ok so lets share our incredibly ridiculous luck stories while playing.
mine was a great one. it was my renegades against my brothers SM army. my renegades are super shooty and he likes the CC. anyways i have really giving him the hammer down until he got close enough for CC. then i started to get my but kicked. BUT the end of the battle was still looking in my favor, the only problem was i had nothing but regular marines left and a dred, and he had some marines and his dred. obviously a basica marine CANT kill a dred so it went dred on dred. i bullcharged his dred and in the assault mine naturally got busted up. couldnt move and its main armament was destroyed. all i had was the storm bolter left.
so his dred starts walking towards my now shivering marines, and hes laughing the whole way thinking he had the win. just for gaks and giggles, the next turn i fired at his rear with the storm bolter thinking, what else do i have. and by some luck of the dice gods, got a glancing hit, AND rolled the 6 to make his dred destroyed!
never have i heard or seen since a dred getting blown to bits by a lonely bolter

You have nothing on my friend. I charged 2 different squads of korne bezerkers with 50 orks, collectively, and at the end of that round, he had to take 23 saves on all of them, and passed 22. This isn't that out of the ordinary for him

I guess my most recent lucky story would be having an ork mob of 24 shoot at 4 terminators, and kill 2 (no heavy weapons, just pistols). They then continued to fail moral check (with combat tactics) so they wouldn't get charged. Gits...

Nah. Sadly, they had such a short range, once the Reactor blew, they were quickly consumed in the roiling wave of Plasma that followed.

Still, was a cracker of a shot. 6 to hit, Location Dice came up double blank, snake eyes to save, and then 6 on the damage.....

If only he'd powered up his shields. Silly sod.

I was watching a buddy's game where he was playing tau and his opponent was playing nidzillafirst shots of the game firewarriors put four wound on a flying tyrant , and the dice come up all 1's. scratch one flyrant. Later in the game a squad of 6 genestealers charge a unit of 2 drones they whiff doing no damage, the drones retaliate killing one genestealer. The genestealers are found to be outside of synapse range and fail their break test, unfortunately they roll a one for their initiative test and the drones roll a 6. So genestealers charged drones lost combat and were cut down. Best drones ever!!!

back in 3rd my Lord of Change was called on to make 33 saves. He made 30. Back then GDs only had a 5+ invuln.

Best though was a game were IG fought Tau. The Tau player's only tanks were 2 devilfish, everything was FWs and Suits and Broadsides. Guard goes first. His first shot was a bassie at some suits. Shot scattered 12" and hit his ethereal. Killed him. Every unit failed its check and ran off the board.

yeah,
rolling a 6 with a glancing hit (-2) means you got a 4 immobilised. sorry.

You can only kill a dread with a glancing hit if you have a AP1 weapon (+1) or if you immobilise twice...

Edit: If your talking about a recent game in 5th edition?

In second edition had a sentinel fire at a Bloodthirster and rolled an 8 on the rapid fire dice. It made all it's saves but one, which I then rolled a 10 on a d10 for wounds and killed it in one shot.

rolling a 6 with a glancing hit (-2) means you got a 4 immobilised. sorry.

You can only kill a dread with a glancing hit if you have a AP1 weapon (+1) or if you immobilise twice...

Back in 3rd ed at a tourney ran a Deathwing army vs blood angels.

Killed him to a man in turn 6, I didn't lose a single man after making every armour and invulnerable save I was required to make...

Of course that was balanced by another 3rd ed tournament game against mechanised guard when I wiped him out completely and managed to lose 16 models of my Black Templars, 15 of whom died from getting caught in vehicle explosions as I destroyed them...

i had a gnoblar kill a chosen chaos knight of khorne in CC once (i laughed hard, and even tho i lost horribly, it was an amazing game just for that).

other than that, i had my lictor get beaten and then routed in CC by firewarriors (after charging no less).

oh what to say,

fighting the new vulcan salamander list, blew up one landraider from an assault cannon, passed almost all the saves I was required to make and ran amuk through his army.

we had a rematch after and I wasn't so lucky

In a cleanse mission in 3rd edition, last act of the last turn, my ork trukk made 3 armour plate saves (6s) to stay alive from a carnifex in CC, contesting a quarter and winning me the game. Awesome.

Best I recall was from a unit of a dozen skavenslaves, the very lowest of the low in the Skaven army. They were charged by a chaos lord and his four mounted knights, which knowing Chaos totalled about half the points cost of his army. They passed the fear test, then took minimal casualites for the next two combat rounds as the knights fumbled around. They eventually broke and ran away, the chaos knights failed to run them down, on the next turn the Skavenslaves rallied after throwing snake-eyes for their Ld test and now charged the chaos knights! This tiny unit worth less than 100 points tied up the chaos general and his gang of bad boys for the bulk of the game.

Best luck i've seen recently is my friend shooting at my wraithlord in cover with his devastator squad with 4 missile launchers. He had first turn and shot at the Wlord. Got 3 out of 4 hits, then rolled all 4+'s to wound, then I failed all three 4+ cover saves. That squad seemed to have the best luck that game as they shot the blast markers and rolled 4 direct hits in a later turn then proceeded to knock out a tank in another turn.

My old Imperial Guard commander, armed only with a power sword, carapace armour, and his utter badassedness, killed 3 Tyranid Warriors, consolidated into the Hive Tyrant (this was 3rd) killed it, and then held his own against a gaunt swarm for two more turns.

That command squad was amazing. It's autocannon once killed a Dark Eldar Archon with a shadowfield on Turn one, for which I modelled a little medal on him. They shot and stabbed their way through everything they came across.

I fought a guy the other day whose Tzeentch Herald lasted four full turns in melee against my Sorcerer and four CSM Terminators. For the last two turns the Herald was alone and even won one round of combat. He made approximately 20 consecutive 4+ ward saves.

Worst of all, combat lasted just long enough for his Horrors to DS in and position themselves to drop five Wind of Chaos templates on the Termies immediately.

The game was a tie, but we decided that Tzeentch won due to the MVP Herald's awesomeness.

This was stupid on my roommates part for allowing me to do this but it was a bit of luck. I had a vindi firing at a squad of firewarriors and it rolled to scatter directly behind them and over a hill. Well on the other side of the hill just happen to a be a large group of kroot with for some odd reason a crisis suit HQ was attached to them. And the story goes he lost 7 guys forcing a moral check. Moral check failed and then rolled a 12 for falling back which put a single kroot off the board, killing both the kroot and attached HQ.

Thing he learned from this game don't attach anything to kroot. (this was like his 4th game ever so yea).

But this guy has the worst luck you have no idea how often he rolls 1s with his hammerhead. I'd go so far as to say 50% of the time

I was playing a game of 3rd ed. My Eldar army had 2 squads of Dark Reapers with a pretty good field of fire over the board and my opponent had footslogging Chaos who were all in reserve. Well, he managed to have ONE squad walk on the board each turn for the ENTIRE 6 turn game, needless to say my Reapers slaughtered each squad as they walked on.
