is the standalone SMII co-op game that was published in WD. Honestly, putting the core rules out for free digitally is a great move because the game is a lot of fun. They've been adding units and missions in further WD issues, but the core game gives you plenty to start with.

Another story today. What's worse is that it's making Yriel, one of the holders of the 5 croneswords that supposedly are needed to defeat Slaanesh and fully awaken Ynnead, is now basically anti-Ynnead like pretty much all the main named Eldar characters. Really shows how they've given up Ynnead as a faction for Eldar and how they've written themselves into a corner.

I think it was a cool idea of "how do we combine all the Aeldari factions into one army," but it was poorly executed.

I really wish they had done more with it.

This is such a waste. All these stories with nothing that is directly tied in with them. Story with Yriel.....he still has no model on sale. Would it have killed them to give us a look at the new model we pretty much all know is coming now? I had stopped looking at grotmas, and only looked today because Valrak surmised that anything that had to do with Yriel would include a model revel. So much for that. Wake me on Christmas when hopefully we will get something actually worth looking at..........

A cities of sigmar story today. At least with some stories you can suspect it have some teaser for a greater narrative, but this is just nothing.

4 more days... what are the odds that we see something worthwhile?

The teaser for tomorrow sounds promising, but I think we may have to wait until Thursday for anything truly worthwhile.

WD... Again....
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/423j3ocm/grotmas-calendar-day-21-take-to-the-battlefield-with-four-warhammer-40000-missions/

Both Da Red Gobbo and Birthday Gombrindal had some cool rules and missions when the minis were released, and I actually wanted to try the Squig race. I'll be honest: would it have killed everyone at GW if someone posted Killteam and Necro Ash Waste rules for the tinbot model as part of Grotmas(I would even settle for a scenario).?

New story today talks about Yarrick. Not sure if this is a teaser of him getting a plastic model and that his death has been "greatly exaggerated" but it would be interesting to see how they finagle their way in saying how Yarrick is still around and kicking and if he's still hunting Ghazzy or not, now that Helbrecht has been scolded by Guilliman to basically let that crusade go.

Reading the comments here, I suddenly have a feeling that the stories are hinting at new minis, and it may be all we'll know until later next year.

I also have a feeling they could be screwing with us....

That Yarrick story hit me right in the feels for some reason and reminded me of when I got the original model during 2E. I need to repaint that old classic model.

I like to be an optimist, but I'm also not holding my breath...the new edition is around the corner after the 500 worlds campaign, it's probably going to be saved way later for when we're in 11th ed for 40k.

Can't speak to the 40K stories as I haven't touched them, but I'm not seeing anything in the AoS stories that hints at new mini's. I feel all of the AoS stories were meant for Halloween season and someone forgot to post them.

In the case of Yarrick, it might be GW realizing it was a mistake to kill him off-screen and they're teasing a "maybe he's not dead" for some goodwill amongst older players. But it would nice if he came back.

EDIT: Punctuation is your friend.

As I said at the time, I think bringing him back was always the plan. GW just knew it wouldn't happen for a while and wrote that "Imperial bureaucracy has reported him dead" bit to explain his absence as they scrapped the remaining finecast models.

Nah, Cawl has figured out how to reanimate their dead heroes without stuffing them in a dreadnought.

Or just leave the story open-ended and make the rules historical like Solar Macharius used to be?
Ya know, like when 40K used to be a setting where you forged your own narrative
