Plastic Thunderhawk, this is the year (i've said that every year for two decades)

Bikes and Landspeeders seem like an obvious choice, attack bikes as well please!

Plastic MKV seem overdue, but I'm not sure how well yet more tactical marines would sell.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I would add Mk V to my own wish list for Heresy. I think this mark of armour would sell well.

I think Mk5 would be even more disappointing than the rest in the usual 5 same monopose bodies design tho.

The uniform body poses don't bother me, and I think most Heresy players are used to them by now. I think the important thing with Mk V would be to get the bonding studs right. That, plus the helmet, would sell them.

If you're gonna do it, releasing it close to the Red Corsairs seems wise.

The bonding studs are the issue. The new MKV design in itself as fine, as can be seen on one of the new resin Apothecaries for example.

Spoiler:

The real issue is doing it in plastic. It'd have to be split up everywhere to still let the mould halves separate. It'd be the new MKVI pauldrons except all over the model. It'd take tons of sprue space and would create seams everywhere.

It certainly can't be done in the same sprue space as the previous marks.

GW should bite their lip and go slide mold on a MKV sprue. This should solve the bonding stud undercut issues, no?

Anyways, for me the wishlist is pretty modest. Most of all, I await the MKIV resculpted tac kit, rumoured to be out this year. Also would love to see MKIV Assault squad, as well as MKIV Recon (although I'd wager we will see recons come as an upgrade sprue most likely). Land Speeder Proteus would be the icing on the cake, and while I suspect it will eventually release with MKIV crew (?), it shouldn't be too difficult to get it converted to a MKVI crew with the jetbike torsos we already have..

An absolute delight would be if we saw Dreadclaws, Dread Drop Pods and Kharybdis in plastic, but not holding my breath.. And speaking of a Thunderhawk, thats pure hopium at this point (though it would sell tons to collectors, no doubt)

In theory. But for whatever reason GW just isn't using it. They experimented with it once for one of the Baneblade sprues iirc (to make "pre-drilled" gun barrels) but they didn't continue from there, and who knows why.

Given that these small 5-man sprues that are mass duplicated in each box are themselves a cost saving measure for the specialist studio (which is less well funded than the main studio), I absolutely would not expect 30k to get such special treatment, unfortunately.

So how are they going to tackle the MKV undercuts then? Making an exception by using 2 small sprues for every 5 marines? Is that going to end up cheaper for them than going for a singular small sprue slide molded?

One way I can see them doing this is like the Assault Squad kits are handled. duplicates of a single sprue, with one added spure giving enough pauldrony bitz for completing 10 models. this would result in a box of 20 tacs requiring 6 sprues altogether (4x 5-man body sprues, 2x extra gubbins sprues). This would left the MKV without the accessories sprue, but that could be agreeable, since they are so easy to come by in the other kits.. yeah, ATM, this is my biggest bet as on how they'll handle it

I don't know. It's possible they will put it off, or redesign the MKV a second time to make it plastic-friendly. GW themselves are probably frustrated about it, because the MKV design is inconvenient, but they also know the 30k community frowns at redesigns that are too dramatic.

It’s probably why we’ve not seen it yet.

First? The mass plasticification of Heresy seemed like a sure thing, but was still something of a risk. You never truly know until release what demand is going to be.

MkV is certainly the most finnickity to produce to the detail quality demanded by GW. They solved the studs for MkVI with slightly fiddly but really not to bad, two part shoulder pads.

MkV? OK the shoulder pads are straight forward two parts. The shins? Not gonna pretend I understand the limitations there. But with the MkVI studs really nicely realised, they’ve set a standard we’ll expect. So they need to be at least that good.

MkII, III, IV and VI? Not so much. Much easier to do from a practical point of view.

Honestly, if they just remove the bonding studs from the back of the leg, it's mostly solved, and would be a much lesser change than what they did to mk3.

That would still necessitate splitting the leg with a vertical joint, just like the MKVI pauldron, and I worry that alone would be a dealbreaker considering how tight these sprues are packed.

I could see some non-Veletaris/Lifeward special weapon squads and maybe Weapon Teams(though there, Rapiers have most needs covered) or some sort of Engineer squad. Perhaps a pseudo-Breacher boarding squad with shields and shotguns.

Cavalry/bikes, fast/light tanks, buggies, drop troops, heavy flyer, elite long-range troops

Also other divisions of the Imperial Army can be invented that can seamlessly ally in, like the Skitarii do to Mech.

They will need to expand on it eventually if this is to keep going, since GW doesn't tend to support "completed" product lines.

I just hope whatever it is, it fits into the look and feel of the established themes. It's my main want, really, now that so many of the original Heresy minds and design hands are gone or elsewhere.

Here’s a concept. Not necessarily a good one due to potential expense….

Solar Auxilia Demo Corps. Runs about in a Termite, pops up wherever it wants, jumps out and knacks nearby defences.

As a well known and entirely unrepentant Slag For Dreadnoughts?

Further down the line I think I’d like to smaller versions. Think the original 28mm Rogue Trader Dreads, which at the time wore an onion on their belt and demanded you gave them five bees were sophisticated suits of armour. That sort.

Think something relatively easy to produce in large numbers and not intended to let the incumbent survive terribly long, just long enough to bolster numbers for a battle or campaign.

The sort where the remains needed are far more Robocop Two ‘both yer eyes and yer thinky bits’ life support than those of more mainstream Dreadnoughts.

Perhaps a merging of Thallaxi and More Regular Dreadnoughts, pressed back into service in the late Heresy, having been previously deemed wasteful or outright inferior at earlier stages.

An even smaller Dreadnought would just be a Saturnine at that point, surely?

Castra, with an R. It's taken from the term used for Roman fortified towns or garrisons.

A Castraferrum Dreadnought is literally an "Iron Garrison".

I have just put together a Saturnine and was thinking that it was possibly bigger than the original metal RT angry Dread! The scales have definitely grown a lot over the years.

I love how its a great retro reference for those of us over a certain age and who owned those minis.
