So, I was killing some time looking at stuff on GW's online US store, and I noticed that there is no longer "Daemon Hunters" and "Witch Hunters" headings on the site. Now it is just a monolithic "Inquisition". They have all the Sisters, GK's, Inquisitors, priests, characters and specific vehicles in the same place. Note that I didn't see assassins or storm troppers.

Further evidence of a single Codex: Inquisition coming out sometime? Or possible evidence of them putting all the models they intend to consign to the warp in one place?

They've already stated that a single codex for all three is their goal, however it probably won't be coming out anytime soon. I think this is just to tighten up some stuff on the website.

It's been unified "Inquisition" for quite a while, so this isn't news, nor evidence of anything new coming out. When GW gets around to plastic Stormtroopers & Sisters, at that point, a new Inquisition book becomes a real possibility.

Ahh, see I was unaware that it had been that way for a while.
However, I suspect that by the time we see plastic girls and troopers, we will have been well aware that the codex is coming out for a bit. Still, just a pipe dream as of now.

It just means that the US site has finally added the missing models (well, most of them) to their store for Inquisition but I notice IG is still short the "redid" blister minis (other non-SM are still missing stuff too).

Hello:
The sections were compressed into the Inquisition since that is how they are listed in the new catalog.
We are working on it. I hope to finish the Inquisition section today and will be working on IG and CSM later this week.

Thanks,

So I guess Inquisition is going to Apocalypse-only, eh?

I noticed that the only ManEaters Ogres on the Website are now he Direct Exclusive Ninja and Female. All the regular ManEaters were evidently eaten by those two.

Nah. Inquisition actually has Codices, so they'll be fine.

For now.

They're not dropping races John. Your insistance that the Inquisition and Dark Eldar are 'dead' races is based on nothing more than your doom-and-gloom opinion.

Those never had a codex, so GW does not consider them a "race"/proper army (that is why they are now Apocalypse datasheets). Ordo Xenos is the only existing non-codex army that will get the codex treatment (at least for now) and that is still in the combined Inquisition codex, not one of their own.

Now that's not entirely true. Black Templars were in the Armageddon book for a long time and were considered a "race"/proper army. Granted they are Space Marines though...

I was not saying that previously non-codex armies did not get codexes in the past, I was talking about anyone that does not have a current/active codex now is not going to get a one anytime soon/ever according to current GW policy. Besides, Armageddon was considered a "codex" for awhile.

Except for Squats and Xenos/Deathwatch (ok, and Armored Company), most of the old favorite lists that people keep "demanding" the return of, have come back as Apocalypse datasheets or are current rumors of having a codex some what soon (Chaos Legions mostly). From what I have heard, more of the Craftworld Eldar lists are coming as datasheets soon (no idea just how soon soon is).

From my understanding, Craftworld Eldar are not different enough to justify making them a codex as they will not sell enough new/redone models to make them financially viable as a seperate codex. Notice how all SM chapters that have their own codex have a good amount of existing metal models, preexisting plastic specialty sprues or got a chapter specific sprue at release. Even the BA WD codex got some repackaged models. GW has repeatedly said that unless they can foresee supporting a new army for that point forward, they will not release it as a full/codex army but might as collectors/direct only models (again, current policy as said by JJ and others).

JJ claimed that they will do no more WD codexes but also said that any army that was currently supported (as of last summer) would not be "squatted". SW are the only current army I have not really heard anything useful about. While the SW codex is still on sale at few of the GW websites (very few at last look), it has for the most part, been removed from the retail channel (it is missing from a few of the WD ad spreads which showed all the other then current codexes). The current Inquisition codexes have been removed from retail too in some countries (GW Germany gives out the lists online).

God, that was verbose. /me passes out on keyboard.

You know, they could make and Eldar codex that has the generic Eldar list and then in the back has all the rules for the Craftworlds. Seems to me that would justify the $22 price tag for codices filled with grammatical errors and piss poor rules (Yay, I have fleet on this unit under this entry, but when I flip some pages they lose it...?). They could do it with Space Marines, Chaos, Orks, Guard, and even Necrons. Hell, the argument could be made that every codex could get some luvinz like this. However, the play testers that GW uses eat paint chips... delicious paint chips and it has somewhat slowed their process of thought. So enter the era of 10 man squads and all that simplified crap. Oh well, better stop before I really start to rant.

You are quite correct. Except for SMs, which I think they will always keep at least a few extra chapter codexes, they could easily include the special lists like Kroot Mercenaries or Craftworlds in their core codex, especially since GW charges the same for a 100+ page codex as they do a 60+ page one. GW has all but admitted that codexes from Eldar forward are designed specifically for GW tournaments since everything else is opponents or other tournament handlers permission anyway. :p

I admit, I would prefer a combined/all-in-one Codex: Inquisition though, would only have to lug (hopefully) one codex not 3 or more.

The only Craftworld that cannot be done well with the current Codex is Biel-Tan. Most of the others, you can "fake" pretty well with Rangers/Pathfinders, Jetbikes, and Wraithguard as Troops, and Farseer with Warlocks as HQ. The Court of the Young King is the obvious missing unit for Biel-Tan, along with expanded Aspect support as Troops a la CSM Cult Marines.

But I would expect IG and Inquisition to get their Codices before any Craftworld comes out.

In the four local GW stores Space Wolfs have on average two boxes and a blister pack. Fate doesn't look good for them. (But I don't know how many they had to start with)

On the other hand, more then 3/4 of the Sisters of Battle, sorry, Witch Hunters is currently direct only.
If GW was going to squat an army then they certainly are going about it the right way.

The real question is how much Dark Eldar stuff do they have on your shelves.

In this topic?

That probably isn't the real question...

Still, I too dream of the day (Far off? Never?) when the Ordo Xenos is finally given a Codex (even a part of one!) by GW...

And no, I'm not holding my breath.

And no, something for Apocalypse doesn't count either...

Heres the best bit, everything but warrior, incubus and wych special weapons and warrior dark lances.

Oh, and the special characters.

That is almost as much as the space marines in terms of % of army in store with only Chaos any closer.

I think Kettu's stores have the DE stuff in stock because it hasn't sold since 3rd Edition was released.

I don't know who purchased the stuff from our store. It went on a big sale, and the only local I know who plays DE already had everything he wanted, and I don't think he got much of anything.

Actually, I run a Swordwind force that I created with the new codex that is quite effective.

Troops-only scoring will be the death-knell for the Biel-Tan list though.
