Although we must sadly close our Reaper 2025 thread...

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/815584.page

We can now open our Reaper 2026 thread with something we have all been eagerly awaiting.

Hot. Dwarf. Bondage.

Yours with a $40 purchase.

AND that's not all! For $60 you get some co-ed equal opportunity bondage!

Another neat release is 3 takes on Col Aratath? Kol Arth? No... Cal Arath available at 3 stages in his life from a mere wet-behind-the-ears Barbarian Prince, to a ruthless Barbarian Conqueror, to a Barbarian King working hard on tax reform and signing a trade agreement with the Savage Sultan and the Uncivilized Emir.

And finally we have an "Oxidation Beast" also known as a "Rust Louse" a "Corrosion Bug", a "Decay Dung Beetle", and an "Entropy Chinasaur". Just the thing to give Sir Forscale a rough day.

So it looks like we are off to a good start for 2026 and Reaper's proud tradition of WTFedness.

Agreed. It is good that we've equal opportunity sacrifices as opposed to the typical female eye candy sacrifice (often topless or fully nude).

That kind of kink you need to plan ahead so you can ease into it.

The inspiration for said beast was from a pack of plastic child's toys. Yes, even BITD, toys were used for gaming purposes. Says something about us all , maybe?

Not really a fan of the whole sacrifice thing. But then I never did like minis that were supposed to be casualties/corpses either. They seem more useful for dioramas than for gaming. Also, Dwarves are worthless for sacrificial purposes. No evil entity actually wants them. Offering up a dwarf is actually insulting.

Oh yeah. We should have a sacrificial elf instead. Everyone knows elves deserve a good stabbing.

That would be cool Easter Egg if it was the inspiration and I hope it is! Nice catch.

Honestly, given that we're talking about Reaper, I think the Gnome thief you beat up would probably be more likely and appropriate.

Regarding sacrifices and casualties. I understand where you are coming from on that and usually agree. However, owing to at least one age of imperialism minis ruleset (Soldier's Companion) and when I still played RPGs, I occasionally needed them. The RPG situation is obvious, but at least in Soldier's Companion colonial forces needed to recover their wounded or the natives would "come with knives and cut up what remains", thus that unit would take a morale penalty if they left their wounded behind. As this was 1 mini = 1 man, having to carry your wounded did hamper your unit's effectiveness. 5 wounded to carry reduces a 20 man platoon to 50% effectiveness as five healthy soldiers must carry the wounded, thus not fighting.

Search Amazon.
They've been in production since the late 60s/early 70s.
And yes, they ARE the original inspirations for the Landshark, Owlbear, & Rust Monster.

Not just inspiration, but actually used on the table during games by Gygax et al. The land shark is also a SNL reference, FYI, and I think it was inspired by the Jaws movie. They are the cheap plastic bag of toys that one could find in a drug store or grocery store BITD. Originally made in Hong Kong or Taiwan, IIRC. I think they were supposed to be Kaiju. Godzilla was a trendy thing at that time.

Hard to believe it but we are half way through January in the distant future year of 2026 - the year of Ray Bradbury's "There will come soft rains" and the classic silent film Metropolis.

So let's see what our miraculous far future technology has wrought! Besides a world wide computer network suitable for discussing toy soldiers that is...

Reaper's early line of angels is one of the things that attracted me to the company, it was a sign they were doing something (slightly) out of the box for miniatures. The problem for metal angels of course was always the weight of the wings, so it's nice to see them popping up in plastic.

Thankfully, members of this race of subterranean heat-loving amphibians are rarely encountered on the surface world; such meetings always end in bloodshed. Fire newts thrive in inhospitable caverns with unbreathable sulfurous, ash-filled air, lava flows, and boiling pools of mud. Their society is militaristic, focused on conquering territory. They create little, save for weapons and armor, and are skilled smiths. They are sadistic and keep slaves for short periods before ritually roasting them alive and devouring them.

A few months back, a tremor opened an undiscovered passage in the Caverns of Doom, linking a series of steamy, muddy grottos to fire newt territory. The fire newts ran afoul of the many mudmen dwelling within the muck and have been at war ever since. A band of adventurers stumbled into the midst of the war and were forced to retreat. They returned to Barrowgate, muddy and bloody, but with tales of a vast, unclaimed fortune of uncut gemstones embedded in the cavern walls.

What can I possibly add?

And finally a pair of dancing fiends! The wizard can also double as someone doing semaphore.

So a nice start to 2026.

These were very common toys in drugstores in the 80’s. I think they were originally based on monsters from Japanese TV shows. Their ubiquitous and affordable nature is why early DnD based so many monsters on them.

Metropolis is a great movie. And it's in the public domain, and the book it is based on Now if you wanted a mini of the Robot, well Reaper has you covered It's the one on the left.

Must include a parody of ABBA's Dancing Queen.

"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see.
One chants out between two worlds: Fire, walk with me."
- Twin Peaks
"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

Alas January is coming to an end, farewell MLK day decorations and Indian Republic Day parades, but we can look forward to Valentines Day and the Superb Owl so there's that.

And more Reaper minis!

You might not think that Arilyn Water Sorceress is all that, I mean what's she gonna do "I cast Water Ball" isn't nearly as intimidating as what Farilyn Fire Sorceress can do. But then you remember that the human body is like 98% water and... yeah. Some fun to be had there.

Vampire Count Van Storm raises an interesting question. Why is he (??) $10 while Arilyn is just $5 and the difference seems to be between printed models and plastic Bones. Mass production is still much cheaper than bespoke printing jobs. Chose your casting medium carefully my friends.

But then this Vampiric Servant is $10 and plastic, so... I dunno?

Speaking of which, the Fairy Dragon takes advantage of plastic's flexibility by having transparent wings. You can always paint them solid but it offers some cool options.

Like most gamers I associate beastmen with the calm serenity of a goat chewing his cud in a field. So imagine the shock your players will feel when suddenly faced with a beastman bezerker!

And his girlfriend (maybe?) Vorda the Fury!

OMG, yes, I need these!

Last but not least we have 75mm Voodoo Queen who can test your skills on a larger subject. Or serve as a Voodoo Queen Giant for that Against the Giants-New Orleans Edition game you've always meant to run.

So another good month of randomness. My only complaint is there should be a sprue of arms and legs we can stick to those chalky heart candies and make our own monsters.

Maybe the bitz box?

Hmm...

I think the Freebooter's Fate models (the vampire, the servant, etc) are priced higher because Reaper had to buy them rather than sculpt them in-house like the Water Bender.

February is the month of love, and digging out your car, and Reaper is there for you.

This month's freeby is an elf thief with a cloak and pointy ears and everything! Though why she only steals elves is a mystery to me.

Then we have a team of adventures who go by the collective name of the Dawnseekers!

I heard they briefly succeeded in their quest around 6am this morning but then lost it. They'll try again tomorrow.

Not a bad party but 2 wizards and 2 fighters (plus a cleric) seems unbalanced, and I don't see any ranged weapons among them. I guess it comes back to what level the 2 wizards are. They're also lacking a thief, which could be useful if they need to steal any elves.

And finally a wolf pack, just the thing to intercept allied shipping the north Atlantic and starve out the British.

Alas the end of Feburary is nigh, three days earlier than it seems it should be. Curse you Augustus Caeser for stealing two days to pad out July and August!

But at least Reaper is here to offer us some comfort.

The Wolf Pack (q.v.) is now joined by...

A Dire Wolf who is like a wolf but more dire.

We get a bunch of Dwarves including a king, a bodyguard, a priest and a bezerker and the nice thing is you can swap them around because honestly once you have a short dude with a beard will anyone really care?

A very nice Two-Headed Troll who can be easily converted into a One-Headed Troll with the swipe of a hobby knife. You can even magnatize it so it can do double duty. Who else is going to give you an offer like that?

A dragon rider! No! Wait! A HALFLING dragon rider! For all those people out there who play Halflings and also have a pet dragon! A Copper Dragon if I remember my Monster Manual correctly. Another combination covered!

Town Guard. They guard. They live in a town. Not much to add. I like them.

An Elven Cat, because Elves are too special to have mundane cats, they need their own special cats who can purr in Hobgoblin and are 90% resistant to sleep/hold/charm spells. Have I mentioned I don't like Elves?

Al Miraj (q.v.) a foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent with nasty, big, pointy teeth.
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/736093.page

No doubt many of you remember Reaper's various fungus men, but no doubt you've wondered when Reaper will FINALLY get around to releasing a leader! Well wonder no longer.

Standing over 3" tall we have Voblosnood the Fungal King! A Myconid Giant!
But that just raises another question, does Voblosnood have a wife, and is she disturbingly hot?

Happy to report the answer to both questions is yes.
And you just know someone, somewhere, is saying "Roll for seduction"

Has this ever happened to you? The adventurers arrive in town at the station and now they need someone to unload their trunks and take them to the cab but you don't have the right models you have to break for the night? Well have I got good news for you, the Red Caps are here.

I have never used Will'o'whisps in a game but here are some if you want to. Molded from clear plastic.

A dwarf brewer! At last something useful for the Dwarves.

When your name is Adrasteia Winterthorn you really don't have many other career options than vampire.

A "Greater Barghest" which implies Reaper will be making a Lesser Barghest and a Greatest Barghest before too long.

And finally our first sci-fi model in a long time - Chit Jubal, Arkos Chopper. I dunno who Arhos is, or what he did, but based on this guy's looks I'm thinking Arkos is gonna get chopped.

So there we go. The two headed troll is, for me, the definite winner here, but the Fungus Queen is also strangely alluring.

Happy shopping everyone!
