Thought i would have a go at scratch building the Reaver since:
A. there is a data sheet (see BELLOFLOSTSOULS )
B. just got the templates from the net
and C. have a bit of free time on my hands at the moment.

where to start.....

There may need to be some modification to various parts, but hay thats what scratch building is about!

Just started on the feet and will work up.
Needed a stronge base so went for balsa wood, as this will let me Pivot the toes to get a stable footing.

Mmm... this thing's gonna be huge. The way a Reaver's meant to be, really.

Why does the schematics of the Titan have Butt Cheeks?

Many a Sentinel pilot has hesitated to call his vehicle a walking coffin after battling beside a Dreadnought.

I think they are cables, you are following the same templates I used.... check out mine, they are a lot of work but worth it.

Wow, its looks great!
I am personally a little sad you won't be making butt cheeks though. I always think 40-GRIMDARK-K can use a little splash of humor. Plus, with a zippo in front, you could have made a hell of a flamer.

Do you find the balsa easier to use than thick styrene? I never liked working with wood, but seeing how large the feet are, I am thinking it was a very good idea.

I love Plasticard sheet for most models my warhound is made just from it bar the resin toes!!! I hate making toes!!!!
the thickest sheet i use is 1mm, so it was easier and less time consuming to make them out of bulsa. The feet only took half an hour to cut all the bits!

Wanted to see how large it would be.....

Fast work.

Did you CAD that chainblade yourself?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Got into gear with this project, just made up a chain sword,
I had to cut it down from warlord size to fit in with the Reavers shoulder.

Impressive scrathbuild! Are you working directly from printed templates, or using your own skills to work off a CAD rendering / schematic? Which I suppose would also involved printing templates ...

All the same, great work

Chain Sword is looking better, might replace teeth with something that looks more rippy and teary and less woody!

Will be using a fine screen of body filler on all wood sections to remove the grain effect.

Just started boxing up the legs and I will start on the shoulder armour later today.

Lovin' the chain sword and the plasma blaster. I'm trying to think what material you could use for the teeth of the chain fist that would thick enough to look right, but easy enough to cut....nothing comes to mind right off, but it looks dead rippy right now!

Oh, and the Stagg Chili leg? SWEET! (btw, if you ever look at the dietary numbers on one of those - 1 serving has 96% of your daily fiber allowance. One can has 2 servings...) I'd love to see this guy get a Stagg Chili banner when he's done.

Fear the Chilli titan!

I think this one might end up taller than mine too, which is probably a good thing as the templates were based on the Armorcast dimensions which can seem a little small next to current FW scale.

Sleazy: I will have to crank the size up because the Chain sword is real big!

May make another weapon for it and save the Chainsword for my Warlord.
