http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=108331 Suck it, Ork players! Your near-decade long gravy train is over, and Space Marines are finally getting a place at the table. Some new models (although it's possible they are conversions, and we are getting SCREWED again)appeared at Warhammer World, and thanks to thereaper (at warseer), Marine players have a reason to celebrate at last. The drought is over, Chuck

Heh. New marine vets? I wonder what incited new sculpts for those to be made. The vets we have now are barely, what, 2 years old? No wonder people who play Xenos armies (or any non marine army for that matter) are incensed over releases. Even when an army is due to have some TLC, they make....... more marines....wow....just wow.

I hope the release of new space marine veterans proves to me that there is a God by smiting the headless chicken in charge of 40K development and releases. Either that, or the Spirit of Vengeance will have to fuse with me so I can walk to GW HQ and use my penance stare on them. I'm easily pleased. "GUILTY!"

Apologies to Ork and Xenos players everywhere for rubbing it in...but they're actually quite cool looking models, and (IMHO) a step up from the current SM Veterans on offer... (I can hear nyarly's screams of rage from here...) Also, I agree with Beef...the older 2nd ed. style lightning claw is an improvement over the current "knuckle-duster" style.

The sarcasm in the initial post was funny, but I do get a little tired of reading the same old "the hate is cool!!1!!" posts by the same people who seem to take more pleasure in whining than anything else here. The marines linked in the pic are nice models, and as many on B&C have suggested they have weapon options that aren't currently available to Vets, so it looks like this may be the token new release to go with the redux toned-down marine codex. (Which will make Xenos and Orks comparatively that much better than they are now.)
Not to say I don't think Orks could do with an upgrade, but these are some nice models, so just deal with them on that level instead of looking for excuses to complain more.

Yes, GW coming out with more Space Marines would be akin to Burger King's triple layer burger last year. Or a car company coming out with a new model. Heaven forbid the company doing something to make money.

As much as I'll hate myself for it those vets are beautiful and I'll definately buy a couple. While the latest vets aren't terrible by any measure (chaos possessed anyone?), compared to these new sculpts they were clearly rushed and totally lack the magnificance of these. Hell, maybe its GWs new marketing campaign. Sell a set of models that are adequate and 2-3 yrs later come out with a new line that blows the old ones away. Just makes me wish GW would prioritize what NEEDS to be updated rather than these lame tricks to sell more of the most popular models. Even as a 50% power armoured army player I'm insulted by the idea that none of us will see through the facade. But then again they've never really cared what we think as long as we keep buying their minis. Sigh... now I've gone and depressed myself. Cheers!

Thats the best post I've seen in a long time Iorek. I prefer to think of it as less of a nerfing and more of a castration. I mean what is scarier than a nutless marine? He'd have a REAL chip on his shoulder. Its one way to get marines more rapid than templers.

The marine with the lightning claw is great so is the one with the new style helmet and plasma pistol. Plus the pose of standing on a rock makes them look quite heroic. The powerfist guys sucks. Well actally his head suck. Enough bald SM sergents please. Give the a hairdo atleast. I am sure its not a pre requsit for sergents to be bold?
